Dulston

Oh, Hai.. You (were?) are nearby the Trood Building? (unsigned post by: Dr Cory Bjornson)

Yes, sir, I am there... :) --WanYao 03:09, 19 August 2008 (BST)

Regarding the Dulston wiki page

Why ya' changing it around and stuff? I think it was a lot better the way it was... is there some new policy I'm unaware of or something? --Kikashie Read the Dispatch! 02:48, 19 August 2008 (BST)

No new policies... Just implementing some very old, very well-established ones, i.e. to keep the community wiki pages neutral. I'm sorry, but the Dulston Suburb page was basically one big Dulston Alliance propaganda page. This is being fixed. As it happens, no one has apparently gone in edited the Dulston Suburb wiki before now... This happens a lot, and suburb pages will get fixed when someone who notices and has the motivation to do so goes and does it. Now, you will notice that I am not deleting ANY information -- only moving it to a more appropriate location. In doing so, I am following a very standardised set of conventions that are widely used on Suburb pages. These conventions are flexible, but one thing about them is pretty consistent: non-NPOV stuff does not belong in NPOV sections which are meant for the entire community. This is what I am attempting to fix. Thanks for you time. --WanYao 02:57, 19 August 2008 (BST)
So you'll be doing the same thing to the rest of the suburbs, then? And seriously now there's no policy against that. It's just pointing out the location of a pro-survivor resource, perhaps even discouraging NPOV news in the NPOV section. --Kikashie Read the Dispatch! 03:08, 19 August 2008 (BST)
Also, whats with the new NPOV schtuff? I don't see that on any other suburb pages, and it takes up a shitload of space. Really need it..? --Kikashie Read the Dispatch! 03:11, 19 August 2008 (BST)
I do it on an ad hoc basis... When I happen to see a suburb that needs work, and I have the time and energy, I work on it. I happen to be operating in Dulston at the moment, and poked around the wiki page.... And saw it needed fixing up. So... I went to work. And, nope, I do not plan on doing EVERY fucking Suburb page... That's not one man's job... As I said, I do them on an ad hoc, as-I-come-across-them basis... And I have done other suburbs, though as I explained, I'm not responsible for doing them all... The wiki is a community after all... However, if you'd like to help out going through a few suburb pages yourself, and fixing them up to conform to NPOV and formatting conventions -- that'd be fantastic, we'd really appreciate your assistance! --WanYao 03:17, 19 August 2008 (BST)
So if it's not a policy, and you're not going to do it on other pages... you won't mind if I move things back to where they were? I'm not seeing why you had to move everything around... If you could point out what you find to be POV, I'd be more than happy to straighten that out with you, but all you've done is moved stuff... how'd you fix all the "propaganda"? --Kikashie Read the Dispatch! 03:28, 19 August 2008 (BST)
Please stop edit conflicting me on my own Talk page, thanks, grrrh... :P In answer to that last question, if you're referring to the News blurb... It originally appeared on the Pitneybank page and has been added in several other suburbs as well. Yagoton and Williamsville, I believe, being a couple that come to mind immediately. re: re: News and building status reports

I apologize if my post was too biased, I was just trying to add some dramatic flair to an otherwise average report. I did however did try to represent the facts that the RRF attempted using X:00 tatics break into the Ackland mall and were thrown out by Axes High/Crimson Clan/zom/AMS after many casualties albeit with a lot of dramatization. I admit I have been reading Ron Burgundy's userpage a bit too much. --Karec 21:01, 13 August 2008 (BST)

UDWiki:Image Categorisation

Come on Wan! Me having to tell you where something is on the wiki? You're slipping old man. What what? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 21:43, 12 August 2008 (BST)

stressful fucking day. i don't wanna think! ;P
I normally dont even cat the images if they arent being used, and then ask a sysop to delete them after two weeks. Its a scheduled deletion or something--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:21, 12 August 2008 (BST)
Category:Unused Images is actually decently helpful. Even if we also have a Special page that does the same thing. It keeps the image out of the way of the other people categorizing images.--Karekmaps?! 22:41, 12 August 2008 (BST)

Suggestions Page

I'm trying to get more involved and learn how to do things. I figured I'd ask you about this, doesn't firedancers Throwing Items count as being spammed? He provided 3 links himself, and they were voted as duped by about 6 people. Can it be cycled? And how precisely do I do that? - Tylerisfat 05:01, 8 August 2008 (BST)

Alright, thanks. I'm just sort of trying to find an area I can be of help with. It took me about 5 seconds to do the mall status updates on the job queue, and it was the only thing I could figure out. :) - Tylerisfat 05:22, 8 August 2008 (BST)
And I found a few places. Since you'll probably be the one to notice any suckiness, could you check out the format revision that I've done for the suggestion page? SuggestionsTemplate - tylerisfat 19:40, 8 August 2008 (BST)

Apology

some of the users who got flamed recently on Talk:Suggestions stood back from it all and realised where the people who were attacking were coming from, because for the most part there was a context for the flames...

