Group Backstory
Once the city erupted in chaos, the frightened people of Malton had no one to turn to for help. Arson, looting, and mass hysteria made even the most level headed citizen dangerous. An outbreak of a deadly virus was turning the city's people into mindless, flesh eating zombies. As droves of people ran to escape the city, a few brave souls ran back in. They went to save lives and do what they could. These men and women have several titles...firemen, police officers, military personnel, and doctors. But it is their other title, the one of "volunteer" that makes them who they are. They know there is a chance they might lose their lives in the line of duty, but it is a chance they have to take. Heroes don't grow on trees, but sometimes you can find them right down the street. If you are a citizen of Malton, and you need help, please locate a member and they will assist you.
You are not alone. Help is on the way.
Group Goals
The MCDU operates as an independent unit in protecting the citizens of Malton. To use an analogy, the MCDU is the saber operating alongside the massive warhammer of the main DEM ranks. We specialize in tactical reclamation, usage of psychological warfare, and strategic insertions. As such, although the numbers are few, the overall power of the group is not to be underestimated.
The MCDU accepts all members regardless of class, with all cadets receiving top training in The Academy before being assigned into a unit. Further specialist training is provided within the unit. For example, a cadet in the MACH unit will receive specialized scouting training, a cadet in the Red Storm assault unit will carry a different set from the MACH scout, that is, aside from the basic kit.
Currently, the MCDU consists of three units:

Operation Event Horizon - Operation in progress, details cannot be disclosed at his moment
Operation Homecoming - Danversbank - Patrol and support mission to reclaim the suburb from zombie hands.
Operation Dunhills - Dunell Hills - Support mission to reclaim NT buildings in the west
Operation To Hell and Back - West Boundwood and Quarlesbank - Where Calvert Mall, thanks to MCDU forces, is changing hands every few days thanks to surgical strikes.
Operation November Tango - East Boundwood - With Shuttlebank firmly in MCDU control, the focus was turned onto the main objectives in East Boundwood, using Bale Mall in Yagoton as a supply depot. The MCDU went on to reclaim East Boundwood.
Operation Stick It To The Man - Shuttlebank and Eastonwood - With the MCDU operating once again, this time as an autonomous unit, the first objective of this campaign ran from Shuttlebank to Eastonwood, this was followed by a series of sorties into Yagoton where the reinforced Bale mall for phase II of operations.
Operation Northern Lights - Darvall Heights - on the frontline, MCDU soldiers bravely helped to reclaim Caiger Mall in the Fourth Siege of Caiger Mall. A true victory of survivors over zombies that will hopefully last a long time.
Operation Goldrush - Havercroft - MCDU troopers retook Ackland Mall and cleared the suburb, making it safe for survivors once more.
Operation Bitch Boots - South Blythville - a brief visit to resupply and help local human resistance
Operation Clover Leaf - East Becktown - with the 3rd Siege of Caiger imminent, the MCDU prepared an evacuation site for fleeing survivors. The influx of unhappy dead gave our trained revivers plenty of work
Operation Rolling Thunder - Houldenbank - following a call for assistance from FANNY, the MCDU rescued several vital Necrotech buildings and other resources, fighting the zombie hordes that had entered the region
Operation Home Improvement - Dulston - the MCDU helped the north-east corner of the quarantine zone recover after the Big Bash's visit to the suburb.
Operation Shopping Spree - Tollyton - In its first mission following the return of Fire Marshall Bill, the MCDU reclaimed Woodroffe Mall and helped clean up the suburb
Standard Operating Procedure
Barricading - MCDU follows the Uniform Barricading Policy of the DEM where feasible.
- Barricading of vital buildings shall be restricted to very strongly
- Vital buildings are as follows
- Hospitals
- Police Departments
- Fire Stations
- Schools
- Necrotech Buildings
- When under attack, all barricade restrictions are lifted
- Vital buildings are as follows
- Non-essential buildings can be barricaded up to extremely heavily
- Within any five square quadrant there should be four accessible safe houses
- Barricades can be downgraded by means of a crowbar.
- The same exceptions for buildings under siege may apply.
- Within any five square quadrant there should be four accessible safe houses
- Safe house relocation
- When a safe house appears that it shall fall, alert all inhabitants of this fact and state the location of the fallback safe house in verbal form only.
- Alternate safe houses should be established ahead of time as a contingency.
- Safe houses should be barricaded to extremely heavily.
- A safe house can be marked as such by means of graffiti on the inside only.
- When a safe house appears that it shall fall, alert all inhabitants of this fact and state the location of the fallback safe house in verbal form only.
First Aid
- Personal safety comes before safety to others, be sure you have a first aid kit for yourself at all times.
- Infected citizens receive attention before injured citizens.
- Any citizen that requests first aid should receive it as soon as is feasible.
- A supply of first aid kits should be maintained for this purpose at all times.
- At level 4 or higher Diagnosis should be acquired as a skill in order to provide assistance without being asked.
Revivification
- Revival is vital to maintain our numbers over the zombies or this will be a war of attrition.
- MCDU members should be revived in preference over other survivors, then allied factions, then other survivors.
- If you are infected, make your way to the nearest hospital for assistance.
- If you die, get to the nearest revive point or cemetery for revival. Alert the MCDU Combat Controllers that you are in need of assistance and they will endeavor to help you out. Lastly, post a request on the DEM Revivification Requests page and do not move from your posted location until you are revived.
With regards to alt characters
- In addition to the rules and regulations that all others in the DEM abide by, MCDU members agree to a higher standard with regards to alternate characters. You may play any style of alt you wish...zombie, human, PK'er...whatever. However, the MCDU maintains that no alternate character of yours may kill an active MCDU member. This is considered a conflict of interest and in poor taste. Also, in following Urban Dead rules and DEM policy, your alts may not reside in the same suburb as your active MCDU character. It's fine to play them, just make them lead a completely separate life from the MCDU and its whereabouts. Failure to comply to this, or causing an MCDU member's death with one of your alts, is grounds for termination from the MCDU (subject to review by MCDU command). Please make sure you are able to comply with this policy before joining the MCDU.
