In the following essay will be looking at the names of Ezinma and Okonkwo from the book Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. Things that will be explored are the meanings of the names, the reason these characters were chosen, as well as the how they fit the characters. The way Igbo/Ibo children were named is to be explored too. Also being explored is the meaning of my name (Daniel Mark Brown), its meaning, as well as a bit of information in regards to how I was named. | In the following essay will be looking at the names of Ezinma and Okonkwo from the book Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. The two characters I chose from Things Fall Apart were Ezinma and Okonkwo. Okonkwo’s name means “baby boy born on Nkwo”, Or simply “Born on Nkwo market day”. While Ezinma’s name means “Good Path” or “The future looks good”. There doesn’t seem to be much of a connection between the meaning of Okonkwo’s name and his character. His name is simply based off of the day he was born on. However one could speculate that perhaps that Okonkwo is to complex of a character for a name to describe him; then again one could also speculate that Okonkwo’s father was too lazy or similar to come up with an interesting name. However I believe that latter to be highly unlikely. On the other hand the meaning of Ezinma’s name is rather interesting. I say this because the meaning is “Good Path” or “The future looks good”. Based off of what has been read so far this is very true as all of Ekwefi’s other children died. This was because they were an ogbanje or “A child who repeatedly dies and returns to its mother to be reborn...”. Ezinma has managed to live so “The future looks good” seems really fitting. Also both could be seen really fitting if she was a boy; as Okonkwo wishes she was as he greatly likes her, she’s the son he could have had or rather, never has had. Although, all this being said it should be mentioned that the name is a female one. | The two characters I chose from Things Fall Apart were Ezinma and Okonkwo. Battle Of Ridleybank
Your page, Battle Of Ridleybank, was not linked to on the wiki. This message is just to provide a link for it and clear it from our orphanage. --Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 15:50, 24 April 2010 (BST) Hey fang! This page should be a subpage of your group. I've already put a move request here.--Orange Talk 01:46, 6 September 2009 (BST) Sorry about that man. --Chairman Fanglord, 01:53, 6 September 2009 (BST)
It has been now moved to Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance/News Archive. I've fixed the incoming links acccordingly. Good luck with your new group. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 03:03, 6 September 2009 (BST) Alright!I think it is a time for a different look i will get a preview of somthing you may like on here soon. Chairman Fanglord,15:18, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Check it out: User:Fanglord2/Testing Grounds I need to clean up the code cause the page looks nice, but the code is almost impossible to edit without messing things up so yea, also i will be making a few others for a bit more of a choice, i will make the next one tomorrow (about one a day). Anyway hope you like it i g2g. P.S. i have the font white because i find it alot easyer on the eyes but just tell me what color you want it to be and i will cahnge it. Chairman Fanglord, 01:45, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok so what order do you want them in exactly? cause i have been wondering about it. also i am having troubles with the page width so it may be a while before i can get that fixed.Chairman Fanglord, 15:58, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
RE: Malton ObserverIf you're referring to the News at a Glance comment in the January 12th issue, I was referring to the fact that your posts on Brainstock were nearly incomprehensible, save for the posts that were completely incomprehensible. I used the phrase "Speaks in Tongues" to allude to the Pentecostal practice of shouting out gibberish and pretending it's some kind of spiritual language, which is based on a well-known passage from the Christian Bible in which the apostles experience Xenoglossy. In short, I was making fun of the fact that your posts were poorly written and extremely difficult to understand. --William Told and Co. ಠ_ಠ ಠ_ಠ ಠ_ಠ 21:29, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Testing groundOh good god, yet another page with black background and silly font tags in headings! Um, anyway, your test page has been moved to User:Fanglord2/Testing Grounds -- boxy talk • teh rulz 06:59 27 February 2009 (BST) SigmaCan you update the Sigma roster on the wiki for me? I would do it myself but im a bit occupied at the moment. If you cant get to it no problem i will do it some other day. Use this for reference: Sigma Platoon Roster Also i could use some help with making a siggy for the wiki cause each time i try it gets all messed up, i will show you what i got so far latter. Thanks