I've been in two minds about running for a while. I've decided that I'm going to run, hence why you're reading this promotion bid. So, here's the rundown. I've been an active member of the community for about a year, and a decent member of the community for about 4 months. I have almost 6000 contributions, and I regularly maintain orphaned pages, take care of suburb news archival, and do other janitorial tasks that crop up, like demerging pages. I'd like to run for promotion to help push admin tasks through as and when they're due. I'm frequently on when few other people, let alone sysops, are, as I'm online pretty much most of the time. Also, with only 4-6 active sysops, I feel we could always do with more people churning things through. Last time I ran, I was mainly rejected because of my attitude towards drama, something I've been trying to avoid since the last bid, and, despite a few hiccups, I feel it is something which I have achieved. Now, I throw myself at the mercy of you Donkeys, the ruling crats, and whoever else ambles by.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 23:13, 23 April 2010 (BST)
- VOUCH Also I claim that donkey. 23:32, 23 April 2010 (BST)
- Vouch 2nd. Plus hes capable. --TCAPD(╯°□°)╯ ┻━┻ 23:34, 23 April 2010 (BST)
- Against - I can't really explain this one, it's just that I get vaguely nauseous whenever I picture you ruling on A/VB cases and Misconduct cases and whatnot. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with you in that role and there really isn't a whole lot to do specificially as a sysop apart from that (Deletions and Speedy Deletions are both incredibly light workloads except in rare extreme cases). Also avoiding drama isn't really what people want in a sysop (Rooster cops a decent amount of flak for his policy of never voting on Misconduct or A/VB); they want someone who does get involved in it but manages to handle it effectively. I don't feel as though you can do that. Cyberbob Talk 23:53, 23 April 2010 (BST)
- Weak Against - 0.2% of your last 500 edits were to building reports. --VVV RPMBG 00:41, 24 April 2010 (BST)
- Against - You gotta be shittin me.--T | BALLS! | 00:56 24 April 2010(UTC) |
- Abstain - I'll give some serious thought to it over the next few days, but to some extent, I gotta say that I agree with Cyberbob. It's not about avoiding drama: it's about handling it well, and I'm not sure I trust you completely to do that just yet. Last time you were up, you had made a series of poor decisions around that time, which are still somewhat hard to let go when considering promotions. In the last few months, however, you've been a pretty upstanding member of the community. Your janitorial work around the wiki is very welcome (though those orphan notices, while helpful, are kinda annoying, especially when you put them in obnoxious places :P), and you do a lot to keep things clean and in working order. I'd definitely trust you with the janitorial work, but when it comes to making judgments...kinda the gut feeling thing is an issue. For now, question: what role do you see yourself playing when it comes to making decisions in A/VB, A/M, and similar situations? Will you be active, semi-active, or inactive there, and if you're not inactive, how will you approach cases? —Aichon— 00:59, 24 April 2010 (BST)
- Frankly, I'd like to say I'd be active in all areas of the wiki, but VB is the one I sometimes seem to miss in rounds around the wiki. So, I guess, from that perspective, I'd be semi-active in VB, but I'd try to be really active. Naturally, for the first week or two of being a sop, I'd try to hold back in most cases, and wouldn't rule until other sysops had (making decisions about things on a whim is fine, but as a sysop, I'd have to be alot more careful). If you're wondering how I'd deal with the pressure of complex and drama-filled cases, I'll direct you to this case, where the ruling I suggested on the talk was eventually used in the case.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! - Promote him! - he needs to be doing more work around here. I won't deny Bob raises a very good point about vandal cases and what not, but with the over all lack of good wiki people around here, hes always been around and always making edits and asking questions. If he wants to take it a step further I say let him, worst thing that happens if he sucks at dealing with drama in which case he follows what everyone else says. -- 03:23, 24 April 2010 (BST)
- Follow what everyone else says? Wow. Cyberbob Talk 04:08, 24 April 2010 (BST)
- I think your missing the point. If everyone showed up and voted vandalism would you sit there and read everything everyone wrote and come up with a not vandalism or would you be lazy and see that everyone else voted vandalism. My point exactly. -- 06:22, 24 April 2010 (BST)

- Vouch to Yonnua. When he initially wanted to be an op I didn't like it because he never actually formulated his own opinions or articulated useful points on the administration cases he commented on, he just hovered around. Now he is pro-active in his mass-editing tasks he partakes in and is also a very helpful and nice member of the community. His activity has still remained sound and I like the guy, always helping out the ops and regular users when necessary. Go yon! -- 06:38, 24 April 2010 (BST)

- Vouch - I've always been annoyed by those orphan links popping up on my talk page the very nanosecond that I create a new page. What this demonstrates is that yon is obsessively tending to the order of the wiki, which is a pretty good sign for a sysop I think. Also, anyone who wants it this bad should at least have a chance to show what they can do. Good luck to you.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 13:03, 24 April 2010 (BST)

- Question Look at me not making my intention clear. What area of the wiki needs most improvement? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:49, 25 April 2010 (BST)
- Well, truthfully, I think the wiki's main problem at the moment is that things have just stopped on several major projects. The glossary category tag was removed from loads of pages, but now we've just dropped those pages in the system, and not done anything with them. Likewise, demerging is still going on, but it's happening at a pretty slow rate. Something like the GSGM would speed things up and really make the wiki more functional. Following that, the demerged locations would need more flavour text. Hopping around on randompage gives a gloomy glimpse at how few locations have exciting wiki-pages. I also think we need to streamline Welcome newbie. Frankly, I don't think it's effective for the majority of newbies, and I know that when I got the template I just deleted it straight away. If we can find a better way to get newbs educated and involved, I feel it would avoid things like the Battle of Krinks fiasco, and more precisely its horrific spillout on to admin pages. But, whatever, drama is inevitable. It's just trying to find ways that keep a cap on it, and help new users avoid shitstorms.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 21:25, 25 April 2010 (BST)
- Why do any of these things require sysop buttons? Cyberbob Talk 23:51, 25 April 2010 (BST)
- I didn't think his question was asking me what the most important usage of buttons should be in the near future was, I thoguht he was asking me what area of the wiki needs the most improvement. Besides, WN is protected, and a GSGM of demerged pages would require lots of scheduled deletioning by sysops.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 00:24, 26 April 2010 (BST)
- Question. What have you learnt from your previous bids for sysophood? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 21:50, 27 April 2010 (BST)
- Damn you and your questions of doom. Right, so, from my first brief bid, I learnt that experience is vitally important. Hence, if I am successful, I'll be sure to take a back seat for the first couple of weeks, make sure I don't make stupid errors in my understanding, and get a good picture of things from the sysop side before I go all the way in. My second bid taught me that I need to be patient with things, which kind of links in with the above. I can't make rash judgements or assume that people know something that they don't. My prior conflict with FLZombie, who gave me an against on my bid, showed me that if I just assume that people, however abbrasive they are, know everything about the wiki, I can end up causing unnecessary drama and problems. Hence, in future, whether I make sysop or not, I'm going to ensure I fully understand the situation before I approach it, something i feel I have started to do, but need to continue.--Yonnua Koponen Talk !
