Revision as of 03:03, 4 November 2014

To be done

Still needing to be done is past and current events (I've asked on the Halloween hootenanny page for them to write the description of theirs). Also previous years' changes. I couldn't find anything that happened in 2005 on a surface examination.

Cheers! --xensyriaT 22:56, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

we will get right on writing up the history of our event.--'BPTmz 22:59, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Cheers! --xensyriaT 23:32, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

There's also the questions of Candy and Costume stores without the shopping and bargain hunting skills, or in an unpowererd, ransacked or ruined mall... But again, it's a minor question... --xensyriaT 07:20, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Fog

I think fog article should be merged with this --~~~~ [talk] 14:05, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

The only problem with this article, which would affect the fog merge (which I otherwise support) is that when I grouped it by year, then where would the content go? It would have to go in both and should the content in them be the same (redundancy) or different (misleading or at least messy). I guess that if this page is re-ordered by -things- first (fog, candy, etc.) and then by year (specifying which of these things applied, and then as sub sections any events that took place). Any differences in implementation of the -things- could be talked about under that thing's sub section rather than in the main article. I'll give this a shot maybe --xensyriaT 15:45, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
O'll give it a shot too when my mind would be less clouded --~~~~ [talk] 16:46, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Done - merged fog and reordered. I think that we've almost sorted this Halloween now ;) I'm just gunna check iWitness for other malls and then add redirects from Stale candy and Costume Store (I've already done it to Fog, and I can't see why it's good to keep them as they are any more ;). I'm also kicking myself for not checking the flavour text for binoculars this year - and I don't think that iWitness has any. Good teamwork tho! :) --xensyriaT 17:01, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

No stores anymore - 24 hours

There are neither a candy nor costume stores left at least in Caiger and presumably in all other malls. IMHO they were present only for 24 hours. Thus in lists where it says that "mall is known not to have ... store" - can we be sure that there really was no such store or that was just checked too late?.. --~~~~ [talk] 19:42, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, I personally checked Nichols and Lumber, and they both had one but not the other. I had a character near Pole, but didn't know about the stores until after I'd spent most of his AP, so didn't have a chance to confirm/deny before Hallowe'en was over. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 21:16, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah - I guess that it's too late. I've gone through all of the relevant iWitness records now too (unless someone added it ages after loading) and so I guess that we'll just have to say unknown. Maybe it'll be back next year... we'll see - fog was, and we can check them next year if needs be. Tompson's almost certainly lost coz it was in zed hands through the whole day. Still - we did a good job without preparation... one thing is that the fog image is still hosted - see [1] - also last year it was reported that mag.cgi?knock still worked for a while after the event was over. From iWitness I have worked out that it probably lasted 9:40 AM GMT on the 31st of Oct to 9:40 AM GMT on the 1st of Nov, and I've added that to the year's description along with the message that it gave about the fog coming down on malton. --xensyriaT 21:28, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Infinite pumpkins?

I was grabbin g a few pumpkins earlier, and noticed that I had gone well over 100% encumbrance. Further searches demontrated I could still grab more. I stopped once I had six or so pumpkins and 210% percent encumbrance. During this whole time, I never recieved an over-encumbered message. Anyone else experience something similar?--~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 00:22, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Can we give pumpkins to people?-- SA 00:33, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Some quick experimenting shows that I am unable to pick up anything else with the six pumpkins. Apparently the pumpkins just ignore encumbrance when you pick them up, while still adding to it.--~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 01:55, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
I noticed this same thing. I was able to get up to 248% encumberance. It seems that pumpkins ignore encumberance altogether. ~Vsig.png 08:32, 30 October 2010 (BST)
Same as last year. You'll still hit the inventory string limit sometime – see how high you can get! ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 09:29, 30 October 2010 (BST)

Apparently it isn't quite infinte. [2] In that dumbwit I'm holding 23 pumpkins (total encumbrance is 534%) but unable to pick up anymore as you might be able to guess by the message. However you might be able to collect more pumpkins then me as the message started to come up when I had picked up my 20th pumpkin. I was then able to pick up 2 more pumpkins before the message appeared again. While I was trying to take a wit of the message and inventory I managed to get one more pumpkin. It is probably feasible get more then me. -- Da Ninja Random/AS also 404 Groupie Overlord in another life 09:09, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

How long can you keep pumpkins?

