Shackleville Barricade Plan Proposal

The Malton Fire Department is preparing to release a barricade plan for the suburb of Shackleville. The plan will follow the guidelines of the Uniform Barricade Policy. These guidelines include the following:

1) The Uniform Barricade Plan calls for all buildings to be EHB except for the following tactical resource points, which should be maintained at VSB:

a. Fire stations b. Police Departments c. NT Buildings d. Schools

2) The UBP calls for a minimum ratio of 3:1 EHB buildings to VSB buildings. There are just under 60 buildings in Shackleville. That means we need at least 15 VSB buildings (including the resource buildings).

3) In addition, the UBP calls for at least two VSB buildings per quadrant and at least 1 VSB building per 9 block radius.

The MFD has called for public comment on the following issues:

I) What buildings should be maintained at a barricade level higher than the level specified in the UBP?

  • The MFD is prepared to make exceptions to the rule that certain buildings remain at VSB if the public needs them higher for defensive purposes.

II) Besides resource buidlings, what buildings should be VSB entry points?

III) Should the NecroTech at the Raymond Building [55,66] be kept at EHB?

  • Raymond is the only source of syringes in the suburb and there isn't an easy to reach alternative outside the suburb. The building is frequently under zombie attack. However, keeping this building higher than VSB may be unfair to survivors without freerunning.

This comment period will be open from now until 2300 BST on Friday, June 1. After that, a draft barricade plan will be released, and another 10-day comment period will be opened before the draft is finalized. Comments may be posted here or on my user talk page. Thank you. The Malton Fire Department has issued a proposal to establish a barricade plan for the suburb of Shackleville. To view a draft of the proposed plan, please click the thumbnail image to the right.

This plan has been designed in accordance with the Uniform Barricade Policy, with with two significant departures:

1) Consideration has been given to the defensive concerns of survivor groups whose presence in Shackleville pre-dated the arrival of MFD personnel.

2) The Raymond Building, the sole Necrotech facility in Shackleville, has been designated Extremely Heavily Barricaded. This important resource has been under heavy pressure from zombie attacks, and is the only source of revivification syringes in the suburb. Thus, it is the opinion of MFD planners that the Raymond Building should be maintained at EHB, to preserve its use at least for survivors with free running.

The MFD posted this proposal at 6 June 2006 03:30 (BST). A 10-day public comment period will follow, to be closed at 16 June 2006 23:00 BST

During the comment period, survivors who reside in Shackleville or otherwise have an interest in this plan should post comments or questions on the Talk page.

The MFD is prepared to make accomodations for the defensive needs of any survivor group with a long-term presence in Shackleville, and will consider all comments and suggestions.

In addition, comments and questions may be directed to Capt. Brian McStay -- the preparer of this draft plan -- on his Talk page, or at the Brainstock.tk forums.

Following the comment period, the plan will be adjusted as necessary, and then finalized. MFD personnel then will work to implement it, in conjunction with allied survivor groups. All survivors are urged to assist the MFD and its allies in ensuring that barricades remain at designated levels. Do not overbarricade! The life you save may be your own.

hostage situation

Shackleville members of Fortress were given an unltinmatum. Leave all the schools in the area and make all hospitals no kill zone like St. Alexander's Hospital in Lockettside. Until the damands are met all survivours sleeping in schools in Shackleville and the surounding suburbs are hostages. We can not force them to stay, but we can kill them if they do. This ultimatum was given to the group Fortress. They must remove their men from all schools in malton, and make all hospitals in their teritory no kill zones. If you have a friend who sleeps in a school, and will not leave; help us to get fortress to obey. Kill them were you see them, and the name of the person you want safe will be put on the list. If you wish to do this go the the hitman discussion and ut a name of a survivor and the names of those frotress members you killed to portect that person. Remeber everyone in malton is a pker or was at one point, you were either cold blooded or you did it to survive, will you kill one to save others....no this is not a Jigsaw want to be. and this was started by the 2nd in command no me. Revive Points

