20080528 Memory Log

Suggestion description
Isn't it annoying that you only have access to a list of events that have transpired since your last turn? Personally, I've lost track of a lot of data (e.g. feeding groans, flares, conversations) when I've stood up too soon without thinking, or used a first aid kit to heal infection as my first move. I think it would be really neat if there was some kind of button you could use to access a "memory log" of all the events your character witnessed over the last 10-50 turns so you could keep track of things a little more easily. I also think this makes sense in-game, as people don't tend to forget what just happened to them as soon as they move to do something else.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author keep. Thanks for reminding me ;-)--Pac8s 14:18, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  2. Keep - As long as it's not a dupe, I'm voting Keep on this. Can't always press the back button when you log on in the middle of a zombie break-in and probably not too hard to implement. And like Rosslessness said, remember to vote on your own suggestion as an author keep. --Tselita 22:48, 28 May 2008 (BST)
  3. Keep - "POSTDATA". 'Nuff said. --WanYao 06:54, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  4. Keep - Useful. - Grant (talk) 07:39, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  5. Keep - I find it incredibly annoying to log in the game amidst much action, but have the server fail to load the page on login, try again, and login with no information of what had happened at all. Although I think I suggested that information simply not disappear until a new turn is made, this would do just as good a job at preventing problems like that.--Kolechovski 20:22, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  6. keep--Minigun4523 20:37, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  7. keep Ioncannon11 21:12, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  8. keep Tarumigan 06:126, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  9. Keep - The ability for people to get tricky with software is no excuse for a poor interface. --Pgunn 04:05, 30 May 2008 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill this has been suggested before. But in the meantime, don't forget there's that back button on your browser. Dont forget to vote on your own suggestion.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:42, 28 May 2008 (BST)
  2. Kill - Back button, at least one ready GM script/firefox extension doing it, one more script being written ATM. It will only confuse others. If options above don't work for you - you may open new tabs every time you see something that you want to save for later. --  23:22, 28 May 2008 (BST)
  3. Kill - Waste of bandwidth. Use Open in new tab or Duplicate tab or just save a copy of the page. These methods are safe to use in the middle of a battle (even if the Back button isn't.) --Explodey 00:09, 29 May 2008 (BST)
This is an invalid vote. Suggestion voting rules clearly say that bandwith and technical issues should not be presented as reasons against voting keep for a suggestion. Ioncannon11 21:12, 29 May 2008 (BST) Non-Author Re struck. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 21:20, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  4. Kill - All good suggestions. What about the feel of losing those important, quotable events? You might be so mad you kill somebody in your safehouse. It's part of the ambiance of the game, like why people still play ASCII games and mumblety-peg. They're the same, dammit. --Vandurn 00:54, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  5. Kill - Not a bad suggestion, but the back button suffices for me.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  01:28, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  6. Just cut and paste into notepad. How far back do you REALLY need to go beyond the "since your last turn" anyway? The "since your last turn" is all the information you didn't get when you logged out. If its before that, your already aware of it since you were playing at the time.--Pesatyel 03:18, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  7. Kill - Not with the current interface and action spam we have. I also think it would be much better done as an extension.--Karekmaps?! 06:59, 29 May 2008 (BST)
  8. Kill I prefer PRTSCR myself. Especially if I log in and find I have been PKed. --– Nubis 14:23, 29 May 2008 (BST)
