Heres the deal, that thing was getting pretty big and messy so I just burned it down. If you had allegations of megalomania or assertions that I'm Hitler that you particularly liked you can always go into the history and find it. -- Love, luck, and lollipops, Zaruthustra.

This really isn't a big deal you guys. We've been through this. All acronyms redirect to you, everybody recognizes it as you. you seem to be very proficient in the wiki. i was wondering if you might be able to inform me of how to insert a "table of contents" on my group's page? i have tried to figure it out on my own - but have not had any luck, and i noticed you have a group page that has a table of contents & might be able to direct me on how to go about adding one. --Firemanstan 20:18, 5 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Just read LibrarianBrent's talk page. I RARELY vote Keep on ANYTHING you liar. Leave me out of your fantasies. -- Amazing 05:48, 11 Jan 2006 (GMT)

I agree that there are Suggestors who need to be chastised.. but I also think some Spam-voters need to be chastised as well. We should all be working together to make the site better, but all that happens is more and more polarization. It's a sad day when voting "Keep" on a suggestion is any kind of big deal. It's a Suggestion page for a Computer Game. The current mood seems to be that anything that gets through may be added because Kevan's an idiot who can't tell what sucks and what doesn't - so it's highly important that all bad suggestions be eliminated immediately to the highest degree. I think that, on both sides, a lot of ego is tied in. Suggestors don't like their suggestions treated like they're anal tumors - and Spam voters are offended that a bad suggestion has sullied their eye. As I say there needs to be less polarization. Bad Suggestors and Spam Voters aren't different beings, they're just standing on opposite sides of the river. -- Amazing 18:41, 11 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Spam means the author is deliberately farting up nonsense for the purpose of annoyance. The author of that suggestion was clearly not writing up the suggestion with this intent and it was in all seriousness. If the suggestion is hated so much why not vote Kill? --Daednabru 21:53, 11 Jan 2006 (GMT)

I just don't support the whole extremely cruel and unfair tactic of Spaminating suggesions no matter how bad when they were evidently written in earnest. It's not right because it isn't fair to the author and it's also not right because it removes a source of potential learning - both for the author and other potential authors. Even a bad suggestion can offer something in the way of teaching us what not to post or suggest. Anyways, thank you for referring me to the talk page, I'll be sure to check it out! --Daednabru 22:18, 11 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Suggestions

Since you seem to be one of the few people who are taking an active role with the suggestions, I've got a couple of questions.

  • Who removes a suggestion if there are 3 Spam votes?
  • Shouldn't the template for the suggestion require the person suggesting to include his/her/its signature?--Nov 05:22, 28 Nov 2005 (GMT)
  • Howdy Z. Would like to recommend that Spam Votes could as 0 when calculating Total Votes. Would appreciate your opinion on this matter.  % of Keeps is figured out as Keeps / Total Votes. See Suggestion Talk Page. Gracias. --Squashua 20:04, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)

I compleatly disagree. your "minimum of accountability" statement is wrong. i clearly label my removals in the history page, for quick and easy trackablity. but someone seeing someones name removing spam and resubmits over and over is either going to A) think this person has the power to judge what is and isen't good. B) hold a grudge. --Spellbinder 00:13, 2 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Make Monstrous Zombies be targetted first before all other zombies. My Indian friend's house smells like curry 15:35, 4 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I knew there was a reason why I didn't include skills for my idea.. :\ I would really hate to see your zombie classes killed over something as trifling as an example skill when the concept is clearly prevalent. If you want we could bounce ideas off each other in order to make them work or come up with new skills to effectively combat each other. So, kicking off: the way I see it, certain adv. survivors would be able to determine the type of zombies attacking and be able to do do something about it via new skills, yay or nay? I'll leave it up to you as to how you interpret that. Toodles. --Kehraus 21:00, 4 Dec 2005 (GMT)

At their cores, many great games are just giant, complex, rock paper scissors sims. The tried and true strong versus this weak versus that would definately spice the strategy up. I'm starting to regret making skill at all. For my part I think the carrion feeder was a great design, and the other two were kind of crap. Lets work on this, see if we can't make a whole new system and polish it till its gold. I say we try again on classes. Start with your idea as a template for harmans, on mine scrap everything but carrion feeder. --Zaruthustra 22:14, 4 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Your big zombies should be fired upon more often than other zombies, due to their size.