in advance. Fanglord2 00:49, 25 February 2009 (UTC) I'll update the page, that's not a problem. But I can't do the roster list until members choose what RT they want to take (Medic, Engineer, Infantry, etc). We get that sorted first, then I'll fix the wiki page. :) --D.E.ATalk 13:04, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Ok nevermind about the siggy thing i almost have it done then i will use it. Anyway can i use the main layout for your user page but edit it for my own? I would really apreciate it, hope to hear back from ya. Fanglord2 17:17, 25 February 2009 (UTC) Ok i got my siggy check it out User:Fanglord2/sig but how do i make it apear as my actual sig instead of this one --->Fanglord2 00:32, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Recruitment Advert AlphabetizingI notice that you have been consistently removing the Abandoned's advert post and putting it below the Arcadiac Socialist Survivalist Party and the Area 51's group advertisements. If you haven't noticed yet, our advertisement is to be left alone except by registered members of the Abandoned, and any attempts to move it below the two groups stated above will simply be revised. The reason why our advertisement is on top is because when alphabetising, one goes by the Proper Noun (in this case, Abandoned), not the adjective. This is true with the other recruitment adverts, and so is true with anything under the category A. I also left several notes in the History tab of the Recruitment section, with the hopes you would see them and stop messing with the order of the adverts. I hope you understand this well. --Private Mark 07:26, 15 July 2008 (BST)
Hi and Welcome:)I'd just like to say that unlike some people, I like that you're making suggestions, even if some of them are not really workable. I thought the group radio one was great. Three pieces of advice though:
Also, there are a lot of jerks on Talk:Suggestion who will probably rag on you - don't let them get to you. In general, people tend to be ruder on the internet than they'd ever dare to be in real life, but there are also some really nice people who, even when they disagree with your ideas, will do so in a mature manner and will sometimes even give you ways of making your suggestion more palatable to the UD community. I look forward to seeing more of your suggestions :) --Tselita 14:30, 28 May 2008 (BST)
Here is the problem with you, Fanglord2, and the Suggestions page. You aren't reading what people are saying that is negative about your suggestions and learning from it. You aren't working on an idea after you throw it out there. You had the gall to say that the discussion was boring. You don't research any of your suggestions. You don't really seem to know how a wiki works. And to answer your question, No it isn't "copying" to use an older idea and 'improve it. If you add something new to it you just might get something Peer Reviewed. I know it is boring going through all those old suggestions. We don't like going through them when people dupe something, but we do to show you where that idea has already been taken. We do it to help you. That's why it really makes people annoyed at you when you ignore or dismiss a link or if you can't be bothered to look for some of your own links. If you have an idea type it in the search box and see what pops up. It might lead you to another idea. If you are serious about coming up with things to improve UD first of all you have to show that you actually know and play the game. Second, you need to see if it has already been suggested. Third, you need to listen to your fellow players. And on a wiki it is customary to respond on the page someone left the comment on. You don't have to respond on their talk page. It breaks up the flow of the conversation. If they are going to reply to you they will check your page where they left their comment.--– Nubis 23:14, 28 May 2008 (BST) Talk:SuggestionsWhen making a new suggestion, remember to also copy the last two lines (the discussion header and the horizontal line) as described in the How To section. And please read the Frequently Suggested page before putting anything else up for discussion. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 00:10, 27 May 2008 (BST)

HAHAHAHA!!!Actually, everything I said WAS true. Check the history of Axes High's talk page. Additionally, I received a pm on your boards half requesting, half ordering, our help in Perryn. Both of these were from Braden, and I've since spoken with him about it, and the issue has been resolved upon that front. You, however, continue to portray yourself as a trenchie jackass... and it's getting pretty old. Your lack of communication with your teammates is NOT my problem, so resolve issues internally before pointing fingers, mmkay? Peace, --Hardcore Rockabilly 20:06, 11 August 2008 (BST) Listen up Fanglord:You're a group leader, which means it's your job to know what your team is doing. Also, engage your brain; If I reference an edit to AH's discussion page, don't jump the gun and