I just wanted to say, that now that I've spent some more time on the wiki and the suggestions page, and seen some of the suggestions that come through there, I'm one of the ones who understands where you are coming from. My suggestion was pretty bad, and I deserved to get flamed. So I'm apologizing for the bad suggestion, and for deleting that section on your talk page about it.

And I also want to say, I'm still not a member of SA :) --JaredTalk Aces C-Kids 03:46, 7 August 2008 (BST)

You're apologizing for him trolling you? What is wrong with this kid...WanYao is a professional troll. Don't let him wear ye down. Ioncannon11 03:49, 7 August 2008 (BST)
And yet it is you who is banned from most IRC channels because you run in and start spamming "FUCK" and calling people names without provocation. What do you say to that, hmm? --The Grimch U! E! 04:18, 7 August 2008 (BST)
LOOOL... you're a funny guy, ioncannon. Actually... No. You're not. That's the REALLY sad thing about it. --WanYao 04:35, 7 August 2008 (BST)
...As he trolls your talk page... - Tylerisfat 05:23, 8 August 2008 (BST)
I trolled his, though. Big time. With giant sized emo hearts. :P But, he's the one got himself a month long ban, with a possible perma for sockpuppeting. Now quit trolling my talk page and go flame my beer and wine stains suggestion. --WanYao 05:26, 8 August 2008 (BST)

Suggestions Fun!

"Actually, this vote was leaning more towards a response to Grim's statement here: Yet another example of clear bias affecting a decent suggestion negatively. than anything else. You can kinda say it popped a nerve, considering that I can count on one hand many times when he himself didn't vote on the merit of a suggestion, nor many of the rest of us here. But I won't get any further into that. My apologies if it seemed directed at you." Wasn't sure if you received this message from me or not. Incidentally, you were right in pointing out that I may have gone a little overboard with the rant about, ironically, drama in the suggestions side of the wiki, and for that I apologize. --Private Mark 03:57, 6 August 2008 (BST)

Sigh

Don't tell me about spamming the news page and then you go post a comment to a user, something frowned on by the community. So, why the sudden hypocritisy. :D--Jakezing 15:28, 5 August 2008 (BST)

Yeah, I stretched the rules somewhat... However, while I'm a firm supporter NPOV, I also am cool with some "stretching" of the rules. Always have been, still am. However... My post contained useful and relevant information. Which yours did not. And... when I need to remove a news post -- especially one that contains relevant and important information -- I usually move it to the Talk page. Which you did not do... Talk about hypocrisy etc etc blah blah... Smarten up, Darkmagic. Leik, fer REALZ. --WanYao 17:13, 5 August 2008 (BST)
Problem fixed the way it admittedly should have been in the first place. You mention that people frown upon direct comments to other users in the News, eh? Well... Fair enough. But then you wholesale deleted a News post that contained -- admittedly along with NPOV direct commentary to a user -- useful and important information. This is also frowned upon, very strongly, sir. Standard procedure is to move such posts to the Talk page. --WanYao 17:33, 5 August 2008 (BST)
Oh yeah.. install a fucking spell-checker, you cretin. Sorry... had to get that out... ;P --WanYao 17:34, 5 August 2008 (BST)
This is the only reason i like wikipedia over user made wikis.--Jakezing 19:35, 5 August 2008 (BST)
What are you on about??? Anyway, Darkmagic, I may be being jerkish about it... okay... But I am also providing legitimate critiques that it would probably be in your best interest to follow. Specifically regarding the news. You efforts to help out and contribute are noted and appreciated -- but why not try to do it properly, so the efforts aren't wasted?? Also, people who don't have a grasp of basic spelling and grammar are rarely taken seriously. You really ought to work on these things: Firefox has an add-on that underlines mistakes, consider using it... It might help in you not getting jumped on so much... --WanYao 19:43, 5 August 2008 (BST)

You mentioned SA on the Talk:Suggestions page. What are they? A wiki search redirects to the Soviet Army. (By the way, I am not a member, whatever they are.) --JaredTalk SPA CK 18:23, 26 July 2008 (BST)