This would kinda make the class unplayable no? Who wants to be a bullet magnet? --Zaruthustra 01:41, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I've been re-reading the Mutations suggestion, and it's starting to grow on me. I would suggest making the Virulent zombies do even less damage, but get an XP or three for each survivor they infect, to give them some method of gaining XP. Like you said, the Carrion Feeders shouldn't be able to wear Flak Jackets; the reasoning could be that they are too skinny and weak to support the weight. You could add some variation of Aberration to the Monstrous zombie type, maybe in place of the "Strength of Undead" damage bonus. One of the things I liked about Aberration was that the bonus attack gave a bonus message to the target, so there was some flavor added for survivors, as well. I helped Giltwist re-write it, that's why I'm plugging it.

Probably the best aspect of your suggestion is that it doesn't hurt anyone who's been playing for a long time, the way adding classes for starting would. The real struggle is getting anyone to go along with jumping ship into a Resident Evil environment. --Dickie Fux 02:38, 5 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Am I going blind or has the Mutation discussion vanished? Is this the norm or was it specifically removed? Ah well. I apologise for not responding sooner (didn't realise we were continuing the talk over here ^__^). Weelll a few thoughts on the topic, when coming up with classes I just broke down what I thought effectively made up a class, and to heighten the disparity between advanced classes make them cover a specific role, even using polar opposites to reinforce this (ie, the two military examples allow the player the choice, amongst others possibly, to play either a defensive or offensive role).

It all comes down to balance, as I'm sure you know. I know I'll have a tough time packing as many of the best elements of each class as possible into their own individual advanced classes so as to offer a balanced choice to players, who won't feel cheated out because of choosing the wrong advanced class or worse, the wrong starting class in general. Whilst you neatly skirted this by allowing all the advanced zed mutation available to players, all your adv. classes have to be balanced which is in itself a problem for you, due to the obvious difference in the abilities of these new abhorrations (<- I swear to God I thought that was a real word. Bah! I refuse to conform!). You cleverly sought balance by flawing each mutation. The numbers are naturally meaningless at the minute and can always be changed, but the idea is a good one which makes sense, too, in a flavour-sense (mutants being unstable/volatile and whatnot) To be honest with you mate, keep going with it. I think both systems are fine, being balanced in the own ways (survivors by the no of players, zombies by the limits set on the mutation) The virulent zombie and monstrous zombie are fine. If you want to overhaul anything, then rethink a few of their flaws/skills. The inherent abilities are fine. Mutations are supposed to be random, not one generic "mutant"! Tying in the aberration suggestion would also rock. (Zombie A gets an enlarged skeletal system with increased body mass, zombie B develops an anomaly in his skeletal system which grows a functional limb.)

I don't see the harm at making skills which tactfully flouted the rulebook to suggestion just a wee itty bit. Maybe if some of the more uber skills specifically targetted the effects of another, the obvious catch being the limited amount of characters with such counter-skills (if looking at the survior side, a zombologist who can create a make-shift preventative against a particularly virulent infection- all you need now is a zombologist... Er, anyone? ;) ) Teamwork is another path that could be explored, where certain classes, both human and zombie-mutant, can work together using their own skills to achieve an end result which would rock everyones socks.

About zombies co-ordinating "battle plans" well why not? Increased brain activity y'know? There will always be the shambling horde to attack en masse, but there will be the (un)fortunate creations who have the ability to recognise their newfound skills. Ignore those people who speak like-wise. It's not our fault that zombies just so happen to be one of the more boring monsters (next to mummies, seriously what's with mummies? All the scariness of a zombie but minus the rampaging horde.) so let's do what we can to "inject" some fun into them. --Kehraus 22:49, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Maintenance Suggestion

Hi, I was wondering if you read the "maintenance" suggestion I put up. It's basically designed to slightly increase the rate of finding fuel and to give away the identities of survivors who destroy generators. I think it's a needed change because at the NT building I live it's impossible to keep a generator for more than a hour before a death cultist breaks it. It seemed to be doing well but then a bunch of new names voted against it, I assume hardcore zombie players recruited by Grim S or someone else just to kill this suggestion. So I decided to do a bit of recruiting of my own, and as Lord of the WCDZ I thought the skill might appeal to you. If you want to save it from being killed I could sure use your keep vote, though if you dislike it of course vote your opinion.--Jon Pyre 03:34, 25 Jan 2006 (GMT)