say I'm lying. Go to the talk page, and see for yourself. Here, I'll make it easy. http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=Talk:Axes_High&oldid=1216405 I'm going to send you a PM on your boards, we can wrap this up there. Email notification comes with PMs, but not talk pages. (Oh, and that faglord thing, that was a typo. Well, might have been a Freudian slip, but still. In the end, I blame Tonyay ;) Hi Fanglord. Nice work with the navbar. We could really use a better navaigational system for our main page but then we already have links for Victor, Omega and Whiskey platoons' pages and one at the bottom for U.B.C.S. All we needed was just a link to the UCC. I guess we can thank Thadeous for the one thats currently up... if he was the one who put it there lol! =P. --D.E.ATalk 18:13, 29 August 2008 (BST)
I could't work out what the UBCS code was so I stuck in Company Allies instead. Edit the UC main page, paste the code in at the top somewhere and preview it to see what I mean =) --D.E.ATalk 16:01, 30 August 2008 (BST)
it should have looked like this: this would be the exact name of the page->Victor Platoon|{{c|red|Victor Platoon<-is what you want it to apear as on the navbar here it is finished i think unless you want to add more to it. Fanglord2 17:19, 30 August 2008 (BST)
oh i understand i will try to see if i can fix it up a bit also could you give me a link to his user page thing and yes i did take the postion of second-in-comand.--Fanglord2 18:11, 30 August 2008 (BST) When you click one of the headings, it automatically takes you to that corresponding topic... correct me if i am wrong but dont they need to have their own topic/section for that? cause omega and whisky are in a section called platoons...Fanglord2 18:19, 30 August 2008 (BST) wait nvm i tried that on a different page and it dident work--Fanglord2 18:30, 30 August 2008 (BST) omfg i think i got it theres just on problem lol i will get it fixed though--Fanglord2 18:48, 30 August 2008 (BST)
there it is it works perfectly but you need a section for U.B.C.S.Fanglord2 18:55, 30 August 2008 (BST)

Video games these days differ greatly game to game in how they look, sound, feel. For example there are games such as Call of Duty that have high definition/high detail graphics; millions of people play this franchise. Then there are some games such as Minecraft which has been bought and played by hundreds of thousands of people but has graphics most would compare to those of Mario on the Nintendo 64. Both of the above games greatly differ in sound too. Video games also greatly differ in how they feel. Some games feel very smooth while others feel very heavy and clunky despite how much you change sensitivity and controller configurations. History The invention of the first true video game is a topic quite susceptible to debate. One of the most common misconceptions is that Pong (1972) was the first video game in existence, this is hardly the truth. To really see what the first video game was we have to go back to how they first started, approximately 63 years ago. The first video game was patented in the United States on December 14, 1948 by Thomas T. Goldsmith, Jr. and Estle Ray Mann. Their game simply was a missile you controlled with two knobs (Speed and curve/trajectory) and you tried to hit a target on an overlay that was placed over the screen of a TV. Tennis for Two came along in 1958 by William Higinbotham and has been generally credited for being the first real video game. Two players would use controllers to hit a ball back and forth and change the trajectory on a side view of a tennis court, although this game was not available for public consumption. It wasn’t until 1961 that a game became widely available by way of the primitive internet and eventually being distributed on new computers. Spacewar! Was created by a group of students Massachusetts Institution of Technology, the most notable of these students was Steve Russel. It was a two player game where each player would try and destroy/kill the others space craft with missiles, there was also a star in the middle that would destroy you. In 1996 Ralph Baer and a co-worker named Bill Harrison created a video game called Chase; this was the first game to be displayed on a normal television of the time. The two co-workers were joined by Bill Rusch a year later; they continued development on what would be the first video game console and brought the prototype to Sanders R&D where they showed it off to manufacturers. On a somewhat unrelated note Ken Thompson created a game called Space Travel, it became so expensive to run (75$ an hour) that he wished to port it to a less expensive computer. In the process of porting this game with a friend they created an operation system called Unix, Space Travel the game is credited as being the first Unix application. In 1971 the Galaxy Game, a game similar to Spacewar!, was installed at Stanford University. This was the first coin operated video game. Also in 1971 a coin operated version of Spacewar! Under the name of Computer Space was created by Noaln Bushnell and Ted Dabney. They licensed it to Nutting Associates who manufactured 1,500 machines with the game on it. The game was sadly unsucessful due to the difficulty but it was the first mass produced and first video game to be offered for comercial sale. Although their next game would see massive success and forver be a clearly recognizable game amoung the general population. Pong was released in 1972 by the newly formed Atari Inc. Pong immediately received mass success, they sold 19,00 Pong machines and caused many to try and imitate what they created. English 12: African Heritage Essay So Far English 12: African Heritage Names
