Really dumb questions
OK-You seem like a pleasant chap with a sense of humor so I am going to ask a couple of...well, remedial questions that I will bet I could find out if I endeavored to actually READ the appropriate guides-if they can be answered by a simple referal please feel free to direct me with the appropriate chagrin inducing comment. I have a couple of stalled projects that you refered to as orphans-Oliver referances aside (I doubt giving them more oatmeal would help!) how should fix this? Also, I noticed you have archives with their own snappy plates to link them-how do you do that? Thanks for your help and I will give your character a bottle of The Macallan when we meet in the game for your help!--Belisarius17 16:27, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- An orphaned page just means nothing links to it. That makes it really hard to find. Make a signature with the links in it to advertise your pages. As for the archive, put it on your page you want to archive and name it. Say you name it archive. Save the edit and then go to that page to make the archive. For example:
- {{ArchiveNotice|ArchiveName=Archive}} on this page would link to this. You dont have to put the main name space. Just the subspace you want the archive to be in. Answer your questions? :) --Haliman - Talk 04:39, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Group template edits
Just saw you were changing the suburb_groups variable in the suburb pages. I don't think there's a need to, since from what I understand, that variable is no longer being used at all. Of course, if you're trying to clear up those "phantom inclusions" that were mentioned on A/SD, then I suppose you're doing a good job, but you could probably just as well delete the entire variable, I would imagine (don't quote me on that though, since I haven't looked into it in enough detail yet). —Aichon— 01:44, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Oops
I didn't mean to undo your edit without an explanation, but there's a new sysop button that lets me do that, and I completely forgot that it skips the whole "provide a reason" step. Anyway, to explain why I did it, Misanthropy's edit is technically correct as well. Historically speaking, using "their" as a singular, gender neutral term was an accepted practice for centuries, and only fell into disfavor in the last few decades after a few style guides in the 1900s condemned the practice for various reasons. Long story short however, the practice has been seeing a resurgence recently (thank God, if you ask me) as a sort of backlash against the wordiness of the politically correct "his or hers" phrase that has become common. Since I prefer use of "their" to "his or hers", I switched it back, but it's just a matter of preference for me, and if you'd like it the other way, I have no plans for an edit war over something so trivial, so feel free to revert me. :P
Of course, the reason I was gonna provide if I hadn't clicked the wrong button would have been, "Actually, either is correct, and I like his better :P", just so you know. Thanks for sticking up for me though! I'll return the favor one of these days. —Aichon— 06:50, 4 April 2010 (BST)