Suggestions page and the like

Sorry to sound like a pissy trencher or something. I don't want to stretch this out longer, but I want to be understood. I honestly didn't think i was responding to criticism defensively, I was honestly trying to get people specific opinions. Swiers was pointing out tactical reasons why it wouldn't work. I didn't know those tactics, so I questioned it. This is an idea I thought about, not for days, but for long enough that i knew i wasn't finding what was wrong with it, so i put it on the discussion page. I didn't suggest it, i'm not going to suggest it. I get that it doesn't work now that i get other perspectives, but I didn't think the things that are flawed with it would come into play, because my way of play hasn't had me deal with a situation where this change would cause a problem. I don't think i reacted in some crazy way to peoples criticisms, i just got pissed at the people using rationality that made no sense. I get that its a broken idea, i just don't appreciate the comments on intelligence that really have no base.Tylerisfat 08:56, 26 July 2008 (BST)

Arbies

Dude, I fully agree with you that the wiki is broken as regards many things, however I believe the strategy you propose on the A/A page is wrong and will only lead to further breakage.

Just my thoughts though. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 22:46, 22 July 2008 (BST)

That's exactly the point. Expose the holes. Tear them WIDE OPEN. And storm inside. And make a big fucking mess. GRAAAAAAAAGH! --WanYao 22:50, 22 July 2008 (BST)
I tried that, especially on the Vandalism page. Doesn't work, cause them to cement the breaks with "Sysops may ignore policy when acting in good faith for the wiki". Admittedly the biggest proponent of that is gone, but I think the way to go is to work with individuals in the system. I actually hold out great hope for Grim's tenure as Bureaucrat. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 22:55, 22 July 2008 (BST)
the Admin team, taken collectively, is like those survivors who stand and die in malls and who walk into unransacked buildings and shoot zombies but can't be arsed to heal or barricade or anything. There seems to be no talking to sense to them, they don't seem to learn... So, it all about exacerbating the crisis, and pushing it to the edge Lev Trotsky style... And with J3D and Grim as our "entryist candidates"? ;P Actually, truth be told, I can't be arsed to wage a big war, but I will be there, groaning and biting... --WanYao 22:59, 22 July 2008 (BST)

And isn't it ironic that our resident SA sysop going all ban-hammery and authoritarian-like versus someone making some jokes and "protesting" the fucked-up-ed-ness of the wiki? Ideas

Thanks for your re: I agree with you, not going to the talk page was probably a dumb idea on my part & a thick skin is heavily required. I was more confused about the spams than kills, but maybe thats my misinterpretation of the spam "word usage," i mean a get it but then again maybe not. I still disagree with you that my idea is bad - perhaps my implementation is poor and needs revising, since there are glaring errors in AP/XP retribution or maybe they were things that I thought would happen, but I left them in my head - rather than on the page, as I thought they would be ass-u-me-d. With me? Anywho, I will port over that topic to talk and hopefully you can continue to help me develop it and we can hash it out a bit more there. Thanks!--Ashcorvin1 17:38, 11 July 2008 (BST)

You can take our lives, but you can never take OUR TEMPLATES!

I-want-you.jpg Play on Names
This user received a template with his likeness. Get it?
I, WanYao.
I Want You.
Not in -that- way.
The Uncle Sam Military way.

Congratulations WanYao. I was bored. So you benefit from my boredom by getting a Play on Names template. Enjoy. --Tselita 01:34, 26 June 2008 (BST)

O_O !!! that doesn't translate off IRC, but oh well...

Please go to http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/UDWiki:Administration/Deletions and vote Keep so that the Grimch doesn't try to delete the template I made for you (and others). Thank you. --Tselita 13:12, 27 June 2008 (BST)

Curious about your abitration case.

I'd understand if you declined to answer. But I'm just curious about your case. I noticed that the barricade plan seemed to have stabilized in a zombie plan, official plan, and locked down plan even before the protection. So my question is, is that unacceptable? If so, what makes it so? It's obviously tongue in cheek, but the last version seems "neutral" enough. Again, this is just for my own personal edification/curiosity. If you consider it any kind of imposition, please delete this and think nothing more of it. Thanks.--Jack's Cold Sweat 05:35, 24 June 2008 (BST)

