Hey ddr it this is jhorror, NEVCE, and bonghit420 <same person. My step brother started playing urban dead and has paid the 5 dollars for unlimited ip hits for his accounts, however i have not. - If you want to make a group or a page, all you have to do is type what name you want into the 'search' bar on your left. So if I want to make a group called "The Happy Dancers" I would type that into the search bar and click 'go'. Once it tells you the page doesn't exist, you click on 'create page' and from there onwards you can make and edit the page under that name. I hope that answers your question... If not, just say so. Status Signess
I just realized that your current signature is set up in two templates. Sig then Status. Might it not be better to fold the status into your sig template? That way if you ever want to drop the status thing you will be able to easily? Right now you'd have to edit all your recent signings in order to remove it...that seems extraneous. Gets worse if you keep editing though, hence my presense. --

- There are two things: I've tested with just keeping the status page blank, which seems to work so when there comes a day when I don't want this status thing, I can just blank the page and add a noinclude to tell them hands off... And if I were to throw it all into one template, well, then one months worth of old posts will have two statuses next to my name. Hi. I wish to editing an auto repair information on this wiki. I have spoked with the group that had write on it before and they gave me they permission to rewrite. I have also spooked with one of the largest grope in the suburb and they have no problem with me changing it.
I wish to make it an personal text based on my character and a friends character work on it now, as well as some history before and after the outbreak. What do you say? Can you give me some nice advise. :)

- Well, what is the auto shop that you want to use? Once you find it, you can always write a short history on the page to add some flavour to the place. My only tip is try to make is as neutral as possible, because some people around here don't like it if it's a point of view article. Once you have a massive history to put on, you can always make a group and put it on your group page. You can write anything you want on there! Hope that helps. Hey DDR! I really appreciate the signature help offer. I have struggled with it, but I think I've got it to where I'm okay with it. I will definitely ask you for other wiki help though, and here is my first question. If we (or anyone else) are talking about something, do we just go back and forth posting on each others talk page? - Well, (this is the part you probably won't like) it goes either way. Some users will reply onto your talk page, whilst others will reply on theirs. You'll have to check your watchlist to find out who does what, and to make sure you don't miss a reply to a topic you've written on someone's talk page. It's annoying, but you get used to it eventually. You can probably tell by my talk page that I reply to comments on my own talk (it's better for archival purposes), but when I'm talking to newer users I like to reply to them directly on their talk page because its easier for them, I remember missing a lot of replies from that when I was new myself.

Where can I learn the wiki's "language"?
Hello, DanceDanceRevolution
Many thanks first of all for leaving the welcome message in my Talk page and for your kind invitation to annoy you :-) with any question I may have.
As a matter of fact, my biggest hinderance when working with the wiki is that I have no clue at all of the "language" used there (like : for indenting and the like). I learn by clicking on "edit" in other pages and guessing what each thing does. Although it works for a few small things, it is not the best way and I am always terribly afraid of accidentally changing something. I also do not know how to load new images, templates and the like and link them to a current page.
So... the question basically is, is there a place where I can read about all that (I couldn't find any but maybe I looked for the wrong keywords), or is a Mentor the quickest way?

- DDR's currently banned (not in a bad "ZOMG HE'S SUCH A VANDAL!!!!" - he asked for it so he wouldn't get distracted while doing important things,) but I'll point you to a few help pages.
- Of course, there's the wiki's own help section - but it's a tad incomplete in some parts, and not all that great. Wikipedia's cheetsheet is probably your best bet if you need a piece of code, that's your place. The Wikipedia help sections might be good if you need to go more in-depth (although you don't really have to unless you're planning on doing some more hard-core editing.

I would also suggest only noting overbarricaded buildings, and then putting it on the news section for the suburb. Rabit Hole and DHPD Testemonials
AS far as the Rabit Hole goes I doubt anyone else in the DHPD even know about it since it dates back to 2006 and was part of a Massive arby's case that ended up getting Maxwell Hammer/Reetoric permabans. - You don't need to because there'll always be someone around to do it for you, but if you'd like to do it yourself, you just follow that box on Category:Images. The images that just won't die.
On one of your pages somewhere you keep a small history of those three images that refuse to be removed from the lists despite being deleted. Well on Special:Unusedimages all three obviously show up (near the top), but better yet all three original files are on there and still recoverable. - Wait a second, I've found out why they don't die, at leased. Check the actual code of the images, [3],[4] and [5]. For some reason, there are extra codes on the filenames, eg. %E2%80%8EPDA_Badge.jpg, which ties these images in the same group as the pages that similarly won't die ([eg. 7th Fallschirmj�ger Div.) Now, if we find a way to de-code the sections (%E2%80%8E), upload an image with those symbols, then maybe it would upload it over what the Wiki thinks the images are? - Agreed, after doing some investigation on php's function to encode URL's, it seems that is indeed the code for a left to right mark. The html code is ‎ so we can easily link to the right images.
- ...It's the hex code for "0xE2 0x80 0x8E (e2808e)". More info at [6] and [7]. - Wait a second, I've found out why they don't die, at leased. Check the actual code of the images, [3],[4] and [5]. For some reason, there are extra codes on the filenames, eg. %E2%80%8EPDA_Badge.jpg, which ties these images in the same group as the pages that similarly won't die ([eg. 7th Fallschirmj�ger Div.) Now, if we find a way to de-code the sections (%E2%80%8E), upload an image with those symbols, then maybe it would upload it over what the Wiki thinks the images are? - Uploaded the original PDA badge for another try. It appears as a separate listing on the unused files, so that's proof the the nicely named image which I uploaded is a different file from the crap one. All the old deletions are just deleting the nice file. The problem is all the links to the crap one are redirected by the wiki to the nice one. So some meddling around with the upload destination or some URL fiddling when deleting the image is in order. -- RoosterDragon 17:20, 1 July 2009 (BST)
Just tried fiddling around with the URL when uploading: http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=Special:Upload&wpDestFile=%E2%80%8EPDA_Badge.jpg and then attempting to upload yields:
- File name has been changed to "PDA_Badge.jpg".
- A file with this name exists already, please check Image:PDA Badge.jpg if you are not sure if you want to change it.
So it removes the mark, and then of course the filename matches the nice one. How did the image ever make it in the first place if it removes the stupid code? -- RoosterDragon 17:32, 1 July 2009 (BST)

Maybe an older version of Wiki software didn't change the filename, then Kevan updated the software (after these images were uploaded), and the new software had a feature which did not allow this type of symbol use when uploading files?
