20080209 Renovation

Wyvern 55 00:33, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Human skill

Suggestion scope
Survivors in areas with few/no hospitals or NecroTech buildings.

Suggestion description
This skill, available to survivors with the construction skill, allows a survivor with a toolkit to use 30 AP to ‘renovate’ a powered building into a usable lab or a hospital (but not both). While this does not change the building type or the chances of finding items while searching, skills usable only in specific building will be usable in the newly renovated building.

Using surgery, manufacturing a revivification syringe or reviving zombies with brain rot could all be possible in these newly modified buildings. Since the building type does not change; all things possible in the building before the renovation are still possible afterwards.

The modification is able to be selected independently for attack and is similar to a radio or a generator in that respect. There can only be one modification in a building at a time, as modifying two parts would ensure a lack of space in the building and a lack of materials usable for the job.

If one wishes to modify a building that has already been modified, they still spend the full 30 AP to make the modification, but the initial renovated area is destroyed.

A renovated area is not recognizable as such from the street. However the internal description will be modified to illustrate the change, as below:

You are inside the Stuart Building. The building has been extremely heavily barricaded, a corner has been set up as an improvised triage centre. Also here are Some Guy(50HP), Another Guy(55HP) and Someone Else(60HP).

Somebody has spraypainted DENTAL PLAN! onto a wall.

Keep Votes

  1. Author's vote. Wyvern 55 00:40, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Keep - I should probably vote kill on this, but... I feel like I need to vote keep....--/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 00:46, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

Kill - this needs to be taken to discussion - there's a lot wrong with it. First off, it's two suggestions, not one. The hospital (ie triage) part should be separate from the NT part. Then, there's the issue of how someone with construction and a toolkit, but not Surgery or NecroTech Employment, would have the first clue of what to build. This is all before you have to convince all the voters that expanding the survivors' powerbase of Tactical Resource Locations (into hidden locations where they can't be seen from the outside) isn't horribly nerfing the zombie players. The only reason this is a Kill vote and not an out of hand Spam, is that I like the idea of a triage. (Oh, and, a high AP cost doesn't mean it's balanced, especially if you - incorrectly - treat AP as a unit of time and consider that you're suggesting that a hospital or an NT facility can be constructed by a single person with only about two thirds of a single day's work.) AND, you're also suggesting that a Mall could have the power of, let's say, two Hospitals and two NTs, whilst still having everything that a Mall has. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 00:46, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  1. Kill - as spam voters, except spam/dupe votes are for jerks--CorndogheroT-S-Z 05:22, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Too unbalancing, not realistic. --Pgunn 06:52, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - You lost me when you mentioned "renovating" buildings into NT centers, which I not only find highly unlikely, but somewhat impossible. Are we supposed to believe that we somehow rebuild the delicate machinery that makes syringes in another building? As for the triage center... meh... --Private Mark 06:55, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill - I like the idea of the Triage centre but the NT building idea is just s bit OTT. I think you should resubmit this only as the Triage idea but make it obvious to people outside that there is one. For example, a tattered cloth with a red cross on it hung out of a window to let everyone know that there is one there. -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 11:32, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Kill - as Cheeseman said, i think this would be better off if you proposed creating ' field hospitals ' or something, perhaps consuming some first aid kits as well as using a toolbox--Scotw 11:50, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. Kill - As Scotw. --BoboTalkClown 00:48, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill - As Cheeseman.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  07:53, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - As Funt, except I don't think this should be taken anywhere. There's just too much wrong with it. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 00:52, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Spam - As Midianian. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 00:57, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Spam - I'd say worst suggestion ever, but I've seen worse. This sucks, anything that makes more hospitals or NTs sucks. What would happen if either were done in a mall? If you don't understand that think Surgery with an FAK every 2 AP.--Karekmaps?! 01:16, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Spam - This is ridiculous. Part of the fun of residing in the outer suburbs is the challenge of surviving with very few NTs or hospitals. If you don't want that challenge, then go somewhere with more resource buildings. --Howard Bentley 01:52, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Spam - Total nerf to brain rot. Zombies break into mall, survivors convert mall into "NT mode" and combat revive brain rotters. Although it WOULD make running a Rot Revive clinic a hell of a lot easier, it begs the question- where did all the new computers the new psuedo-NT is using in its wireless network come from? 6. Spam - This is, by far, one of the most overpowered things I have ever seen suggested. --Druuuuu OcTRR 03:21, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Spam - What the fuck?! --Papa Moloch 05:05, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  8. Spam - This is about the 40th most overpowered thing i have ever seen. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 06:56, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  9. spam - 1 toolkit and 15 hours of work and you have a scientific lab prepared? --~~~~ [talk] 11:17, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  10. Spam- As above.~-Studoku 14:15, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  11. I am on a voting spree, but to make this vote valid, I'm in agreement with the above voters. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 15:27, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
