20070829 Hide In Ruined buildings

Suggestion type
Skill/Improvement

Suggestion scope
Ruined Buildings/Survivors

Suggestion description
Due to the fact so many suburbs are ruined now, new means of hiding are essential. My idea is that Survivors should be able to have the Civilian skill hide for 100xp under the wreckage of ruined buildings. Only zombies with Scent Blood can find them. Scent blood will allow them to "sniff" out the survivors to kill them. This would keep away the lower leveled ones. Hiding will cost 1 AP. This will only work for Ruined buildings. Ransacked will be left out due to zombies wont likely stop at a ransack.

Justification- Zombies usually dont check ruined buildings for prey, so this skill wont have any devastating effects, but would help in keeping out the lower levels and the zombies that do go door to door.

Pking/BHingHumans can see other humans hiding due to they have more intelligence about them. This skill should not help PKers staying hidden and make it harder for bounty hunters.

the stick - The survivors are getting the short end of it. We are desperate for something that will help us at the moment. All of the NW is ruined, so It would be plausible to hide in the debris to escape prying eyes. But it is a tad overpowered, so decrease it to where zombie-kind are able to search for people.
    Unsigned vote struck. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:02, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - I really like it! Reflow 22:26, 31 August 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Almost - Not quite a keep. Newbie zeds have a hard enough time already. They don't need more nerfing. How about a "Search" button, where they can search for 1 AP, with a 50% chance of finding a survivor. That makes it an effective skill, but not a total nerf. This should be implimented along with a zombie hiding skill(Like a zombies can spend one AP to be invisible from surrounding squares). BoboTalkClown 21:33, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - Although as a modification of the above, I'd be okay with it so long as a search always revealed the person and there was an upper limit on how many people could hide in a given building. The original suggestion is good to adding to the chess game of experienced players, but widens the gulf between high and low level players even more. Also, PKers should be able to hide themselves from other survivors this way. If they're willing to risk fleeing into zombie territory to avoid a Bounty Hunter, they should be rewarded.--Insomniac By Choice 21:42, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - hiding in ruins is pretty effective already, often zombies don't bother checking inside. -- Pavluk 21:45, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill/Fixable - as Bobo and Insomniac. Survivor-survivor hiding and zombies being able to sniff out would make it ok. PKers are people too. Just murderous ones. This would make it a whole lot more interesting if those little kinks were worked out. --Howard Bentley 22:10, 29 August 2007 (BST)
I know its not perfect. I can probaly annex the search idea for newb zombies, but the fact that survivors cant see each other makes no sense, how are they suppose to know who else is in the room and heal each other? It would help PKers for their well earned work sure, but Im sure survivors in general would like to see each other.--Doctor Oberman 22:20, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  5. change - if scent blood gave a 50% chance per action to spot em then yes.... searching should give a flat 50% meaning scenters would always find someone (if there is someone of course) Likewise any harman searching should get a +50% chance to find em (scent bonus would not cross) --Honestmistake 23:46, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill You're oh-so close to making a workable hiding suggestion. Good try, but no cigar. Move it to talk. --Seventythree 23:46, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - A decent suggestion, but the fact is hiding just isn't a good idea in UD. --Sonofagun18 07:52, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Weak Kill - Agh, I like this a lot, but it's just too powerful. Perhaps you could develop it more on the suggestions talk page? --Hhal 19:22, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill Why? This is like going invisible. NO. --Secruss 21:06, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - no -- Vista  +1  12:48, 4 September 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Unlike all previous hiding skills and such like, this doesn't create zombie ambush squads, but instead creates survivor ambush squads. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:53, 29 August 2007 (BST)
Lol I apprecaite the criticism, but perhaps you dont pay attention to the danger level wiki, theres way too many ruined buildings, and its not like were going to hide a whole army and suddenly storm the suburbs by force. Itd be hard to coordinate ambushes even with the hide skill. Scent Blood is the defense against that.--Doctor Oberman 23:37, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - No ninja skills. Look in the guides section. I wrote you a lovely article on how to survive, and even fight. Go use that. --The Grimch Sysop-U! 00:07, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - I was going to vote Kill, but you made a major change after the initial post (big no-no). You can clarify, but you can't change. The proper procedure for "testing the waters" to see if an idea will fly, as well as get feedback for possible changes, is to take it to the developing suggestions page. If you feel that a suggestion you have already posted needs to be changed, you should withdraw the original, then put up your finished version when you've worked it out. --Steakfish 01:20, 30 August 2007 (BST)
Im sorry I didnt know that, this was my first time, its been remade into its original suggestion, but I doubt It makes much difference now.--Doctor Oberman 03:18, 30 August 2007 (BST)
Don't feel too bad if your idea gets killed or spammed. Most of them do. It's just the way things are. To cut down on the killing and spamming, though, read the frequently suggested ideas and remember to use the help/developing suggestions page. --Steakfish 04:58, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Spam - WTFCENTAURS --Sonny Corleone RRF DORIS CRF pr0n 08:46, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam - Pointless. -- John RubinT! ZG FER 08:51, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Spam - Hiding and you already can hide in ruined buildings because zombies aren't likely to check them for food. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 13:17, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Spam - No ninja skills. --Saluton 15:33, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Spam just sucks doesn't help pkers from Bh'ers ? A zombie would be able to sense a human hiding far better than a human could. Anyways it gives survivors an edge if you were allow zombies to camouflage in buildings I would vote keep because it would be fair--Johnny Reb 16:28, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  9. Spam - As said, survivors can already hide... you're unnecessarily buffing something that already exists. One more time, kids: survivors don't need a buff -- they need to up the level of their play. --WanYao 19:10, 30 August 2007 (BST)
  10. Spam - Barricades are enough. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:07, 31 August 2007 (BST)

  12. Screw it. I'm not giving a reason for the rest of my votes in this spree.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 17:20, 9 September 2007 (BST)
  13. Spam - No Ninjas. --Saluton 16:16, 13 September 2007 (BST)