The two characters I chose from Things Fall Apart were Ezinma and Okonkwo. Okonkwo’s name means “baby boy born on Nkwo”, Or simply “Born on Nkwo market day”. (Unknown Author, "Okonkwo", 2 May 2006, February 16/17 2012, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okonkwo)[1] (Ukwu Dele, "Igbo Names A", 1999, February 16/17 2012, http://culture.chiamaka.com/IgboNames/igbonamesodom.htm)[2] While Ezinma’s name means “Good Path” or “The future looks good”. (Ukwu Dele, "Igbo Names E", 1999, February 16/17 2012, http://culture.chiamaka.com/IgboNames/igbonamese.htm)[3] There doesn’t seem to be much of a connection between the meaning of Okonkwo’s name and his character. I chose these names as I thought it would be interesting to see if there’s any connection between the names due to Okonkwo and Ezinma’s interesting father daughter relationship. I’m unsure whether Okonkwo was common name or not, however the way he was named was common. It was commonplace for Igbo people to name their children based on one of the four market days. (Unknown Author, "Igbo Calendar", 18 August 2008, February 16/17 2012, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igbo_calendar)[4] (Ukwu Dele, "Igbo Names Introduction", 1999, February 16/17 2012, http://culture.chiamaka.com/igbonames.html)[5] Okonkwo’s was named based off of the first market day Nkwo. (Unknown Author, "Okonkwo", 2 May 2006, February 16/17 2012, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okonkwo)[6] I’m once again unsure whether Ezinma was a common name or not however once again she was named in a common way. Ezinma was no doubt named based on the fact that her mother Ekwefi was greatly hoping for this child to live unlike her past children who died due to them being an ogbanje. Names in Igbo culture are decided in various ways. As stated before some names may be based off of the market day. A child may also be named based off of circumstances at the time of their birth, their appearance, and a concern or similar for the future of the child (As was Ezinma’s case). (Ukwu Dele, "Igbo Names Introduction", 1999, March 16/17 2012, http://culture.chiamaka.com/igbonames.html)[7] My first name Daniel means “worshiper of God” or “God is my Judge”. It is a Hebrew name although it does have Irish and Welsh origins too. Origins of the name can also be found in various countries across Europe. (Schoemann Danny, "What does the name 'Daniel' mean", March 16/17 2012, http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_the_name_'Daniel'_mean)[8] (Unknown Author, "What does the Name Daniel Mean | Reference Answers", March 16/17 2012, http://answers.reference.com/information/terminology/what_does_the_name_daniel_mean)[9] (Unknown Author, "daniel - WhitePages Names Popularity", March 16/17 2012, http://names.whitepages.com/first/daniel?log_click=1&site_id=16316)[10] My middle name is Mark which means dedicated to Mars (As in the God of War), Warlike, Defender, and Hammer. It has Latin origins, more specifically Ancient Rome when in regards to Mars (The God of War). My last name Brown means holy and strong. It also means “one with a dark complexion; descendent of brown”. It is of British and Scottish origin. I believe that my name for the most part does not suit me due to my religious views and or beliefs and general how I am. However to some extent my name does suit me; my middle name Mark in my opinion is appropriate in regards to Defender and Warlike. I say this as I can be considered Warlike due to my temper and I can be considered a defender in many ways; the defense of others, myself, and in general my defensive nature. However, whether my name suits me based on the way I am now is simply a matter of the whole Nature vs. Nurture debate. I was named after my uncle Daniel and my cousin Mark. The question of whether I like the name or not doesn’t seem to matter much as it’s the only name I’ve ever known. I can’t imagine ever having another name especially seeing as there’s nothing wrong with my current one; it’s never been deemed embarrassing or anything of that regard so I’ve never had a problem with it nor will I likely ever have one. Within my family the name Daniel doesn’t really carry a special meaning however there are a fair few Daniels within the family. The name Daniel can be traced back very, very far; as far back as Biblical Time.
