Hunger Of The Damned

Timestamp: MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 00:06, 20 April 2007 (BST)
Type: Zombie HP Buff
Scope: Max HP +5, but you have to eat for it...
Description: Pretty basic..

Hunger Of The Damned

Appears on zombie skills tree as a sub-skill of digestion, adds no benefits to your human character.

Your zombie's maximum HP total is increased by 5, but when you stand up you do not get this 5 HP added to your total. You can only gain this additional HP by other means (ex. digestion, someone uses an FAK on you.)

  • So, for starters a zombie can have 50 HP.
  • With this skill, while a zombie (and not bodybuilding) a max. of 55 HP, but when you stand you have only 50 HP.
  • With just bodybuilding, max. 60 HP and you have that when you stand up of course.
  • This skill plus bodybuilding, when you're a zombie your max HP is 65, but when you stand up you start with 60 HP. Basically the same as things are now.. but you can get tougher if you get to feed...

All this means, is in zombie form your character can be tougher, but that only helps you if you remain standing or get your hands on a meal before that complimentary headshot. This is a minor benefit to add to biting as another legitimate zombie tactic (spreading infection, and buffing up your HP total.)

It's totally fair, because you have to earn it, and it won't come into play all the time.. just whenever your zombie isn't dispatched quickly. So it's a benefit to humans failing to drop you quickly.

Technically a pure zombie player can buy this before having to buy bodybuilding.. or never buy bodybuilding if they so choose.

Keep Votes

  1. Author Keep What the hell, a zombie skill that is all about being beefy.. if you've eaten. Not a problem for human players with pistols and shotguns! MrAushvitz Canadianflag-sm.jpg 00:06, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  2. Sure - All right with me. And I play only survivor. -Mark D. Stroyer SoH 01:57, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Health doesn't benefit zombies much, so this isn't as powerful as it may initially seem. By the way, I think you are using the term "damned" improperly. Nobody passed judgment on them, so it would be more accurate to call it "hunger of the dead."--Bluish wolf 02:03, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - I'll pass judgement on them. Damn zombies! Anyway, this is pretty cool and I like it. --Uncle Bill 02:36, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - Not a bad suggestion... not a bad one at all. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 02:46, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  6. Very Much a provisional keep I'm not entirely sure, but this looks like it could work. after all, in every zombie film i've seen, zombies are a lot tougther than humans. My only concern is that it might unbalance stuff, but i guess that might finaly get survivors to actualy, you know, work together maybe? --Seventythree 08:35, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - It makes digestion more useful =P - JedazΣT MC ΞD GIS S! 08:35, 20 April 2007 (GMT)
  8. Keep - Flip Jedaz, that's a giant sig in wiki-code. --Toejam 18:23, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep - Good suggestion, not really overpowering. And despite what the Spam voters say, zombies are still the weaker class and could use another buff (or 10). So zombies control more of the map, its a freaking zombie apocalypse, it should be that way. --Gm0n3y 22:33, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  10. Keep - Biting only really shines in real-time fights, at any other time it sucks. (I should know, I've got a maxed purist zombie that only uses teeth on breathers, for style reasons.) Anything to make biting more worthwhile would be nice. (No, this is not an invitation to flood the suggestions page with claw nerfs, harmanz.) --Mold 13:15, 21 April 2007 (BST)
  11. Keep - I've been on a pro survivor kick lately, but I also think zombies SHOULD be hard to kill; killing them is a lousy survivor tactic anyhow. However, I don't agree with all the zombie players who say the bite is inferior to the claw, though- they are just different. The bite attack is in fact optimal (even without the tangling grasp bonus) in several cases, resulting in fewer average APs needed to cause death than claw attacks (even with tangling grasp bonus) alone would. And that leaves out the benefits of infection! Join MotA, and you will see some serious chomp power at work; we turn EVERY survivor we attack green, and use bites as a "killing blow" quite often. I can not remember a single day where my MotA zombie found a target and did not do at least 8HPs damage with teeth. --Seb_WiersctdpImagine 14:03, 21 April 2007 (BST)
PS- I moved Shadowscope's non-vote comment to the discussion page; my reply above addresses it, and I;d be happy to expand upon the subject of how the bite is not "weaker" than claws on the discussion page. --Seb_WiersctdpImagine 14:06, 21 April 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Zombies are hard enough to kill with BodyBuilding and a Flackjacket. --Deathnut RAF 02:09, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill/Change - How about all zombies start with 50 HP when stranding up and if they have bobybuilding, then they have to bite their way up to it. Gives some incentive to not die while simultaneously making them easier to kill. -Heretic144 02:13, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill No. Mattiator 03:43, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill Prefer Funts PR'd suggestion. –Ray Vern Pig.gifphz T 09:31, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - As above, zombies are hard enough to kill w/ a flak jacket. --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 09:34, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  6. As Funt down there in spam. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 12:16, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  7. change - I would go further and make this an extra 10HPs but (and its a big but) only if flak degraded and zeds stood up on 50HPs regardless of bodybuilding! Remember a newly revived harman is usually infected so this would not be as big a nerf as it seems!
  8. I just realized that you can gain the 5 extra HP through other means...including FAKing. Yes, I know, death culting is awesome and all...but HEALING zombies? You know what? No.--ShadowScope 00:56, 21 April 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill since a zombie can never really die this just doesn't seem needed. If a zombie had a home cemetery so when they died they restarted back where they came from. Then I could see making zombies stronger or more resilient. Divs 02:26, 21 April 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill Zombies already can rise for 1/6 AP at full HP. Can't see why they need even more HP Bluetigers 08:00, 21 April 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill Because killing zombies with flak jackets and bodybuilding is hard enough as it is. - BzAli 11:08, 21 April 2007 (BST)
  12. Change Since I strongly support Bite incentives, I like this skill...but it's overpowered as it is. I suggest making it so that if a zombie gets this skill they stand up with 55 or maybe 50 Hp only. So that makes it a skill that greatly increases Bite incentives and yet comes with a suitable balancing factor. - Ashnazg 1222, 21 April 2007 (GMT)
  13. Sorry Kill with some mods this could work, it is awfully close to getting my keep vote, but sorry, no. even though i like zombie masters better, this is just something needing some change. keep up the good work to get my vote. Chris' 'Redfield 17:55, 21 April 2007 (BST)
  14. Kill - I think the extra health for zombies is unneeded.--Vista 10:55, 23 April 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - at least with my (Peer Reviewed) Advanced Digestion skill, the extra HP were temporary. You're just giving away a 5HP increase across the board. Yes, I know they have to bite to get it - or would healing work as well? To those that say "HP doesn't really matter to a zombie" - that's 100% pure bullshit! Of course it cocking well matters - it matters when you're holding a ransacked building - it matters when you're trying to break into a mall - it matters when you don't want to get headshot and lose 6AP. Make no mistake - HP matters to a zombie. An extra 5 with no downside? Fark off. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 08:38, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - Oh, no no no. Look at the Suburb page. Unless the zombies retreat, there's no way of holding a suburb for more than a week, and now you want them to be even stronger. I play with a zombie, but not even I believe that my character should be stronger. --Abi79 AB 12:42, 20 April 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - Forget about it. The Hierophant. 13:06, 20 April 2007.
  4. Strong Kill -As several other peo[le- zombies are hard enough to kill, and almost impossible to drive out. In fact, no zombie buffs, at all --AlexanderRM 00:49, 21 April 2007 (BST)