I was wondering, how long can I keep pumpkins? Do they spoil if kept too long? Or can they be kept forever? --Claire Redfield 02:15, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Forever, babe. Forever. -- LEMON #1 08:30, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Writing Up Defile Section

Any survivors out there able to rub the mess off graffiti? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:20, 29 October 2010 (BST)

Yes. Before http://iamscott.net/1288378689657.html . After http://iamscott.net/1288378675296.html. From testing, it also appears zombies cannot defile graffiti on billboards, just the normal graffiti at those locations. Also a zombie can use the defile graffiti button even if it's already been done, which changes the letters that are blotted out. Hyperion 20:07, 29 October 2010 (BST)

You clear away enough of the muck and gore to make the graffiti legible again. ~Vsig.png 20:08, 29 October 2010 (BST)

You've probably already picked up on this, but there are levels of defiling you can add to the walls. Wondering if it takes more AP to take off the gore the more it's been defiled. -- LEMON #1 08:36, 30 October 2010 (BST)

It doubt it. The Defilation is cyclical, so a zombie sometimes adds less than he removes. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 09:39, 30 October 2010 (BST)
Ah yes just noticed that myself. -- LEMON #1 23:04, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

For completion sake, I just confirmed that cleaning defiled graffiti does not cause one to lose HP due to infection. This makes sense since it costs no AP. Just had to test it. Sooo...the flavor text The zombie's bite was infected! (You'll now take 1HP damage for every action you take, except speaking. Infection can be cured with a first aid kit.) is not entirely accurate, I suppose. ~Vsig.png 19:21, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Considering dropping doesn't do it either, that hardly matters.--User:Yonnua Koponen/signature3 19:29, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Good point. Forgot about dropping. ~Vsig.png 19:32, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Defiled graffiti now costs 1AP for a survivor to clean

Could somebody else confirm this, please? I noticed it first last night, drunk, but forgot and just tried it out again now. --TWO HEADED SEX BEAST 21:41, 12 August 2011 (BST)

Confirmed. before and after. ~Vsig.png 21:51, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Also, sorry for the vulgar example. If I had known before cleaning it up that's what it said, I would have picked a different building. ~Vsig.png 21:52, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Boo

So it's half way through October 31st, 2011 and no holiday update. I think Halloween may have been overlooked by Kevan this year. :( ~Vsig.png 13:45, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Nevermind, I was wrong. Zombies can thump on doors. [3]. I wonder what else was updated. Need a list of masks. Pumpkins, perhaps? ~Vsig.png 13:50, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
No pumpkins that I can tell. I've used over 50 AP between two alts searching in parks. Bale Mall has a costume store in the NW and SE corners but I could not find any masks in settings while in either corner. NE corner of Bale has candy ~Vsig.png 14:12, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Ok now I'm getting a mask option. "a Guy Fawkes mask" is available at Bale Mall, NE corner. Remember, remember the Fifth of November. ~Vsig.png 15:22, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
I can confirm there are pumpkins out there. Waste of fucking time of course, like every 'novelty holiday bonus'. Supply crates is where it's at. Christmas '08 was the last time. Davis needs to seriously get his act together. Pumpkins and masks... fuck sake. ~ Kempy “YaketyYak” | ◆◆◆ | CAPD | 17:01, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Can confirm guy fawkes is the only mask. --Like Moss and The Dude..... 17:24, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Pumpkins being finally back will put some finally into danger. -- Spiderzed 22:38, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
OK, I've confirmed Lumber Mall has Guy Fawkes mask. My friend, Zensaga, upon hearing the news, un-idled his characters just to get his hands on them. He can confirm STickling Mall does not have it, but Thompson Mall does. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:42, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Scratch the Stickling statement. I've gone in to double check and I've found 'em, so Zen must be blind or something. xD --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:53, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Found one in Nichols. Apparently, you have to be in a corner of the mall with a Costume Store. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:59, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Yeah its like that every year. There is a list on the main article that shows which corners have the costume store. I did have a problem earlier where I was standing in a corner with a costume store but did not see a mask option in settings. I had assumed I was just early to the party or something and the game update wasn't fully implemented yet. I dunno. Maybe its buggy. ~Vsig.png 03:09, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Mask Anonymity

Let's not forget...Fog was used in the past to cover changes being done to the map. So...One has to wonder about the fog today. Hm... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 15:33, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

To be sure, we should do a full sweep of Malton when this fog lifts. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 15:59, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Fog 2012

It is gone. Time to scan the streets of Malton for any changes done to the map. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:38, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

what that about? have there been map changes in the past following fog?     : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 21:07, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Billboards for example. --Ross Less Ness Enter Stranger... 21:08, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Forts as well. The fog was used in the past to hide changes being done to the Fort. Mainly converting it from an Island Armory to an actual Fort. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:20, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
