Dear God, make it stop!
If you're going to be the wiki Copyright Nazi, please make it look halfway legible? Is that too much to ask? Maybe put all the images under one request banner?--_Vic D'Amato__Dead vs Blue_ 04:24, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

- Sure. I didn't know about the unused image policy. I'm also not going after any present images until I see how the proposed policy goes and to allow for the current images up on M/D to go through. - Thank god Rogue isn't a fireman. Otherwise it'd be: "Well, we don't really need smoke detectors or fire drills. If we have a fire, we can just, you know, put it out."
- If you were a policeman, it'd be: "Locks smocks. If you need to protect your valuables, we'll just drive over when a thief breaks in for them. No need to secure anything."
- Or if you made Urban Dead: "You know what this game, totally needs? Just a big port of Resident Evil graphics, names, and characters. I mean, if Capcom really wanted to protect it's copyright, it would go around constantly policing the internet. No need to be worried of any prosecution. I can totally bag all the cash I can, and when they send only a "cease-and-desist notice" they won't think to try and take my happy ass to civil court over the "estimated losses" of revenue that my site pulled in."

Sir, that is completely and utterly retarded.
Do you HONESTLY think arby's, or any other corperation would waste time and money in litigation with a gaming website, that is maybe worth 50 grand tops? I doubt it. Seems to me you like to stir up trouble for no good reason. As for your arguments about the arby's corperation getting hurt, will they really? will the use of their logo (which could be argued to be public domain, albeit weakly) tank the arby's corperation, ruin its shareholders, and cause mass unemployment? If arby's really cared to take the time to ask kevan/the mod staff to take down the logo, it would happen, but your motive appears to be stirring up trouble. There is a name for the type of lawyer you seem to be, and its called an AMBULANCE CHASER. You give lawyers everywhere a bad name, good day. --General Lee A. Dickhole Malton Rangers 06:24, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, for some reason I do believe that Arby's will agressively fight for their trademark. Perhaps because, they say they will? "The Trademarks displayed on the Site are registered and unregistered Trademarks of Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc. Nothing contained on the Site should be construed as granting, by implication, estoppel or otherwise, any license or right to use any Trademark displayed on the Site, or any license or right to use any other trademark owned by any other third party. In the event that you misuse any Trademark in violation of these Terms and Conditions, Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc., will aggressively enforce its intellectual property rights to the fullest extent of the law, including the seeking of criminal prosecution." --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™17:38, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

International Copyright???
If this website is based in USA and if you only want to protect Kevan from lawsuits then heres what I have to say to you: The only one that is going to get into problem is the one who submitted it, NOT Kevan. Why? Because we all had to sign a little thing before we registered telling us not to submit copyrighted material.
If not, I got news for you
I'm sorry I gotta break this to you, but not everyone lives in America. How appalling it might sound, but it is in fact, fact. Currently there exists about 245 countries around the globe, 192 of them being member states in the UN and widely recognized as countries. Most of these countries have rigorous and extensive laws about copyrighting, USA being at the top in writing these laws. In most of those countries, posting copyrighted material can lead charge and sometimes a lawsuit.
The exception to this is in America where the object is not so much about protecting the material, but more like for making money, making posting material like that a highly risky affair since it no longer matters if what your doing is right or wrong.
In other countries, there simply is no such laws. Still, these countries hardly have any government.
Some countries may have these laws but since in these countries police business is police business (as opposed to USA) and they believe there is more important issues than chasing around people posting pictures. Other countries, where both a lawsuit and a criminal charge can get you its still not a problem, cuz seriously, who cares? A third alternative is all those countries who have copyright laws but loves to violate material protected by American copyright laws just to piss them off.
Thank you for you time =) --Sachaztan 21:10, 27 July 2007 (BST)
- Urban Dead is hosted in the UK. Different laws, my friend. Different laws. Despite that, the wiki has a rule of no copyrighted work is to be submitted without permission, which means despite the legality, it's against wiki rules. --Akule School's in session. 18:19, 28 July 2007 (BST)
- So what do you care? The only one getting into trouble is the ones posting. --Sachaztan 14:09, 29 July 2007 (BST)
- Because I care for the wiki and I'd like Kevan not to go to jail. Why do you want him to go to jail? --Akule School's in session. 14:13, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- But Kevan cant go to jail, and thats because of several reasons. A:Noone gives a fuck about defending their material so fiercely that they will try to send anyone using it, even in a small wiki like this, even if it doesn't matter at all, to jail. B:If someone did, the only one that could be sent to jail for it is the one posting it. C:The only way Kevan can be responsible for it is if someone sends him a mail telling him to remove this and that or else they will bring him to justice, in which case he would simply remove it, possibly ban the user, and then end of story. And what makes you the Mesiah of copyrighting? Do you have a doctorate in British law?--Sachaztan 09:14, 31 July 2007 (BST)

That link you made to copyright law...its a link to a Texas university. You said that the wiki was hosted in UK? Why are you then linking to some sort of unofficial American essay-like text?--Sachaztan 09:14, 31 July 2007 (BST)

- Right. So, if your name is copyrighted, then you should be deleted, right? --User:Axe27/Sig 17:08, 29 July 2007 (BST)
- Some people do. Besides, it's a wiki policy. If your brain can't grasp that simple concept, then let's go with this: Why do people get put up for vandalism of a group page? Because it's against policy to update a group's page without their consent. --Akule School's in session. 14:12, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Some people eh? The few who have no clue who you are or who joined only a short while ago. Don't kid yourself. Beside, since I add categories to Group pages, I should therefore be permabanned. What? It is Wiki policy. --User:Axe27/Sig 19:48, 30 July 2007 (BST)

The copyrighting link
First of all you should get a better reference to copyright laws since your link leads to a Texan university (its not in the UK, its not official, its an essay and is therefore useless)
And also read this and consider the term "fair use" in international copyrighting. --Sachaztan 18:17, 18 August 2007 (BST)
- It's an educational tool and prompts you to go reading more on the topic. I would post other links, but people have proven that they don't really give a crap about learning anything about copyright law. Now, as for your second link, you will find that fair dealing (the equivalent of fair use in the UK) is very different than fair use. For one, it is far more restrictive than fair use. So go ahead, read that, then come back and we can discuss this further. --Akule School's in session. 16:41, 22 August 2007 (BST)
