20070826 1 XP for Ruin
Steakfish 21:57, 26 August 2007 (BST)
Suggestion type:
Slight change to Ruin
Suggestion scope:
Everybody, I guess.
Suggestion description
I submitted this suggestion before (just after Ruin was introduced), and it seemed to be well on it's way to Peer Reviewed. Since the last update, though, Ruin now has more significant effects. I withdrew the original, and am resubmitting it now, since many people may wish to change their votes. I still think that changing a building's status to "Ruined" should give a 1 XP reward, just like the initial Ransack of the building does. This would give zombies a source of experience that isn't related to combat (survivors have several non-combat XP sources). It would be a small, self-limiting source, since a building can only be ruined once, until someone fixes it. It's not very AP efficient (about the same as beating on barricades, or reading books). It does, however, give Zombies something usefull to do in the more unpopulated suburbs. Besides, I'm sure all you Survivors would rather have the Zombies burning their AP on ruining empty buildings than tearing down YOUR barricades. --Steakfish 21:57, 26 August 2007 (BST)

Keep Votes
- Author's Vote - I think Ruin still deserves 1 XP. --Steakfish 21:59, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Could cut down ZKing. I agree, it should be the same as ransacking. Park avenue 23:01, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep --Secruss 23:46, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I like it. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 12:02, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I like to think of XP as being like the rings in Sonic. They guide you down the right path, but they're not your goal. -- T 16:08, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Seems fare to me, to give a zed, at least, one lousy XP for its effort. --Sonofagun18 16:27, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Its silly that it isn't already. --Druuuuu 17:25, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Keeper It looks like there are less zombies then people, So, Why not? --Kaynex 19:41, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep --~~~~T''' 21:02, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Why not? - Survivors have spraypaint, books, and so much other crap, and it's only 1 XP! BoboTalkClown 21:42, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I thought it did already! Oh, well! It should give XP...don't see why not...Standard Zombie 02:12, 28 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - It's only 1XP for expending several AP, why not?- Pavluk 11:23, 28 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - It's not overpowered, so i think its good.-MikhailA 13:45, 29 August 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Hyper-Kill- Enough of a headache for survivors already.Nalikill 22:53, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Please, Ruin does'nt need any more of an incentive. It already acts as a booby trap to screw over frerunning routes.--Seventythree 00:10, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill it Dead - It screws with FR. It doesn't need more of an incentive.--Driaquer 00:23, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Unnecessary. --The Hierophant 11:32, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- I see no purpose. Anybody who has purchased the Ransack skill (and hence could earn XP this way) is already doing rather well at earning XP. Comment- HELL NO this isn't a dupe. An essential point of removing a suggestion is that it makes said suggestion NOT a "dupable" link. Else there is no reason to ever remove anything, eh? For more discussion on this, we should use the talk page. Swiers 14:25, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Ruin is more of a strategic thing, counterpart to building barricades, than a particularly character-showing act - I don't think it fits for it to give XP. --Pgunn 15:19, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - More XP for zeds? No. --Abi79 AB 16:58, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Headshot - as above... --WOOT 22:38, 27 August 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes
Dupe-Changing vote cause semantics.--Karekmaps?! 14:08, 6 September 2007 (BST)Please find and linkFound it, it's the exact same suggestions. Time frame shouldn't matter, nothing has really changed here.--Karekmaps?! 00:22, 27 August 2007 (BST)- RE: same author, Been deleted. This isn't a dupe. --Kaynex 19:42, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- That one has been removed, so doesn't qualify for a dupe. I suggest you vote again The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talk • contribs) at 10:58 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Strange, I didn't notice the removal but, it was a pointless removal anyway. There is absloutely no good reason why that one was removed and this one suggested, the results of the voting look to be identical, the suggestion is identical, the small change in ruin doesn't change this ones mechanic, the only difference I see between the two is that suggestion has a comment from Kevan on the discussion page. It is a waste of everybodies time and the previous one should have been left open, the way I see it is it's him trying to go through a loophole in the voting rules to get this through without the comments on the discussion page.--Karekmaps?! 01:54, 28 August 2007 (BST)
- Your assumption about my intentions is incorrect. Please read my comment below, and then check out the discussion page. --Steakfish 02:55, 28 August 2007 (BST)

- Dupe - It's still a dupe if someone else has already suggested it, no matter if it went through the system or was aborted. That's the way I see it for the short term anyways (like within the same week or two). --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 11:15, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- I am the author of the older one AND this one. The mechanic for Ruin changed. I thought people might want to change their votes because of that, so I removed the old one, which was just a couple days away from Peer Reviewed, and brought it back here. --Steakfish 12:57, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- RE: Then you should have made a note on the previous suggestion in bold/italics regarding the change. Not put something to a vote to get the same results and note your feelings about how the change didn't matter. Things like this are why people normally spam any changes to a recent game addition in suggestions.--Karekmaps?! 01:57, 28 August 2007 (BST)
- I appologize for putting this up twice, but many of the votes on the old one were along the lines of "Kill- Ruin helps survivors more, so why reward zombies for doing it?" and "Keep- It would make Ruin worthwhile." I didn't want my suggestion to get through to Peer Reviewed with so many people voting for reasons that are no longer valid. I did it because I thought it was the right thing to do, not because I wanted to squelch the discussion, Spam the Wiki, or get more keep votes. --Steakfish 02:37, 28 August 2007 (BST)
