#'''Kill''' - I actually think it is a great idea in principle; but there is no way anybody who cares about the rules should EVER be that close to one of their alts. Thus the intentional zergers would likely be the only ones seeing the warning. However, a well thought out and presented argument Aichon, just can't give you my vote. --[[User:YoEleven|YoEleven]] 02:54, 20 December 2009 (UTC) | #'''Kill''' - I actually think it is a great idea in principle; but there is no way anybody who cares about the rules should EVER be that close to one of their alts. Suggestion description
To say it up front, this suggestion is not designed to stop intentional zerging, nor should it help zergers know when they've been found out. Read on for why that is.
Many Urban Dead players have multiple characters (alts). The rule regarding alts is simple, but many players still find that their characters get too close to one another sometimes. Even veteran players have this problem on occasion. This suggestion is aimed at helping honest players keep their characters apart.
- Proposal - A proximity warning whenever characters with the same e-mail address are within 10 blocks of each other, as well as requiring confirmation for e-mail address changes (explained later). Similar in appearance to the IP warning, if a character moves within 10 blocks of another character with the same e-mail, they would receive a simple warning, perhaps like, You are X blocks away from CHARACTER_NAME, another character with your e-mail address. Please mind the rules. As long as the characters are within 10 blocks of each other, the warning would be displayed.
- Why e-mail? - If the actual zerging detection mechanisms (e.g. cookies, IP addresses, etc.) were used, zergers could learn the limits of them and circumvent them more easily. By using e-mail, no information about the actual mechanisms is given away, and the proximity warning becomes an opt-in tool for honest players to identify when they're close to making an accidental mistake.
- Why confirmation? - Without it, griefers could enter the e-mail address of their target, then find out whenever they were in proximity. It would essentially act as a radar system, and could potentially have some other drawbacks as well. Confirmations ensure that only people who own an e-mail address can use it.
Please note that the existing countermeasures will remain as they are. This suggestion does not modify, remove, or otherwise alter them.

- Keep - Sure why not. I guess the stupid and lazy need a way to keep their damn characters apart, since they can't just use their fuckin BRAIN and do it themselves.--T | BALLS! | 08:58 20 December 2009(BST) |
