20070822 Tear Down Doors

Park avenue 04:24, 22 August 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Improvement

Suggestion scope
Zombies

Suggestion description
How realistic is it for a zombie to take down cabinets, lamps, and countless other barricade items that are on the INSIDE of the building, but have to wait around for a zombie with Memories of Life to come open the door? I suggest that zombies will be able to attack and take down doors just like barricades. Perhaps it would take two "successful hits" something like "you bring down the last of the barricades, the doors remain shut and locked." and then after another hit, "you break through the locks, but the door remains latched and on its hinges" finally resulting in "you smash the door off it's hinges." This would require survivors with the Construction skill to put the door back up, possibly having them repair it, before being able to set up barricades. Doors could also be an item that would have to be salvaged from hardware stores/malls/factories. Zombies with Memories of Life could still open the door, so it would still be a disadvantage to not have that skill, but it would make it possible for lower level zombies to have a shot at some XP instead of having to earn it by bringing down 100 barricades.

Keep Votes

  1. Author Vote --Park avenue 04:26, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - An improvement for newbies. --  T   09:00, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Balances the needs of newbie zombies needing to get in a bit more easily, and the needs of newbie survivors needing a way to prevent feeding drag by still being able to close the doors (the other suggestion nerfs that) The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talkcontribs) at 12:17 22 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - As boxy, however i'd suggest that needing construction is a bit of overkill. It doesn't devalue MoL as there's a guaranteed AP gain(100% chance of entering in 1AP as opposed to a random chance of entering in at best 2AP) and MoL is still a pre-req for at least 2 worthwhile skills(Groan and Ransack). IMO, Better thematically than this as all doors i can think of that auto-close also auto-open. Admittedly there is con that this would probably result in cookie-cutter zombie builds relegating MoL to later in the build. If thats a stated concern then it may be a deal breaker. --Bahhab 11:39, 26 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - I like this one better than swiers' actually.--Insomniac By Choice 11:34, 26 August 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Not really a dupe, but there is a suggestion similar to this one already under voting. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:32, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  2. I like this better.--Pesatyel 05:15, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Me too! BoboTalkClown 15:10, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - I don't think so. Zeds wouldn't even bother getting the memories of life skill when they can just spend two AP to tear a door down and force survivors to replace it. --Sonofagun18 07:28, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - what Pesatyel wrote --~~~~T''' 08:37, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - if this gets accepted, survivors are going to get marked as "raw material". Imagine 5 zombies tear down barricades, and the only thing between you and those brain-eaters is the door and they take it down....--  Savant  Chit-Chat  10:09, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - I don't like having to be repair the door before you can barricade. --Midianian 11:02, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - haven't we already got feeding groan and xp for tearing down barricades? Plenty of us managed to level up without these bonuses anyway... --MarieThe Grove on Tour 11:22, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill - Next time survivors actually turn a horde away during a siege, this sort of zombie boost might be needed. Want to level up? Find a big zombie group to dine with. -- Pavluk 11:45, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - 1. Look at the f'ing suburb map once in a while. 2.Completely misses the point of 'memories of life' and of even having the door there. 3. You can always munch on other zombies for newbie XP. 4. If you are incredibly moralistic about ZK'ing, some survivors ARE stupid enough to sleep outdoors. Nalikill 13:18, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - as many above, I also prefer this suggestion --Ryiis 15:13, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - just incase out of nowhere you get a dozen keep votes. This idea needs to die. and not shambling undead sort of die that can come back to bite you but i mean creamated. --Jack13 15:29, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - As above. --Saluton 15:38, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  14. Kill - I WANT to like this idea, but generations of young zombies have done fine without it. Beating on barricades isn't the way most new zombies level up. ZKing is a fact of life, and it is far more efficient. If a newbie manages to catch a survivor in the streets, or hear a feeding groan close by, consider it a bonus. --Steakfish 23:39, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  15. Kill - As above. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 07:31, 23 August 2007 (BST)
  16. Kill -Yes, all that definitely isn't realistic. GET RID OF THE ZOMBIES!--AlexanderRM 13:10, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  17. Kill -The zombies already have it too easy. The humans are currently at a disadvantage and this would only make it worse--Scout 2107 14:28, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  18. No chance - See above. --WanYao 18:32, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  19. Kill MoL balances out with Construction. --Jon Pyre 16:00, 6 September 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Dupe - Others seem to think there is a difference I can't see it. This idea is the same as that idea, it's ransacking a door. Small differences mabey, but every sniper rifle has small differences. Voting Dupe.--Karekmaps?! 23:24, 24 August 2007 (BST) I linked the wrong suggestion, should be fixed now.--Karekmaps?! 12:42, 28 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Dupe -Any of the link given would work. the effect on the game would be the same. I believe there is an exact match in the archives. But I'm too lazy to search for it.-- Vista  +1  11:21, 4 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Dupe away fellas! --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:39, 5 September 2007 (BST)