The current version says something about the DHPD plan being of "historical interest" only... This is a backhanded attempt by the Dead to slight the DHPD and to propagandise themselves and is thus not NPOV. Meanwhile, there was nothing wrong with my previous edit which was something I literally swiped right off the Ridleybank wiki and changed the names involved. I made every effort to create a neutral page. Which Capt Schwartz edit-warred quite blatantly with me over. All said and done, Capt Schwartz appears to have made only a token gesture towards pseudo-NPOV and in reality just wants to take passive-aggressive shots at his group's declared enemy in Dunnel Hills. And, if you read the full history, you'll see Capt. Schwartz' blatantly offensive edits to the page... which he removed... but which IMO further demonstrate that his intent is passive aggressively disruptive, not constructive. And I have no problem with your question, in fact -- I thank you, you've helped me formulate my arguments for the Arby case. ;P --WanYao 06:18, 24 June 2008 (BST)
Actually, mea culpa on one point: it seems CS may have removed the DHPD ARE BIG FAGGOTS comment rather than have written it? Can't really tell one way or another, though, whether that was some kind of underhanded edit, or an actual revert. --WanYao 06:41, 24 June 2008 (BST)
Ah, well cheers then, glad to be of service. And thank you. :)--Jack's Cold Sweat 06:51, 24 June 2008 (BST)

Open Door comments

Just making sure I read something correctly, you feel (and apparnetly Boxy feels as well) that the repair part of the suggestion should probably be removed, and just keep the Open doors making body dumping possible should be implemented? --Tselita 16:54, 23 June 2008 (BST)

i think so ... i haven't looked at that since i flamed grim, cuz i haven't wanted to get into the drama again....
When I take it to voting, I'll probably remove the repair part then. It seems to be where most of the contention is regarding the suggestion. --Tselita 01:33, 24 June 2008 (BST)

Re

Ok, sure, you do what you think is best. I have to admit I didn't really read through it... ;-) I'll try to help out where I can --Nitro378 T JNL 08:36, 23 June 2008 (BST)

HIPS

Fucking hell. Your attitude stinks. We don't see eye to eye on a point in an article, and you immediately come onto my talk page swearing and threatening arby? Fuck you. People can work together on a page, you know, collaborate to make it better, but if you automatically revert anyone elses changes and swear at them, that isn't going to happen. Fine, it's not important. But your fucking attitude is shit. Keep the fuck off my talk page until you've got the ants out of your vagina. Garum 11:57, 22 June 2008 (BST)

You unilaterally change the page. I revert it back. You change it AGAIN to your old edits. You justify your cocnerns and your edit. I make an edit that, I believed, addresses your concerns. Then you edit the page again. And you accuse me of having a bad attitude? Because I am pissed at your pedantry??? No. You get a grip. --WanYao 12:12, 22 June 2008 (BST)

Good thing to reflect upon

Wan, I know we haven't frequently seen eye to eye, and I usually come off as trying to intentionally be contrary, but what you said on Nubis' page does make sense. Axe has told me the same thing - that I should just stop letting them get to me and stop responding to what they say. I know I let them -easily- goad me into arguments and I really should just ignore them - it tends to be hard for me to do so though when they persist, because I don't like it to look like I'm backing down. I'm going to try to ignore it when they taunt me more often though.

Okay, got that off my chest. Thank you for being the voice of reason there. I'm going to stop responding to what they say on their user pages about me - I guess the best way to let someone grief you is to let them see it's working and I've been falling for it repeatedly. --Tselita 00:05, 19 June 2008 (BST)

Heh

Thanks for the reply. I love it how hard line rule following is far more important on this wiki then relevance. I mean the author could reply saying fuck you you shit head bitch and it'd stay, but a useful reply like that will probably get struck. We live in desperate times...and why aren't you irc?--xoxo 10:07, 3 June 2008 (BST)

Cuz I should be sleeping. Therefore I am hiding from IRC. Logical? Never said it was... ;P And, I moved the comment to the Talk page because, yeah, some prig would probably strike it... --WanYao 10:09, 3 June 2008 (BST)
Yeah since i last archived i became pro-own talk page reply. It makes wiki-stalking people's conversations so much easier. the whole do unto others thing...--xoxo 10:12, 3 June 2008 (BST)

I'm really srry

I wasn't trying to purposly kill ya alt in st. alex the other day. All i wanted to do was hit ya with a newspaper and tell ya to behave. My comp seemed to have stalled and stopped the menu. Reason why i dumped you was if ya rose ya'd have prob gotten killed again. Stand him up and i'll revive him and let ya kill me in return. The only people i try to PK are members of the LNTV Crue, a PK group that griefs us. Again srry for the killing. Drop a note on my talk page--Dragon fang 07:32, 3 June 2008 (BST)

Zombie XP Cost thing

In case you don't see it on the suggestion talk page, repeating it here. No WanYao, I wasn't referring to you as the person pushing buttons. I was referring to others. --Tselita 20:31, 27 May 2008 (BST)

Wan Yao pushes only his own buttons!!! Oh... uhm... that didn't come out quite right... uuuuuhmm -- moi

My apologies..

