Whose ankle are you grabbing!?
broken dreams 19:57, 23 August 2007 (BST)
Suggestion type
Change to Ankle Grab
Suggestion scope
anyone standing up with Ankle Grab skill
Suggestion description
Well I have a pretty plain and simple suggestion, a change to ankle grab. Okay, when someone dies, or for some reason, is otherwise on the floor, the ankle grab skill allows them to stand up for a greatly reduced AP cost. Well, this skill is a nice little purchase, but it just doesn't make sense. Why? Cause I've taken advantage of ankle grab when there was nobody there! I mean, come on, you can't grab imaginary ankles. So what I suggest is that ankle grab is only an applicable skill when there is a standing survivor (or zombie) in the block with you. This does not include corpses (though I suppose a new skill could be added from that.. Rise From the Dead, or something like that). Its a simple suggestion, balances the huge ap cut from Ankle grab, and just makes sense.
Summary:
- Change Ankle Grab so that it only applies when another player is in the block with you.
- Perhaps improve upon the tree with another skill allowing zombies to rise from the dead, or something such as that.
- This would NOT nerf zombies. almost every square is occupied in the suburb I'm in, and every other square has a dead body... Then again it's under seige; however, if the second skill were implemented, it would have almost no positive or negative effect on gameplay.

- Keep- I put the voting in the correct format for you, and I like this. Nalikill 03:11, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Ahh.. I like it! Makes yet another element of the game much more realistic. *grabs imaginary ankle while waiting for this fix to be implemented* --Vkkhamul 03:13, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Doing it this way would probably rebalance the game in a nice way (last 2 updates swung the pendulum Zedward). I'd be equally ok with just changing the name/flavour text of the move though. --Pgunn 03:14, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep -I like that it givs flavor to the game, and also gives a disidvandage to roaming feral zombies picking on noobs. User:John Basil 19:26, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - last updates hardly even touch the pendulum. However this one is so witty i cannot reject it --~~~~T''' 10:25, 25 August 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill Hell no - not when I'm the only one dumped outside. Not all of the skills make logical sense in-game. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:24, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill I think It means grab your own ankle, To put it into position, to stand up.
- Kill Silly suggestion, just because the zombies are on the up again is no reason to nerf every feral zombie in the game. --Shaggy123 03:35, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - You grab the ankle of the one that killed you. That's real. -- Grogh 03:45, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - The name "ankle grab" is misleading. Assuming you have the skill to grab an ankle, and claw yourself back to a standing position, you also have the skill to grab a pole, a wall, a signpost or any other object and do exactly the same. A name change for the skill would be ok, changing what it does is not necessary. --Steakfish 04:36, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Absolutely not. --Druuuuu 05:51, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Makes sense, but nerfs zeds. --Sonofagun18 07:16, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Biiiiiiiihelpihavegotmyhandstucktothekeyboardiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig nerf. --Anotherpongo 09:27, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Zombies finally get some useful updates and everyone's all OMGWTFBBQNERFZEDS! Really. Not needed and just downright mean.--the one, the only, sushiknight (talk contribs HARD E.N.D.) 16:53, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I agree with the guy who says ankle grab name is misleading--Seventythree 18:24, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Removing AP isn't nice The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talk • contribs) at 03:48 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Agree with above, plus it nurfs Pker victims dumped outside non siege buildings. Also does not make sense. Are you always going to be standing right next to every dead body that is in the same block as you? I always assumed ankle grab meant a downed player had the ability to grab things (like ankles) to help get up, not that they were literally grabbing someones ankles every time they stood up.--Pestilent Nomad 05:02, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Not Spam - The suggestion has some merit. But, if you think about it, it could mean grab onto anything close, like a table, desk, lamp post, dumpster, ect. BoboTalkClown 01:15, 29 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill for the reasons given by the other users.-- Vista +1 11:37, 4 September 2007 (BST)
- Kill - My big return to the wiki happens to be a kill vote. How fitting. Anyway, the Ankle Grab skill doesn't actually have anything to do with grabbing someone's ankle; it's just means having the ability to regenerate quicker after sustaining extreme (mortal) injuries. The only relationship the skill has with the name is that it's inspired by the classic horror scene of a zombie grabbing a person's ankle and getting up quickly. Gamewise, this is the main advantage zombies have. --Reaper with no name TJ! 00:10, 7 September 2007 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - Senseless and horrid nerf to zombies --The Grimch Mod-U! 03:27, 25 August 2007 (BST) Edit: Regarding the pendulum swinging. Remember: Given the number of zombies to humans needs to remain stable, you have to assume that just as many humans are being killed as are being revived. Assuming, from the stats page today as it is now, that 2000 of these zombies are survivors awaiting a syringe (Tomorrows set of revivified bodies), then the actual zombie to human ratio is about 60/40 in favour of survivors, qhich is far the apocalyptic doom of the "50/50" you present, and by far better than the horrid 27/73 split in favour of humans earlier in game history (Before revivifying bodies were added to the stats page, so an actual count couldnt be done, but it would have been closer to 23/77 IMO). Also, i went to a lot of trouble teaching you how to not get killed, and how to fight the zombies. If you are too scared and stupid to survive in this world which is piss easy to survive in, then you should really be trying another game. Dont just cry to nerf the zombies because you cant win. The Guns Of Brixton used survival strategies and combat tactics like those listed in that guide, and they turned a suburb green from red with an active medium sized horde in it. If you play smart and organised, instead of stupid and sedentiary, you will drive zombies to the brink of extinction. Zombies are as good as they are because of enormous metagame and coordination that developed way back when the zombie/human ratio was so off balance it was obscene, and carries its metagame advantage to this day which, sadly, the game is balanced to account for. --The Grimch Mod-U! 06:54, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Spoon - Where do you guys get this stuff? Is there some wholesale store on bad ideas? This would nerf zombies. --Bobs Aturd 03:38, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Most suggestions alter game balance at least a bit. The most recent two hurt survivors fairly strongly - an adjustment the other way might not be a bad idea. --Pgunn 03:52, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- I'm sure its the gamebreaking updates and not superior coordination/tactics that have zombies on the rise again. It's not like the numbers ebb and flow or anything... --Bobs Aturd 03:58, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- The last 2 game changes have NOT nerfed survivors into oblivion, get real. And get over it. Zombies are winning because zombie players are just plain BETTER THAN YOU. Dig? So quit whinging and up the level of your game play. Adapt or die. Simple, really... And, I'm actually a survivor-oriented player, so don't accuse me of "zombie bias"... I see the stupidity of survivors every day, primarily as a survivor, and that is my perspective... --WanYao 18:26, 2 September 2007 (BST)

- Spam - Awesome attempt to take away the only real advantage that zombies have.--Jorm 03:41, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Spam - not everything in this game makes sense, what about the infinite amount of supplies held within the city, or the indestructable flak jackets, or the fact that after a very short period of time people can become athletes and leap between buildings, despite the fact they are carrying generators and weaponry. of course if you want realism why not take away zombies entirely? Zoutroi 03:57, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Spam - I'd say this is the dumbest suggestion ever, but it really isn't. Would nerf zombies, and smash the current game balance. Also, I believe that the name Ankle Grab is a reference to the act of [Bootstrapping], where you pull yourself up by your own ankle. Mrhton 09:35, 25 August 2007 (BST)
