WELCOME

The Scourge (kiZombie: Zah Zgaargh) is a zombie horde that started on the NecroConnect forums, when two survivors decided they were tired of Malton being ruled mostly by survivors.
As a response, Baraga and Rotting Rita joined forces and began opening TRPs and safehouses in North Blythville to feral zombies in the area.
Soon joined by other zombies who roam the NC forums, the suburb soon went from a safe place to a combat zone, with survivors trying to defend or reclaim buildings shortly after they were lost.
In the first week alone, 11 different buildings were ruined, mostly during organized strikes, something the local defenders had no defence against.
The Scourge has since visited a number of suburbs across Malton and continue to open buildings to the public with an ever-growing group of shamblers. We have conducted over a thousand Real Time Strikes so far, with more happening every day. In the process, we have ruined more than a thousand different buildings.
The Scourge is an open horde, which means all undead are welcome to join. We encourage members, ferals and undead in general to participate in our strikes, but this is not a requirement.

Group Structure

We have no formal leadership, although every real time strike is lead by a member of The Scourge, to ensure we can break open cans of harman as efficiently as possible. As of now, Rotting Rita has taken on the role of Discord moderator and usual strike leader.
Anyone who wants to join The Scourge only has to add "The Scourge" as his/her group name on his UD profile and contact us, via:

  • Joining our Discord server, where we conduct strikes, hang out and generally produce mayhem. Currently the place to go for all those who want to know where the horde currently is and which buildings are open for "business". It is worth noting that business here means "horrible mauling and desecration of vital body parts".

Policies

The Scourge has very little strict rules, as they believe the undead lifestyle in Malton is defined by absolute freedom. Mostly the freedom to eat what- and whoever they want. The few rules we have in place are:

  • No metagame spying. Metagame spying is considered to be outright cheating and a bit lame.
  • No zerging. We encourage all zombies to centralize their split personalities into one undead abomination.
  • Be polite. No text raping, no childish insults. We're dead, but we're still civilized.
  • Have fun.
  • We have our own guide for those new to being a zombie.

Path of The Scourge

2016

The Scourge started its infamous career in North Blythville in June 2016. We breached the barricades of the Hebditch Building, the only NecroTech facility in the suburb, allowing feral zombies inside. Afterwards, we invaded Julie General Hospital and made it the group's first ruin. Soon, we made the general vicinity of the Hebditch Building unsafe, killing several survivors and ruining most of the TRPs in the center of North Blythville.

With nearly a quarter of the suburb ruined, they moved on to greener pastures and the first Mall target in South Blythville. The destruction of Marven Mall took longer than expected, due to the agressive tactics and persistent defence of local survivors. Kudos! The fun was interupted by several suspected zerglings among the zombies there, which prompted us to leave sooner than expected. We're undead abominations out to kill every living thing in Malton, but that doesn't mean we can't be civilized about it...

Our next stop brought us to the steeples of Greentown, which we found mostly empty. Apparently a decade of zombie apocalypse has made the Maltonites renounce their faith... A pleasant visit to Dartside was up next, and we had lots of fun with the people from Tikhon Medical who truly tried their hardest to get eaten by us at least twice a day!

Tompson Mall, in Lockettside, was next on our list. The breathers here should be commended: they put up one of the most fun fights we've had so far and while we established a bridgehead several times in the SW corner of the Mall, it took us the better part of a week to really break through and ruin the Mall. Several attempts of Baraga and Rotting Rita to get combat revived at the Cheeke Building nextdoors to engage in some banter with the defenders were unsuccesful.

The next stop was Ruddlebank, where the north-east corner proved fruitful but the barricades were real tough. We then moved into Spicer Hills in hopes that the barricades would be less impenetrable, but this wasn't the case. We did our best, but chose to move on. Since we had such success in Dartside during the previous visit, we went back. The barricades started to fall again, and this time we took on buildings we hadn't touched last time. It proved to be our most successful suburb in our travels so far, giving us lots of unique ruins to add to our collection! This included our first-ever piñata at Samborne Towers, which would later inspire some further activities in that department...

In the fall, we passed through Kinch Heights for a couple weeks and then into West Grayside, where much of the suburb, including Pole Mall and Clapton Stadium, fell into our claws. The Scourge then turned southwards through Wyke Hills to settle in at Buckley Mall by Halloween. The Buckley residents proved the toughest yet, and held us off for two weeks over the Halloween season.

