Since the Fall of Caiger Mall, Dunell Hills has often been a very dangerous suburb, at certain points completely devoid of life. This was initially caused when many of the zombies drawn to Caiger Mall chose to remain in the region; since then local survivors have been under almost constant siege -- including fierce battles with Extinction in 2007 and the arrival en masse of The Dead in 2008, the latter having vowed never to permit survivors to reside in Dunell Hills again.

The latest survivor push to reclaim Dunell Hills in the spring of 2011 was met by hundreds of The Dead's zombies.  Local sources now believe that there are hundreds of idled out zombies in the area, awaiting the next groan.

Dunell Hills declared a Ghost Town!

An eerie calm has come over the suburb of Dunell Hills.  After long months of hard fighting, the streets are now nearly empty.  A few survivors still cling to a handful of buildings in the north east parts of the suburb, and a couple feral zombies still wander about, but most streets and building are desolate and empty.  Whether the fighters killed each other off, or moved on to other fronts is unknown, but the chill wind that blows through the empty streets and broken windows is the only sound to be heard throughout most of Dunell Hills. --Boneshred The Hungry 20:07, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Resting on the very outskirts of Malton, the Hills was a small community that had generally kept to itself. The suburb supported several clinics and research hospitals and as such had a brisk medical trade in the area.

The suburb contains only one NecroTech facility: the Dury Building. It does, however, boast an impressive 6 hospitals, as well as 3 police stations, 3 factories and an Auto Shop. Dunell Hills is also home to historical site Club Meade -- one of the more famous RP bars in Malton -- when the suburb is not in zombie hands.

Hometown to the Dunell Hills Police Department, "the Hills" are also infamous as the birthplace of mega horde The Dead and site of bitter rivalry between the two that has destroyed much of the town's infrastructure and former reputation as a safezone for survivors.

A Brief History of Dunell Hills After the Outbreak

Dunell Hills, a small quiet community that had always kept to itself, rests on the very outskirts of Malton. It was during a town meeting at Godsland Street School that the quarantine of the area was instituted and as such the local population could not organize themselves before they were practically decimated by various waves of zombies that swept through the suburb.

After the initial chaos and bloody slaughter a group calling itself the Dunell Hills Police Department, after the city's pre-outbreak police force and formed from remnants of emergency services, military, and survivor militia, established this suburb as the heart of the Dunell Military Zone, in what eventually became a six borough region which they have pledged to patrol and defend.

The Dead, in fact, succeeded in making Dunell Hills a wasteland from November 2007 to September 2008. Although there were several concerted attempts by different survivor groups to retake the suburb during this time, none of these incursions met with more than transitory and limited success. At the end of this period, repair costs averaged around 50 AP, with some buildings in the high 90s. Most recently, a resurgence in the numbers of The Dead has resulted in the apparent collapse of the DHPD and the abandonment of the suburb to the rotted hands of The Dead, in which it has remained save for periodic attempts by doomed breath cultists to reclaim the heart of the DMZ

Barricade Plan

Like most suburbs, Dunnel Hills has a survivor-based barricade plan. However, it must be noted for the sake of neutrality, that The Dead has its own building code, which it seeks to enforce. Both survivor and The Dead barricade policies are listed below.
