I used the phrase "Speaks in Tongues" to allude to the Pentecostal practice of shouting out gibberish and pretending it's some kind of spiritual language, which is based on a well-known passage from the Christian Bible in which the apostles experience Xenoglossy. If you haven't noticed yet, our advertisement is to be left alone except by registered members of the Abandoned, and any attempts to move it below the two groups stated above will simply be revised. The reason why our advertisement is on top is because when alphabetising, one goes by the Proper Noun (in this case, Abandoned), not the adjective. This is true with the other recruitment adverts, and so is true with anything under the category A. I also left several notes in the History tab of the Recruitment section, with the hopes you would see them and stop messing with the order of the adverts. I thought the group radio one was great. Three pieces of advice though: 1) full automatic weapons will get spammed up the wazoo every single time... sniper rifles too, as well as any sort of gun which can fire from inside a building to the outside ... and if you make a firearms suggestion in general, try to make it something which has not been seen before if you want it to make it to even Undecided, let alone Reviewed (I've made 3 unconventional firearms ideas so far, which got undecided votes, though the nailgun might get to PR next time). 2) Think out your suggestion ideas before making them so you have responses to people who will try to slam them (and they will try to slam them - it's the internet after all - home of the flamewars). Make sure to format properly and try to include at least a skeleton version of stats and mechanics that you're proposing - it makes it easier for people to know what they're commenting on. People will more likely support an idea that seems well thought out and researched than one which seems unfinished and unpolished. 3) Check the Frequently Made Suggestions list - just because your suggestion idea is in that list doesn't mean not to suggest it, but it does mean you need to be ready to explain why your suggestion is different than the many similar ideas made before. Also, there are a lot of jerks on Talk:Suggestion who will probably rag on you - don't let them get to you. In general, people tend to be ruder on the internet than they'd ever dare to be in real life, but there are also some really nice people who, even when they disagree with your ideas, will do so in a mature manner and will sometimes even give you ways of making your suggestion more palatable to the UD community. People are slamming his suggestions because most of them are dupes, horridly vague, or he doesn't listen and respond to input on them. There seems to be a lot of that on that page. Here is the problem with you, Fanglord2, and the Suggestions page. You aren't reading what people are saying that is negative about your suggestions and learning from it. You aren't working on an idea after you throw it out there. You had the gall to say that the discussion was boring. You don't research any of your suggestions. You don't really seem to know how a wiki works. And to answer your question, No it isn't "copying" to use an older idea and 'improve it. If you add something new to it you just might get something Peer Reviewed. I know it is boring going through all those old suggestions. We don't like going through them when people dupe something, but we do to show you where that idea has already been taken. We do it to help you. That's why it really makes people annoyed at you when you ignore or dismiss a link or if you can't be bothered to look for some of your own links. If you have an idea type it in the search box and see what pops up. It might lead you to another idea. If you are serious about coming up with things to improve UD first of all you have to show that you actually know and play the game. Second, you need to see if it has already been suggested. Third, you need to listen to your fellow players. And on a wiki it is customary to respond on the page someone left the comment on. You don't have to respond on their talk page. It breaks up the flow of the conversation. This details the various conditions you have to meet, but it doesn't happen overnight, it took me two years and three Promotion bids to become a sysop. The best way to contribute when you first join is the suggestions pages, particularly the Suggestion Talk page, you can give your opinions on other suggestions and discuss your own ones before you properly submit them for voting. On the Philosophe Knights page, they have a link at the bottom of the page that says "back to top". When you click it, it returns the page to the top again. Thats what I was considering for Umbrella. That code I used is right... I checked it myself. Basically its along the same lines as the table of contents at the top of the page there. No, should there be smoke free zones such as in parks? Yes. Why do I say this you ask? I believe that if smoking is outlawed entirely crime rates will skyrocket because unlike marijuana cigarettes are addictive due to the nicotine in them. Sure you can slowly make smoking a harder thing to do such as what is being done now by making smoke free areas but where does one draw the line? I understand that smoking is harmful to others and cigarette butts can be very harmful but if someone wants to smoke they will do it regardless of any law implemented and I don’t blame them. If you know the risks and you wish to smoke with no regard to what anyone says then I believe they should have the right to do so. In terms of the abundance of cigarette butts on beaches that is more of a act of laziness, although perhaps if the respective receptacles were placed more conveniently there would be less litter… But that’s getting in to a whole other subject. Yes make smoke free zones so as the rest of the public that does not smoke is not subject to the harmful fumes, but it’s unethical for society to try and enforce this on smokers. It would be the equivalent of outlawing alcohol because it’s causes death and injuries through drunk drivers. Yes a valid argument but it has more use then just to go out and fun at the bar. Not only would it greatly affect the economy but it is also culturally important the same as smoking. The article is about the new proposed policy/law in a city hall staff report that smoking should be banned outdoors in public places such as: metro parks, beaches, tennis courts, sports fields, swimming pools, skateboard parks and playgrounds in Halifax. Councilor Linda Mosher is spearheading this proposal/recommendation as it’s a health risk due to second hand smoking and toddlers may ingest cigarette butts. This policy would not be enforced by police officers, although smokers would still be able to smoke in parking lots. This policy would not be applied to all parks and such, as there are only 480 potential sites where outdoor smoking would be forbidden. Public Opinion Polls have shown that people are in favour of making smoke free parks and playgrounds. In conclusion, yes make smoke free zones but stop thinking about everyone else other then the smokers and know where to draw the line on how far you will go.
