20071001 Triage

Suggestion description
Sometimes I spend my daily AP healing others. Scanning a crowded building to see if anyone is wounded can take a long time, which is a problem as I like to spend my daily AP and then get back to rl.

I suggest a new Diagnosis subskill called Triage. The skill would color the HP value of anyone injured red, so it would immediately stand out in a quick visual scan, and color their name red in your first-aid drop down menus so it stands out there are well. Since only two numbers are colored this shouldn't confuse people that use the colored contact list to sort their allies. Alternatively, rather than just making it red perhaps people could select what color they want to tint HP values/names in their options page.

This should be a very useful time saver.

tri·age (trē-äzh', trē'äzh') n. A process for sorting injured people into groups based on their need for or likely benefit from immediate medical treatment. Triage is used in hospital emergency rooms, on battlefields, and at disaster sites when limited medical resources must be allocated.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep It's not like Kevan gets more advertising dollars if you look at the same single screen for a longer time. Saving time = good. --Jon Pyre 21:50, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Here's your keeper. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:11, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - I think a firefox mod does this already, but not everyone uses firefox.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:18, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - This would save me a lot of time clicking on profiles to see who has body building, while not actually changing what I do, and it would reduce server load (fewer page-loads). A welcome interface improvement. --Pgunn 22:36, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep -Duuuude. Cool. I like it. Brings us IE defenders another step closer to equality. :D  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  22:46, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - This would be infinitely handy when I'm not playing at home and I don't have the firefox update thingy available. --Medico 23:44, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - Yay. --Hhal 00:35, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  8. keep However, I Got your Greasemonkey right here! No, seriously- This GM colors HP depending on the value (unless it's at 50 or 60). However, I would like to know if that 50 is maxed or not... Oh, and this is a bit off-topic, but What are you doing using IE??? It's the worst browser. Ever. As Uncyclopedia put it, "You may be looking for shit and not even know it." ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 03:12, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep - Sure, after all, not everyone has firefox. --Sonofagun18 05:52, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  10. Probably a dupe but keep anyway- It's a great ideaStudoku 09:00, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  11. keep Simple enough. The Mad Axeman 11:41, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  12. Keep - I use firefox, I just don't want a toolbar for something I only spend half an hour a day doing. Makes sense. --Howard Bentley 21:24, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  13. Yes - Pump it up a bit, though. BoboTalkClown 22:08, 2 October 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Change -Underpowered. Just make diagnosis (and, while you're at it, scent blood) do this already. What? That would make it a dupe? Spupe, then. --AlexanderRM 23:35, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Change - As above. I want a triage skill to actualy make a difference.--SeventythreeTalk 11:30, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill – I simply don't think this function is necessary. There are plenty of extensions that can do this already: UDTool and udWidget colour HP, and UDToolbar not only colours it but gives you a very handy popup menu. If you're using the abomination that is IE, use the linked-above Greasemonkey script with Greasemonkey for IE. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 17:13, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill/Change - There is no need for a new skill to do this... It's a logical extension what Diagnosis already does, adding little tweak that makes it parallel Scent Fear. Which I agree it ought to, in fact I've often thought "Why the hell doesn't Diagnosis work like this??" But it merely needs an interface change, not a new skill. Also, to those who mentioned UD Tool, etc... You shouldn't be forced to add external programs to do something like this... which IMO ought to be part of the interface already... That attitude is akin to forcing people to metagame... --WanYao 13:29, 3 October 2007 (BST)

Dupe. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:04, 1 October 2007 (BST)
Re Same name, different skill. That one creates a new Triage drop down menu with HP names listed. This takes the much simpler step of simply coloring some text. Perhaps this version will be easier for Kevan to implement. For the record, I wrote the old one too so you could consider this a much delayed revision of the old Triage. --Jon Pyre 22:06, 1 October 2007 (BST)
Well...in that case, vote changed. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:11, 1 October 2007 (BST)
  1. Dupes? - This is close enough for me, but if that doesn't do it for you maybe these will--Karekmaps?! 23:33, 1 October 2007 (BST)
'Re None of those color HP values so they stand out. No.1 creates a heal drop down menu, No.2 autotargets your FAK to the most injured survivor, No.3 lets survivors without Diagnosis see when people are very wounded, and No.4 shows whether or not people have bodybuilding. Besides the name there is no overlap here really. --Jon Pyre 15:40, 2 October 2007 (BST)
The fourth one contains your suggestion in it. And even then the purpose for all of those suggestions are the same as yours.--Karekmaps?! 05:35, 3 October 2007 (BST)

  5. Dupe - Forward the Dupe Brigade! --Pavluk A! E! 13:01, 2 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Dupe - as per Axe Hack and Karek --Ryiis 17:44, 2 October 2007 (BST)
Addendum - Dupe/Spam/Kill - While the dupe links maybe, I suppose, somewhat questionable, this is a skill that is simply not needed or warrented in my opinion. It wouldn't kill you (pun intended) to take a minute in real life to sort through the people properly. An addition to the game like this is not needed and only serves to further clutter the screen with a veritable Christmas tree display --Ryiis 18:14, 2 October 2007 (BST)
