Urban Dead might have a few grammatical errors in it. If you find one, post them here and the staff will update the in-game grammar, removing common errors from every day life.

Unresolved

External Military typo

25.96 MHz: "... streets are looking clear in Buttonville ... lights are on across the suburb ... infrastructure looks intact too ... the Fort Buildin is being held ... the Pryor Building is out of action ..."

After years of playing, I've just noticed this one. The example was from October 27th, 2011. The typo itself was first found in 2007, the year External Military radio was implemented. -- Kittithaj 09:57, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

NecroTech Plurality

NecroTech need DNA samples from the dead, not the living.

should be:

NecroTech needs DNA samples from the dead, not the living.

Because NecroTech is a singular noun. --VVV RPMBG 03:23, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

I think that could be an ellipses in play, which surmounts to: "NecroTech [employees] need DNA samples from the dead, not the living." If it is particularly referencing the NecroTech corporation (and not some many persons) then yeah, S, plural. But it's a bit ambiguous. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 03:30, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Dieing of infection on street(s).

Wakely Drive 31, 41 "You lost 1HP to your infection. You slump to the floor, dead." Should be: "You lost 1HP to your infection. You slump to the ground, dead." Or seeing it's drive it could be:Pavement, sidewalk, or whatever it is you people in England call sidewalks and roads.

It might be smart to make them seperate events in the "Since your last turn" section. Like this:

  • You lost 1HP to your infection.
  • You slump to the road/pavement/sidewalk, dead.

You are dead.

Healing Zombies

Should be:

Because sentances start with capital letters. --VVV RPMBG 00:21, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Extremely Heavy Typo

The building has been so heavily barricaded that you cannot leave by the main exit.(You can find another way out by clicking on an adjacent block, but won't be able to re-enter this building from the outside.)

There should be a space between 'exit.' and '(You'. --VVV RPMBG 05:00, 25 October 2010 (BST)

Billboard(s)

You are at Biffen Lane.
A large advertising hoarding shows a slogan for NecroTech Somebody has spraypainted Necrotech = Death across it.

I don't think it should say "hoarding". And there should probably be a period after NecroTech. --VVV RPMBG 23:03, 26 August 2010 (BST)

Noun - hoarding (plural hoardings) - 3. (chiefly UK) A billboard -- boxy talkteh rulz 00:36 27 August 2010 (BST)
Well, there still needs to be a period. --VVV RPMBG 05:00, 25 October 2010 (BST)

Necrotech Employee Intro

Necrotech Employee Welcome message has a misspelling. Needs an "n" in quarantined.

"You'd been working for NecroTech for a few months, before the disturbances began and the government quarantined the city. Several NecroTech labs were kept open under military guard during the evacuation, including the building you've been working in."

Needs a space

Found this inside the NE corner of Treweeke Mall (look for the bold writing):

You are inside Treweeke Mall. Trails of looted debris litter the floors and escalators. The building has been extremely heavily barricaded. There is a crowd of 53 survivors gathered here...

...A portable generator has been set up here. It is running, and powering a radio transmitter that's currently set to 26.36 MHz. Red Christmas lights decorate the room. One of the shops has been decorated with a fire-damaged painting, a torn painting, a fish skeleton, a European painting, five African sculptures, two skulls and a cracked sculpture.

Can't be bothered with a screenshot, but there's a space missing between "room." and "One". Pretty simple.--Nallan (Talk) 08:16, 18 July 2008 (BST)

They --> It

Error: You attack a zombie. They lose 2 hp and fall to 48. Correction: You attack a zombie. It loses 2 hp and falls to 48.

Reason: A zombie, or any person in the game for that matter, is a singular entity. They is a pronoun that refers to more than one element. Therefore, since the zombie/player is singular, so should be the pronouns and verbs.

  • Quoting from wikipedia "...modern uses appear to be driven by the needs of gender neutral English specifically where English's syntactically singular third-person personal pronouns are all either gender-specific (he and she and their inflected forms) or inappropriate for reference to people (it and its inflected forms)" So this isn't exactly a grammatical error, although it may be considered appropriate to call zombies "it"s -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 07:09, 1 June 2007 (BST)
    • No, it is NOT incorrect grammar. And, zombies are played by people and don't like being "it", thanks. --WanYao 07:04, 21 August 2008 (BST)

    • And I take it "tyre" and a bunch of other horrible typos are actually correct UK spellings? because if so, I think we need a list of the ones that vary from UK and US, so we don't waste time reporting spelling errors that are correct UK spellings.
