Tapton is a suburb of Malton, located in the south of the city. It is known for having the 3rd largest populace of Malton's suburbs, and for the annual Tapton Parade. There are rumours that the zombies still celebrate this tradition, shambling in step up and down the suburb's central belt of roads while waving marrow-dripping femurs.

Pre-outbreak Tapton was mostly populated by people of German origin, so the ambience of this suburb is often rather Teutonic. To the thrill of living in a dark city overrun by zombies, add the claustrophobic atmosphere of the Third Reich, the sinister communist style of postwar East Germany, and the anarchic, graffiti-loving hippies of liberated Berlin. Hear people barking rather than speaking, watch marching columns in the streets and see men in black leather coats raiding houses and dragging people away. And be prepared to be accused for something without even knowing the type of crime. You will never know, what you should fear more: the zeds or the survivors. Paranoia is essential for surviving in Tapton.

Counter to these rather negative stereotypes, Tapton offers efficient public services, zombies permitting, and when the trains return to Malton, Tapton's will be sure to run on time. Tapton is also the place in Malton to get great sausages (just don't ask what's in them!), and the traditional Lederhosen worn by old-school Taptonmenschen are reputed to offer some protection from zombie bites aimed at the nether regions. The local bar is hospitable and a great place to celebrate Mocktoberfest, an event which can take place in any month of the year. Prost!

Curious survivors may wish to visit the historic Merewether Monument.

When not overrun by zombies, St. Emelia's Church hosts a karaoke night every Saturday. So far, none of the neighbours have complained.

Suburb Overview

Western Tapton: The West is usually rather sparsely populated with survivors, probably because it lacks a police station and is a fair distance from any mall. The Chaffin Building (Tapton's only NecroTech facility) is a popular target of the walking dead, as are St. Matheos's Hospital and Sherston Grove Fire Station. 87H is the chief zombie presence in this area. By travelling Southeast from Western Tapton you will come across Pole Mall. It is recommended for new players starting on the Eastern side of Tapton to loot it. Note: Check the wiki pages of the areas and local radios to make sure it's clear first as West Tapton has been known to be dangerous.

Central Tapton: Due to a relative absence of resource buildings and an abundance of open land, the numbers of undead in the central region of the suburb are usually moderate, though Swithun General Hospital is often subjected to zombie assaults. The good people of Phil's Freaks have been known to entertain deanimated guests at the Bainton Arms, so passersby needn't panic if they happen upon a lone zombie sipping an ale.

Eastern Tapton: The location of Haag Plaza Police Department (the suburb's only PD), as well as its proximity to Pole Mall, makes Eastern Tapton an attractive neighborhood for survivor groups. Alpha Elite Squad, the Renegades, and Ständige Vertretung all maintain a presence in the region. Of course, the large supply of brains in the area often attracts zombie hordes as well. Another hotspot for zombie hordes is the Whittaker Boulevard Fire Station of which still holds a few key items in Taptons's rundown town.

Revive Points: Rhodes Park [41, 73] has reopened for business and is now an active revive point in Western Tapton. Dix Place [46, 75] is still Tapton's main revive point though and service there will usually be quicker and more consistent. Douglass Park [48,73] and Kentisber Plaza [48,72] are the most recently opened and active revive points located in Eastern Malton. A zombie's best chance for revivification is to post a request at http://tinyurl.com/zwor5 . Check the "News" section below for updates.