The 5th of November saw a hiatus for Scourge strikes, as some members traveled up to Ridleybank to participate. Two members stayed in Buttonville and got up to some hijinks, however, uncovering our first true artifact of worship: the Barhah Bambg!n. While at first installed as a decorative item by an unknown entity in what became known as Pumpkin NT, it quickly became a contested item of worship when The Randoms took it upon themselves to keep our members from licking the venerated pumpkin. Dudemeister, an ancient Malton survivor, was the first to deny the Scourge access, and saw her infamy rise to Satanesque levels within the community of Barhah. The Prophet of Pumpkin Phallacies, Krae, exposed the effects of the artifact upon direct contact in the first holy text, including hallucinations and the claims that it sometimes "whispered" to anyone close enough to hear... Scourge members Baraga and Rita engulfed the area in darkness, in an attempt to have the Barhah Bambg!n expose its enlightenment to them in a show of benign approval... so they can lick it. In the end, despite getting revived as rotters and trying their best, they were unable to lick the pumpkin as the Pumpkin NT was ruined by a zerg.

In the pumpkin's wake, the Scourge began to practice their new calling, piñataing buildings. After some practice in Buttonville, the group moved to Kinch Heights, with the goal of piñataing the entire almost-island around Milverton Place Police Department. However, they faced steep survivor resistance, and so moved a ways to try again in Miltown. Despite some more survivor zergers there, we were able to do a bunch of piñatas and quite a number of GKings, terrorizing Miltown for weeks over Christmas and New Years 2017.

2017

After passing by (and briefly ruining) Mitchem Mall, the Scourge got our first bellow in at the heavily-populated Fort Creedy, where we hung out for most of January. February saw us move up to Rolt Heights, taking on the Burchell Arms Regulars in their home base. The BAR hopped from building to building, but we made sure to keep them on their toes! With the help of some ferals, we took down the Arms multiple times, and stuck around the Rolt/Pescodside area through early March, when our new allies from Feral Clowder showed up. With their help, we were able to ruin and occupy the whole BAR area.

We then moved back down to Pitneybank for our longest residency in one suburb yet! We moved back and forth between Giddings Mall and Fort Creedy from mid-March through June, taking down both over and over. In the process, our numbers swelled: we got onto the stats page with our tenth member in May. With all the new babahs, we dedicated ourselves to helping them level up, saving the tastiest morsels for our young. We also migrated from IRC to Discord to help better run our strikes, and move the Scourge into the 21st century. Meanwhile, our allies in Feral Clowder visited us several times, helping out with some of the tastier (and hardest-to-reach) humans.

Unfortunately, by late June the survivors had decided we were too much for them, and began to create a serious survivor-zerg problem. The Scourge opted to ditch the area, and proceeded southeastwards through the empty lands of Pegton and Dentonside, leaving a wide trail of ruins in their wake, including Tolman Power Station. We then proceeded southwards through eastern Houldenbank, into Penny Heights. Although the survivors there had kept PH safe for nearly three years, they folded like paper before the Scourge, who ruined first Lumber Mall, then crushed the TRPs in southwest Penny before taking down Joachim Mall by the middle of July. For the later part of the month, the Scourge smashed up the Joachim area, ruining the adjacent buildings and nearby TRPs again and again, culminating with another ruin of Joachim.

After departing Penny Heights, the Scourge steamrolled across largely-abandoned Pennville, quickly arriving at GBP-controlled Scarletwood. It took a mere few days for us to destroy their base area, popping into The Scourge/East Grayside for some snacks and, in August, re-entering Wyke Hills to approach our old haunt, Buckley Mall. After taking down nearby TRPs, including the old Pumpkin NT, Buckley itself fell into our claws by the middle of August. We spent a few days messing up Buttonville, before reaching Kinch Heights. After having failed to take it down last November, our increased numbers let us easily smash it up, and get KH a non-safe rating for the first time in nearly four years.

The next stop was Dartside, where we revisited our old friends at Tikhon Medical and took the time to ruin nearly the entire suburb. After some brief strikes in Greentown, we hit and easily took Marven Mall by the end of August. After crushing nearby buildings in South Blythville and Lockettside, Tompson Mall promptly fell at the start of September. Despite our attempt to smash up Ruddlebank, hit rates were so horrendous we decided instead to move on, smashing up eastern Wykewood before arriving back at our starting location in North Blythville and ruining the cluster around Julie General where we started our path a year earlier. It seemed the survivors had cleared out of the area ahead of us — until we found them at Squadron1111's base at Tarasius General in Lerwill Heights. Although the Squadron talked a big game, it took less than 24 hours to clear them out and ruin their base.

