New note: This group's main control has had a change of heart. ACRID is now a zombie/surviver group, dedicating itself to it's new contract with Sentinel Security

NOTE: This group and all it's members have become infected by the very same virus that they were previously fighting to control. All previous allies and allegiances have been dissolved. They now roam Malton, spreading their foul disease in pursuit of Barhah.

The following information has been preserved for it's historical content. For more details or to join this micro-horde, please leave a message on the discussion page or in the cemetery at; ACRID

Animal Control and Rabies Intervention Division

Animal Control and Rabies Intervention Division -(ACRID), a local division of the Police Department was formed in response to heightened complications of the Type-B Rabies virus discovered in Malton.

What is Type-B Rabies?

Type-B Rabies is a viral infection that affects the nervous system of mammals. It is usually transmitted by an infected animal's bite. The incubation period, the period between exposure to the disease and onset of symptoms, begins almost immediately. Like other viral infections, rabies does not respond to antibiotic treatment. It is always fatal once symptoms occur. These symptoms may include behavior changes, like unusual aggressiveness or paralysis (frequently beginning in the hind legs or the throat of an animal) as well as partial physical reanimation of the body after death. Brain Rot can occur in advanced cases of infection. Prompt vaccination following a bite can prevent rabies in humans. Periodic vaccination before exposure does not prevent infection from the Type-B virus. Treatment can only be found with an appropriate anti-viral injection currently manufactured only by Necro Tech employees.

How can I avoid exposure?

Avoiding encounters with wildlife can reduce the risk of exposure to rabies during an outbreak. It is advised to stay indoors as much as possible during an outbreak and to barricade the windows and doors to discourage entry of infected humans and animals. Do not attempt to handle or capture sick or apparently "orphaned" wildlife. Avoid animals and/or humans acting strangely, especially those that act unusually tame, aggressive, or paralyzed. Be wary of strangers that may choose to occupy your building. Be suspicious of daytime activity in raccoons, foxes, skunks, and bats, which normally come out only at night. Report animals suspected of rabies to the Animal Control and Rabies Intervention Division.
