First Aid Station

Timestamp: MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 21:16, 4 October 2006 (BST)
Type: Searching buff to First Aid skill
Scope: First Aid skill grants FAK search chances in several work related buildings
Description: Simple enough, First Aid is considered by many an undesirable skill.. but what if that knowledge buffed your chances of finding FAK's in various non-resource buildings? Useful if all of the best FAK buildings in a surburb are overrun/ransacked.

First Aid Station: Building Feature the following buildings grant a search bonus to finding FAK's to characters searching in them who have the First Aid skill. This search bonus replaces "you find nothing" search chances. And these search bonuses are also increased with a running generator just as this building's base chances are also increased in that manner.

  • Auto Repair Shop, Power Station, Stadium, Railway Station, Factory, Warehouse (2% FAK search chance)
  • Armoury, Hotel, School, Fire Station, Police Station, The City Zoo (1.5% FAK search chance)(City Zoos have vet medical equipment.. but bandages are bandages.)

This skill is meant to reflect danger in the workplace and how some workplaces have at least a minimum of first aid supplies, many have a lot more. Often at least a handful of those employees available usually have the first aid skill.

This suggestion isn't meant to do much, but it does make First Aid a more desirable, and possibly very effective skill. Your character would be more free to get out there and assist which is the entire point of getting those XP!

Keep Votes

  1. Author Keep - New doctor and medic characters could use this, especially if nearby hospitals are overbarricaded. A slight buff to finding FAK's in buildings you don't normally look for them. Even a cop/fireman wouldn't mind getting an FAK here and there at their station if they could. Note: These are all non-mall buffs for search rates, so this is an increase of FAK's to the non-mall based survivors. Usually good for new characters. --MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 21:16, 4 October 2006 (BST)
  2. Keep- I like this. It makes sense a person with first aid would be able to more effectively find First Aid Kits.--Grigori 21:22, 4 October 2006 (BST)
  3. Keep - So good.--Canuhearmenow Hunt! 21:30, 4 October 2006 (BST)
  4. Medic! - I bring thee no kills, nor do I gift ye spame - only Keepeth, doeth I. --Funt Solo 22:23, 4 October 2006 (BST)
  5. OH NOES!!! - I'm low on health!!!1 Oh wait, There's the zoo! I'm saved! (Sorry couldn't resist)--Labine50 MHG|MalTel 22:40, 4 October 2006 (BST)
  6. Someone help me...because I just had a heart attack after relizing how GOOD this suggestion is. --Axe Hack 23:03, 4 October 2006 (BST)
  7. Paper Cut - Since no one has come up with a valid reason to shoot this down, I can't see why not. --Officer Johnieo 24:31, 4 October 2006 (BST)
  8. Keep - Remember kids, your saftey at work is important. First Aid kits are there for your convenience. Seriously, what kind of a dangerous workplace does not have First Aid kits? I mean, come on guy(s) in Kill, think of the workplaces! You're going to tell me next that an office building does not let you jump out of the window, because it's a strategy building? Kaylee Hans 00:08, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  9. Keep - yes super idea,totally support--Kcold 00:35, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  10. Keep - Yes. Youronlyfriend 02:34, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  11. Keep - Even if this wouldn't be terribly useful for expressly searching for FAKs, if would be a nice bonus when looking for fuel cans, spray cans, generators and other such items, so it provides sort of a secondary benefit of sorts. I think this works for that reason. --Rgon 15:37, 5 October 2006 (BST)
    • Re - That was my true intention right on the nose. Here's an FAK or two for searching in the "other" buildings. Cuz it's a first aid station.. not a pharmacy in a mall with half an aise dedicated to just bandages. --MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 16:33, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  12. Keep - Medics have a hard time leveling at first. Anything that makes them better gets my vote. --Preasure 19:36, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  13. Keep Just makes sense. Every business usually has a fak even if it's in a supply closet and if you don't want it you can always drop it.--John Blast 15:22, 18 October 2006 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill Want resources? Protect resource buildings. This defeats a major part of zombie strategy. --Jon Pyre 23:30, 4 October 2006 (BST)
    • Re - I dig, that's why I kept the search rates low, these buildings aren't used for much else anyways. And a hospital/church is much better for FAK searching. #1 FAK source is still malls, but I'm staying away from suggestions that hoop malls for a while... --MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 00:43, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  2. Kill - Eh...First Aid is not an undesirable skill. It all depends on the type of character played. If you plan on being a healer, First Aid is an absolute must. Stick with Hospitals and Malls. Zombies have to have some kind of chance to get at survivors. Bentley Foss 03:45, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  3. Up the search chances some (5% and 3%?). I like that it makes both a skill AND locations more useful. Plus, since it doesn't significantly change anything in the game, it doesn't hurt the game (and also moves things away, albeit on a small scale, away from the mall-centric gaming). Don't like it, don't have to use it.--Pesatyel 05:10, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  4. Kill - Changed vote after seeing how pointless it would be to search for a FAK in anywhere else then a resource building.--Mr yawn 06:32, 5 October 2006 (BST)
    • RE No more then searching for ammo at a gunstore over a pd. Gunstore is still the best place, but you still search pd's when you can't get to a mall.--John Blast 15:22, 18 October 2006 (BST)
  5. Kill - Makes sense in real life, but gamewise would make FAKs too common. --Nob666 09:15, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  6. Kill - as others. --ExplodingFerret 10:28, 5 October 2006 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. SPAM Why would anyone ever search in a Railway Station for 1 FAK per 50 AP? Or worse, in a Hotel or similar building for 1 FAK for every 66 AP spent searching? This falls squarely within the "I deliberately made this suggestion useless" category. Even if your entire suburb is trashed by zombies, you get better FAK bang for your AP buck by travelling two or three or even four suburbs away to search hospitals, than this bullshit. The keep votes reaffirm my long-held contention that the voters on the suggestion page haet Math, and the suggestion itself reaffirms my contention that Aushvitz sucks balls at it. Rheingold 03:47, 5 October 2006 (BST)
    • Re - You make several significant, even valid, points. However you can clearly see I did not intend for these to be good FAK resource buildings.. just alternate ones (admitedly, even shitty ones.) I've learned the hard way math can undermine a suggestion's success, unfortunately, the simpler the suggestion, the better. Look at it this way, if you're searching in an auto repair shop.. chances are you're stocking up on generators, and spray cans.. you aren't going to mind an FAK here and there.. instead of nothing. So these search chances aren't useless just better than nothing. A little something for your First aid skill. In that, your First aid skill gives you a few optional places to find FAK's, some of which may be buildings you do frequent (Police station, Fire station). It's better for starting characters, admittedly. Sound fair? --MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 15:17, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  2. Spam - Voting Spam for old times sake. Also, because statistically useless + conceptually annoying = pig hooves and leftover cow fat. --Undeadinator 04:44, 5 October 2006 (BST)
  3. Spam - worthless--Gage 21:19, 18 October 2006 (BST)