By September '17, The Scourge was throwing waves of decayed hands at the barricades of Ackland Mall in Havercroft, and within 24 hours all four corners were in ruins. The next few days were spent educating the locals on the teachings of Barhah. When they had proven to be less than responsive, any survivors that hadn't fled were promptly eaten and the horde moved on to Eastonwood. When Penguinpyro was brought back to the land of the living, found a gun and shot up a police station. Apparently the Soldiers of Crossman don't like us, since they didn't even organize a welcoming party. In retaliation we trashed the place, danced on the remains and someone apparently peed in a corner... Our growing undead band of shamblers then moved to Calvert Mall in Gatcombeton, ruined it, trashed the neighborhood and then ruined it again for good measure before moving to our next targets... BARHAH!

We hung around Shuttlebank for a while — the locals put up a good fight at Fabian General. We moved along to the Bale Mall area, spending much of October trashing adjacent parts of East Boundwood and Yagoton. But it was all a ruse to throw them off our trail, circling back to Fabian General and retaking the area. After celebrating Halloween at Bale Mall, we moved southwards across Yagoton, Brooke Hills and Shearbank, taking Stickling Mall in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, despite a couple Scourgers making an appearance in Ridleybank, no survivors showed up for the Fifth of November.

Our spirits were lifted, however, when Tikhon Medical invited us to a picnic in Shuttlebank, "celebrating" Tikhon Medical's "victory" over the Scourge. We thought it might be a trap, but when we showed up, it was real! All those snacks outside, just waiting to become a picnic themselves. Check out these awesome photos of the festivities.

After filling up our bellies (thanks, friends!), we jogged back over to Stickling Mall, before crossing the Randallbank/Huntley Heights/Heytown area to reach Dowdney Mall in Santlerville. Despite the fact that the BAR area and Treweeke Mall were already in ruins (a good bar can't keep its doors closed these days, can it?), we opted to travel back up that way to hang out in Gibsonton towards the tail end of November, before making a right turn across Spracklingbank to spend the holidays in our old haunt of Pitneybank. Along with some snowy jaunts across Peppardville and Heytown, we repeatedly ruined Giddings Mall and the surrounding buildings through the new year.

2018

We kicked off 2018 in Pitneybank. As the survivors seemed to have given up on the Giddings Mall area, we traveled a few blocks south to take Fort Creedy, which we hadn't visited in a while, and some adjacent buildings in Pegton. We continued to hang around the region, feeding up our Scourglings, engaging in a little friendly PKing, and taking some family photos. After one more jaunt over to Heytown, we turned towards our next targets: Tynte Mall in Pimbank, then Hildebrand Mall in Roftwood and Woodroffe Mall in Tollyton. The RCC proved to be especially noble opponents, and we fought them for much of January and February, as excellently narrated by ZombGG in the Great Scourgin' of Roftwood — I couldn't write it better, so check it out there! You may want to see our many photos, especially of the siege of the Herbert Building, though. We continued to bop back and forth between the three malls through the middle of February.

We were sad to leave the delectable mall cluster, but new ground had to be broken, so we spent the later part of February in migration, from Tollyton through Wray Heights, Gulsonside, and Scarletwood to take out Fort Perryn! We hung around the greater southwest, trashing Pennville, Fryerbank, Penny Heights and Osmondville before making our way back up to Pitneybank in late March, for our third visit there. What can we say, Fort Perryn is just a bounteous feast for our growing Babahz!

After taking down Perryn, we spent March in Spracklingbank and Heytown, before heading northwards to once again visit our frenemies the Burchell Arms Regulars. Over the course of April and May, we tore apart Gibsonton, Rolt Heights, Pescodside, Rhodenbank and Dulston, finally getting the chance to take out Treweeke Mall while also visiting such illustrious sites as the Brain Museum.

By the tail end of May, the greater BAR region was in ruins, and we shambled our way back down to visit our friends in Roftwood. They did such a great job immortalizing our previous visit, so we had to stop by and thank them! And, of course, spend the better part of a couple months trashing their suburb — from late May through early July, we definitely gave the RCC their money's worth. We did make a couple of jaunts to Tynte Mall in Pimbank and over to the Edgecombe/Peppardville area, before moving on to our next targets in July: Woodroffe Mall in Tollyton, Shackleville and then the home base of the Knights Templar in Kempsterbank. We'd never dropped by the home of one of the most illustrious survivor groups, and made sure to pay our respects by destroying their base several times over the course of July and August.