to the fine zambahs of the MOB.. Omnus is one of our more...colourful members. We've tried every treatment imaginable with that one. Car Battery Shock Treatment, the Tube and Funnel of pilly fun, sock puppet shows, jingle keys, tying him up in the basement and leaving him in solid darkness for a few days on end.. and nothing seems to work. He's also a regular Houdini and flees our loving care facilities on an almost day-to-day basis. We'll try to right his wrongs in the future. xoxox ~ --Morgueasm 19:05, 27 May 2008 (BST)

Sadly, his "good RP fun" bordered on text rape... -- moi
That was far, far from text rape. I despise text rapists and am currently hunting one down repeatedly until he learns to stay far far away from Roftwood. That's typical smack talk. Infact it's mild compared to the things my PKer says. Maybe you're the one who takes this game too seriously.--Omegaomnus 06:37, 28 May 2008 (BST)
I'd have to disagree on the text-rape thing as it's not like he gangbanged you with his banana, Wan. But I don't want to let this spoil any sort of zombie/food relationship we may have in the future. I liked the MOB enough to join 'em after I was eaten.. don't let what one person considers fun ruin the fun that could be had elsewhere. Just add him to your list and ignore him. *shrug* --Morgueasm 16:53, 29 May 2008 (BST)
Ignore lists, yes, sure... But I do know I'm not the only one who felt his "trash talk" was over the top. And there is a big difference between using a humourous fruit allegory in a sexually suggestive manner versus explicitly describing sexual functions and content. The comments were not funny, they were not some kind of ironic RP "fun", and I don't care if that's how jocko macho assholes talk to each other in the locker room: in real life I avoid people who think that bullshit is "funny"... and call 'em on it, if I am exposed to it, as well, I'm funny that way, I guess... Anyway, ignore list, yeah, sure... Ciao... --WanYao 22:34, 29 May 2008 (BST)

Dear Mr. Wan Yao

As president of Umbrella it is not my job to make up lies or spread propaganda for the soul purpose of the corporations gain, because we have a whole cell responsible for that. In Ridleybank we had an operation, now we have had operatives down there for quite some time from one of our platoons and the U.B.C.S. For you and others to completely disregard our presence as merely trying to steal the spotlight is a complete fallacy. Just because we put our name and not the other survivor groups listed in people names does not make us crooks, I am sure you don't go around the suburb clicking every single persons name just to find out what group they are in and then click their forums to see how long they have been there. So you can blame me for not giving credit where credits due but I am not going to try and research for something like this. We had an operation and completed it, I didn't go out and say, "Only thanks to Umbrella this suburb is now safe." or something cloche like that, so stop attacking me like I did. Please edit your rudeness as this is obviously a misunderstanding. We want the support of Survivors not the image of an evil corporation, (even though we are) that is why we have so many allies because we seek them. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely, Umbrella Corporation President, --Jackson 22:48, 27 May 2008 (BST)

All it takes is a perusal of the Ridley News, and a tiny bit of knowledge about recent Malton "history," to know who's been in Ridley since the start of the "reclamation". And... apparently I am far from the only one who took offence with what was widely seen as a usurpation of the credit for getting Ridleybank safe (Excusion III notwithstanding). And, furthermore... can't you fekkin' read? new comments at the top, please, sheeeeesh... --moi
However... I was out of line. It's been removed.

Canada

I watched this video yesterday for some canadian beer that was just going on about canada. made me think of you :) Apparently they got bought by a us beer and had to stop running the ad...lol. Also, you've probably been asked this 1000 times but why isn't it called canadia?--xoxo 01:21, 5 July 2008 (BST)

Whoops

Hey, thanks for the head's up. I didn't realise that's considered POV here. :) -pinkgothic 18:42, 13 July 2008 (BST)

Haha, awesome. Well, you can always chew on me for a snack or put some bullets into me, I'm perfectly happy-go-lucky about that. XD Death cultism is fun. I'd probably be going that way if I had the time to roleplay Urban Dead, but alas... :) *tips hat to* I commend you for an excellent choice of colours! ;D -pinkgothic 19:40, 13 July 2008 (BST)

Talk:Suggestions Page

Is there a reason you removed that template I placed on the page warning users that people would troll them on there? Is there an even better reason for your snarky comment in the summary line? I'm just curious why you decided that didn't belong there and was vandalism. What have you been doing to maintain that page again (other than your venomous trolling)? --– Nubis NWO 16:42, 30 July 2008 (BST)

Thanks for the Yagoton Suburb Updates!

I appreciate seeing them, espcially since you seem to try make sure your posts are impartial and apply to the NPOV! --MorthBabid 09:59, 11 August 2008 (BST)
