Info

Mornington

One story houses and white picket fences litter this suburb. Lawns are well cared for and gardens are tended to at all times. One of your neighbors always seems to be throwing a barbecue. This was before the zombie attack, Mornington was abandoned for a long time. After all, it is very difficult to protect ranch-style houses from attacks.

Since then, Mornington has become a home again. A handful of people have moved back in to take Mornington back from the undead. Whenever possible, we are slowly reinforcing the battered and ransacked homes. Filling the window & door openings with bricks & cinder blocks. With all entry points closed off, we are building skylights that open to satisfy the need for entry and sunlight. Removable ladders have been clipped to all the roofs to be used to enter and exit all the ranchers. Many also have attics with pull down ladders, so extra supplies and non-perishable foods are being stored in them in case the main floor becomes over run with dead heads...

We have also begun building cinder block walls 10-12 ft high around each residence. With so few people, this is a long and tedious process. It takes many months to do one home. We can only spare a couple of people to do this each day because the others must check the barricades of resource buildings and other safe houses. The ones who do work on the walls can only work a few hours each day. No matter how quiet they try to be, they still attract too many undead to continue working. We've never managed to work more than 3 hours at a time. Whether it's our smell or the noise, something draws them from all sides of the map. We always have to have several escape routes planned & someone on the roof as a look out.

Maybe once more people come to settle in Mornington, we will have more success in making it a comfortable place to live. Perhaps one day, the town will be filled with laughter and happiness, but for right now, everyday is a struggle, but at least we have a home and friends. It's far worse being alone in this mess, the moaning all night long is enough to make you lose your mind.

The suburb is starting to find its legs again. Buildings are still falling due to larger-than-normal zed numbers, but are also being rebuilt much faster. Generally buildings appear to be sticking to the barricade plan, but with so much activity some variant buildings (like St. Basil's Hospital) are more likely to be inaccessible to those without Free Running. --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 03:08, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

March 13th

Much of Mornington is still in shambles. Survivors are doing their best to maintain and rebuild, but a lack of numbers and determined ferals in the area are making things slow going at best. --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 05:19, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

These groups have been removed from the Suburb Listing. Feel free to re-add them if you know they're still active. --Janus talk 14:19, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