By the tail end of August, we decided we needed a break, and wanted to visit a sight in Malton we'd never seen before: the City Zoo! We quickly crossed the center of the city, ruining some of Galbraith Hills and Barrville along the way, before quickly trashing Ketchelbank. Did you know, at the time Ketchelbank was approaching the five-year mark as a continuously safe suburb? Well, we took out the zoo and much of the rest of it before we could allow that to happen. The Zookeepers didn't really make an appearance, though — perhaps we'll have to return another time!

Of course, being in the north-center of the city in September, we made sure to take in the autumnal colors in Shearbank, Yagoton and East Boundwood — the views are especially lovely from the roofs of Stickling and Bale Malls, and the high chimneys of Southall Mansion. In October, we blazed a trail across Millen Hills, Shearbank, Randallbank and Pimbank, in order to reach our dear friends in Roftwood by Halloween. The Roftwoodites didn't put up much of a fight, though, and we turned Hildebrand Mall from this to this in less than 48 hours, trashing much of the rest of the suburb thereafter while keeping Hildebrand in ruins and hopping over the border to take down Nichols Mall.

At the end of 2018, the Scourge decided to get back to its original goal: to ruin each and every building in Malton. To that effect, we decided to target specific suburbs, going for a 100% ruin rate. Our first attempts were in Tollyton and Wray Heights, where we were thwarted by finding a few buildings already ruined. We hopped over the border into Kempsterbank to visit our old frenemies the Knights Templar for Christmas. Despite our pleasant season's greetings, they opted not to wish us a happy holidays and instead to kick us from Whitenoll. So, of course, we trashed the place and tore up Kempsterbank for a couple weeks in response. Hey, it's 2019, don't you know how we operate by now?

2019

After tearing up Kempsterbank, the Scourge opted to start the new year revisiting a suburb we hadn't stopped by in nearly three years: West Grayside! We tore up Pole Mall and Clapton Stadium, then criss-crossed the suburb trashing it. We then moved on to our next attempt at a 100% ruin rate, and finally got it, in East Grayside — the first suburb in which we've ruined every single building. Thanks, East Grayside, for being so delectable!

We then decided to undertake some cleanup operations (if you can call it that) on Wyke Hills and Hollomstown, both of which we hadn't visited in a couple years. We also hit (and almost entirely ruined!) Danversbank, our last unvisited suburb in the southeast quadrant. After hearing that some harmanz were attempting to repair Whittenside, we smashed up their suburb to keep "Whittensdie" in zombie hands. Our subsequent stop was Scarletwood, as we realized we hadn't paid the Garniss Border Patrol a visit in two years — and we wanted to drop by to say hello!

In mid-April, we got a proposal from our friends in the illustrious RRF, as they were planning to make an attack on Roftwood. We made a plan: while the RRF took out Roftwood, we'd run support by ruining much of Tollyton, including Woodroffe Mall, one of the Roftwood residents' main backups. The mission was a complete success, and we even took the time to clean up our last few unruined buildings in Tollyton — making it the second suburb in which we've reached a 100% ruin rate! Once the area was fully de-harmanized, we headed northeast into Edgecombe to clean up the last refugia of the Roftwood residents, then circled through Pegton and Peppardville for a brief break. But it was a fake-out — we returned to Roftwood in mid-May, just as the Roftwood Coordination Center thought things were settling down. All around, a delicious time — and we look forward to working with the RRF again soon!

We crossed back through Edgecombe to reach Pitneybank for the 2019 edition of our residency there, encompassing most of May through July, including our third anniversary on June 19th! Here's a lovely family photo of us outside Giddings Mall, which, of course, we ruined several times over, despite the fact the humans kept moving back in to feed us. And, of course, we had to occupy Fort Creedy.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to reach one of our goals: Derham Bank, our last remaining building, was already ruined when we got there. So we decided to aim for a 100% ruin rate in other suburbs in the northeast, and over the rest of 2019 did a slow, curving tour, aiming for 100% ruins in each suburb we hit. We succeeded in Spracklingbank in July, but narrowly missed in Heytown, Santlerville and Huntley Heights in August and Raines Hills in September. By this point, we had ruining down to a science, and were trashing 2-3 suburbs a month. Thus, Chancelwood was a breeze (we took out the stadium, the mansion, and the Haslock NT... twice!), and we moved on to Earletown. In September 2019, Earletown had been safe for more than four years, and we had to quickly put an end to that! We also smashed up Pashenton in the run-up to Halloween. We spent that holiday back in Santlerville, completing the 100% ruin and retaking Dowdney Mall.

