Desite this, the suburb has won the annual 'Malton in Bloom' competition for the past three years, from 2007 to 2010, and every Summer the streets are decked with colourful flowers and trimmed topiary.
More recently, it was also the birthplace of [[The Scourge]] in 2016, who destroyed a quarter of the suburb within the first two weeks of their existence.