While adding an update to the News section I noticed an old reference to a Revive Point at St. Helier's Church in Shackleville. I'm not aware that this RP is presently operating, but I do know of the revive point at Swaffield Plaza. If I'm wrong, please feel free to correct. Brian McStay, 01:20 8 May 2006 (GMT)

Barricade Plan

Just a note that having been through some of the South parts of the Suburb, the Barricade plan is not being adhered to. I could not find any VSB buildings, the eastern fire stations and hospital were all unenterable, and even Clubb Cummings which is labelled as unbarricaded was beyond entry. I'd advise any low level survivors to be extremely cautious when entering Shackleville -- Ricold 14:04, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I've just updated much of the center section of the Shackleville Barricade Plan map. In practice, pretty much the entire 3x3 center square is EHB, with Clarkson Lane Fire Station as sole entry point. This has grown as such due to the concentration of all of the TRPs in that area, making it a constant target for attacks. Looking at the map now, a slight rethinking of the barricade plan might be wise. Adding a few non-important buildings as entrypoints could be an option. (The Baskomb Museum or either of the two auto repair shops might be options) --Grungni 11:07, 16 October 2009 (BST)

Hi. We at The Fortress are entirely happy with the current Shackleville_Barricade_Plan and agree that it should be adheered to as published. Shackleville has traditionally been a heavily caded suburb (particularly because of its hazardous central Malton location). If, however, a new VS entry point was created at the Baskomb Museum - for instance - there would be no issue from us. Talon Company has been occupying the Rayfield building for around 276 days now, and we've been keeping the junkyard south of there vsb rather than the Rayfield. The reason for this being that the junkyard is a valuable culmination of resources for our newbies without free running. The JY as an entry point also works better, as it is more centralized. People working the Stanbury Monument RP can also spend 1 more AP a day getting needles. (bleive me it ads up) can we please change the plan to show that the junkyard south of the Rayfield building is the entry point instead? World 'globe 23:43, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

NPOV

I'm not trying to be a Wiki-Nazi or butt my head into matters not my business, but the Recent News section has become increasing non-NPOV of late. I deleted the last two entries regarding a possible "survivor victory" in Shackleville for two reasons: 1) Both were non-NPOV, although Papa Moloch's entry was an understandable response to the first entry; 2) I've been to Shackleville recently, and I see no evidence that survivors "may win this yet." The initial poster "James" indicated the zombie horde was being "pushed" into the western half of the suburb; that happens to be exactly the opposite of what really appears to be happening, since the RRF seems to have moved east of its own accord.

I felt it was time for a more objective (although not disinterested, as I play a survivor) viewpoint to intervene. I am not going to go back through the entires to clear out the NPOV comments, although I am tempted to remove the totally unsubstantiated claim that the RRF employs spies. Wiki suburb pages are not the place to claim or debate "victories," issue calls for help or even post survivor diary entries, interesting though they may be. Recent News is for posting factual, objective information.

Let's try to keep it on the level and have fun! Having the RRF in the area makes the game exciting and challenging. So let's please relax, respect our opponents, and be grateful for the great gaming experience they provide. -- Brian McStay 02:40 February 16 2008 (UTC)

Great Suburb Group Massacre 2010

All suburb wiki pages are undergoing a clean up to remove inactive groups from the group listing (see here: this suburb's groups). If you are a group currently listed in this suburb, you will be contacted on your group's talk page within the next few days and asked to reply, indicating that you are active in this suburb. Groups that fail to reply within two weeks of being contacted will automatically be removed from the suburbs where they are listed.

We're posting here in the hopes that more groups will be aware of the clean up and can respond appropriately, since our team does not have the time nor the manpower to seek out every group in-game or track down its group members elsewhere on the wiki. If you know that some groups in your suburb do not check the wiki, please be a good neighbor and let them know that they NEED to check it for this, or else they will be unlisted in the near future.

The wiki members coordinating the cleanup will be using the table below to track their progress in communicating with the various groups. Please do not edit it if you are not involved with The Great Suburb Group Massacre 2010 team.