In November, we returned to Huntley Heights, destroying that suburb again, alongside Randallbank. We headed southwards across ghost-town Pimbank towards our next destination... Roftwood! Visiting the RCC is our favorite activity, and we had a lovely holiday season wrecking their suburb. We were such great guests that they invited us to a Giant Christmas Party! And what's a good party without killing and eating your hosts? We, of course, stuck around into January, long enough to make Roftwood our fifth 100% ruin suburb — a solid accomplishment to kick off a new decade.

2020

2020, can you believe it? We're living (or undying) in the future! After exiting Roftwood we quickly crossed into Stanbury Village in order to take down Kersley Mansion, which we needed for our trophy cabinet. Stanbury wasn't very exciting otherwise, though, so we spent January sacking Shackleville and February crushing Kempsterbank, of course revisiting the KT HQ and also getting another 100% ruin rate there. We took a quick snowy jaunt to Pole Mall, and then on into Tapton and Mockridge Heights, both of which put up little resistance. On Leap Day we crossed into Galbraith Hills, and by the end of March had trounced it and neighboring Shore Hills.

We knew we were encroaching on already-ruined territory to the north, so decided to turn back southwards, into Brooksville. Despite it being so close to our origin point in neighboring North Blythville, we had never been before! Well, we really tore the place up in late March and early April. We spent April destroying Greentown (with a quick pop over the border to trash Marven Mall) and Dartside, where we bet they missed us — it had been three whole years since we'd been in this region! Well, for old times' sake, we had to take down Tikhon Medical and trash the rest of the suburb, of course. In May, we brought some delicious carnage to Lockettside, including taking down Tompson Mall and the adjacent buildings to which the survivors fled.

We then circled around to take out South Blythville, including destroying Marven Mall yet again and getting to 100% ruins, before dipping in to trash Wykewood at the start of June. Soon our reasons for hanging around the southwest became clear — we were back in North Blythville to celebrate our four-year anniversary, of course! Ahh, where it all began — hard to believe it's been four years. Time flies when you're eating brains, I guess! But, unfortunately, once we got to North Blythville we found it mostly in ruins, which made it hard to eat brains party like we wanted to.

We slid over into Lerwill Heights instead and contemplated the next leg of our journey. We made a beeline across Shore Hills, Galbraith Hills and Stanbury Village, arriving in our old haunt of Roftwood at the start of July. After visiting old haunts and taking a couple family photos, we crossed Peppardville to get back to another frequent destination of ours, Fort Creedy. After taking down Creedy with some help from the Feral Undead, then circling through Pegton and up to Giddings Mall in Pitneybank, we crossed back through Peppardville to Tynte Mall in Pimbank. We decided to spend late August and September on feeding our Scourglings, so bopped around Roftwood, Pitneybank and surrounding regions for the rest of the summer.

After visiting Tynte Mall one more time, at the start of October we turned northwards, zipping our way to Dowdney Mall in Santlerville, which toppled like a jenga tower. We then trekked into both Raines Hills and Chancelwood for the purpose of completing our 100% ruin records there. We turned into Lamport Hills, where we had never been before! After thoroughly wrecking it, we spent Halloween in & around Southall Mansion on the border with East Boundwood. November was spent in East Boundwood and Yagoton, where we took out Bale Mall a couple times as well, and got our 10th 100% suburb ruin. Delightful! We finished the year in Shearbank by trashing Stickling Mall. Good times.

2021

We got through our New Year's hangover by stumbling around Shearbank some more, before moving on to Earletown, Chancelwood and Lamport Hills, kicking over any doors and barricades we came across. As our headaches faded, our ability to focus on what we were doing returned, which lead us to carve a devastating path through Pescodside which lasted for the better part of February and even into March. Poor Pescodsidians (Pescodsiders? Pescodsites?) didn't know what hit them. April saw The Scourge's first visit to beautiful Starlingtown! We're not sure how we avoided it for almost five years, but man, did we make up for it.

2022

In August of 2022, a trio of our most daring, most devious (and most dense) zombies created the Parachute Squad Barhah!, which has as its main goal not just to ruin, but to parachute into buildings and piñata them. Within a week, they proved their worth in and around Pegton, as their marvelous creations interrupted freerun routes, slowed down revification efforts and in general annoyed the less-than-dead locals.

Where will the Scourge head next? Check back soon, or join us to find out!
