"Official Language" article on Wikipedia: |
Typically a nation's official language will be the one used in that nation's courts, parliament and administration. |
Simple proposal: English (American/British dialects notwithstanding) is the only language to be used on UDWiki:Administration and its subpages. (e.g. A/D/S, where the inspiration for this policy came from.)
Non-English votes (e.g. some of the current ones on A/D/S) are to be struck and remain uncounted in tallies until rectified.
This policy has absolutely no bearing outside of UDWiki:Administration and its subpages, save for official sysop actions, such as deletion log comments and warnings - these must also be in English.
Voting Section
Voting Rules |
Votes must be numbered, signed, and timestamped. They can take one of two forms:
Votes that do not conform to the above will be struck by a sysop. |
The only valid voting sections are For and Against. If you wish to abstain from voting, do not vote. |
For

- For - Yes, please. --sannok(talk)(kilts) 20:54, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- For I like how so many people below stated how important a bolded word should be, and yet, how many of them don't have one. Not to mention that we're not barring english, just making it standard in the voting process.... if I understand correctly. -Poodle of DoomM! T 05:01, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- Bolded words aren't necessary on this page if you check the rules to the right, and considering it says that non-English votes will be struck, I'd say it's barring non-English, effectively. —Aichon— 05:09, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- One would think you were clever enough to realise we were demonstrating a point. -- 09:19, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
Against
TegenAgainst! Man, leave it as it was, there is no harm done, and wherever it is done, A/VB can handle it. Also until this passes, zal ik nog graag mij uitte in mijn moedertaal zolang het nog kan. Jullie zeurpieten kunnen me wat, en die Doos al helemaal. Oh ja, Eerste.--Thadeous Oakley 20:31, 26 December 2009 (UTC)- Against - Only the bolded vote should conform to a standard. The language of anything else after the vote should be fair game for anything. 21:00, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Against, and as Misanthropy. - User:Whitehouse 21:05, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Against - I support the idea, just not as presented. As others said during discussion, this may work better as a guideline, rather than as a policy. Also, the wording is hazy on whether just votes or all commentary must be in English. Do votes that are in English with non-English commentary get struck? —Aichon— 21:09, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Do you see that box to the right, that dictates what is and what is not a valid vote, not this idiotic policy. I could have put this entire entry in Klingon and there's nothing that makes it an invalid vote. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 21:17, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Against - Voting in other languages to piss people off is stupid, but so is making it officially illegal to speak anything but English. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 21:21, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Against - Sort of silly, really. To elaborate on Lelouch, anything intended to intentionally disrupt is vandalism anyways. -- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:06, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Against - As Misanthropy, Aichon, and Lelouch. --Maverick Talk - OBR 404 22:23, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Against - I really do not like this idea --C Whitty 23:55, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Only the original bolded word should conform. -- 23:56, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- As Misanthropy and Lelouch. Linkthewindow Talk 00:44, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- Aganist - As DDR, though on pages like Suggestions where votes must be justified it should include the whole thing. Cyberbob Talk 03:23, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- Against. Except for Dutch, ban Dutch.--Mallrat TSI TKS CTD 07:22, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
