Search 100% Ransacked Buildings

Timestamp: Ev933n / Talk PPGC 05:50, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Type: balance change
Scope: Survivors
Description: There is a fundamental flaw in the game. I am tossing this suggestion up to see how logical the users of the wiki are. Ransack + Alt Abuse = 100% Permanent Zombified Population Eventuality. read more

My suggestion is to add a modifier to the Zerg flag. If more than half of the Zombies in a building are Alt Abusers then search rates are normal.

There is no logical eventuality that leads to a 100% Permanent Survivor Population.

  2. Keep 10 zombies in a building all from the same IP address: "There are nineteen zombies present. 10 of them mill about ineffectively." --Jon Pyre 06:56, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep - Altough I must confess that I rather have the alts owner zapped to death by his own mouse. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 07:02, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  4. Keep - Logical and reasonable. --c138 RR - PKer 08:32, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  5. Keep - Sounds good to me *tips hat* --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 08:57, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  6. Keep - I'm also VERY suspicious of entire suburbs that have one zombie standing in each and every building. You're not trying to tell me that 25 or so players just suddenly decided to leave their character standing in an empty building. Clear as day, that's zerging. I have no idea how to stop it, though. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 08:59, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  7. Keep - Nice anti-zerging suggestion. and Matthew farenheit: the coding for killing someone with their mouse would be a total b!!!! - Gateking 09:42, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

  8. Keep - I'm w/ Matt on this--I'd rather see soem act of unspeakable violence committed against zergers out-of-game, but I suppose this is the closest we'll get w/o having to totally revamp the character creation process. --Specialist290 16:40, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

  15. Keep - I've been waiting for a suggestion like this for a long time.--Canuhearmenow Hunt! 01:46, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
  16. Keep - Fine, although I'd rather just have it so that searches are possible in ransacked buildings period (though at much lower rates). --Reaper with no name TJ! 20:08, 26 March 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - This actually encourages alt abuse. Building's been ransaked? All a survivor has to do is to make a bunch of zombies and have them trip the zerg flag. Then all his survivor friends can search with no penalty. Bad for raids.--Bluish wolf 09:48, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
RE: Since you seem to be one of the only folks to have an original vote, I will reply to you and hope that their sheep-like ways will direct them in the same manour. Do me a favour and reply to me on my talk page at User Talk:Ev933n#Search 100% Ransacked Buildings. Tell me how you would fix this problem of logic. --Ev933n / Talk PPGC 15:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  2. Kill - As Bluish wolf. Up to 50% of the zombies in a ransacked building could be there legitimately; we shouldn't get carried away and weaken them as well as the zergs. --Toejam 10:43, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  3. Kill - OEM, as outlined in your link, actively warns people not to zerg: It advises players to have an 8-suburb bubble around their alts. So how do we prevent alt-abuse, if the alts aren't zerging? Send that link directly to Kevan instead. - BzAli 11:10, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
RE: In the realm of politeness, all I needed was one voter to "Kill" this, and suggest that I talk to Kevan. Thanks. --Ev933n / Talk PPGC 15:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  4. Kill - 50% from the same IP adress how would that work? That way I can park 50 zombies in a horde without problems as a zombie zerger or As a suvivor zerger I can create 2 zergs and park them in a NT and search 90% of the time. This a mechanic that solves nothing. A solution would be to limit the amount of characters you can create per IP in a certain amount of time after that IP's third character. I'm not even sure that there is a problem that needs to be solved, this sort of posts about zombies "winning" the game have been around since the beginning. Somehow they never materialise. Even if they did, Kevan isn't stupid. (point of order, Kevan says rule is that your characters should lead completely separate existences within the game - your characters should not collaborate, nor share (or stand outside) the same building. this sceme would easily qualify. In fact this sceme is very similar to a desksargeant set-up once used by the DHPD that was disallowed by Kevan. So despite OEM claims, this would be considered zerging.)--Vista 11:22, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
RE: Thank you for your input. I will use this information to build on my case. --Ev933n / Talk PPGC 15:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  5. Kill - Bluish wolf hammered it...Besides this will not stop zerging, a zerg flag won't go up if you had 1 account in a Nt in each suburb, (You could legit have 100 accounts without a flag ever appearing as long as there in different suburbs..) And a zerg flag doesN'T go up if 20 people (With Same IP) are in the same buildings...its called getting deleted!! (It goes up when you try to do an action with another with the same IP in the same building.. then you move to another building..) Your only incouraging regular people to make more then 3 accounts and put them in the same suburb so they can search buildings without penalty. I would like to see an anti-zerg suggestion put ingame but THIS IS NOT IT!!--Carnage 11:25, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

  6. Kill - I think Bluish wolf pointed out the flaw. - Whitehouse 12:41, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  7. Kill - Prove first that this problem is widespread and ruining the game. Every aspect of the game can be abused by zerging. The sky is not falling, chicken little. --SporeSore 14:01, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. How would a surivior KNOW that the building is searchable? ...Unless, he made zerg alts to trip the zerg flag, and then start searching the area without fear. Otherwise, the surivior won't free-run into the area, if the area is full. No chicken little.--ShadowScope 16:17, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
As JohnPyre. Also, they will free-run into ransacked buildings. They just may not stay. --Ev933n / Talk PPGC 18:18, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Bad thing. If you show "11 zombies are ZERGERS!" then zergers learn that they are tripping the zerg flag. Once they know how to trip the zerg flag, they can learn how to BREAK The zerg flag. Oops. Besides, one can easily zerg by changing IP addresses, so, really, no point. No, my friend, this is not a BUG, this is an attempt to go and cry "Chicken Little"--ShadowScope 19:05, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  2. in an effort to discourage alt abuse, you encouraged it. Congrats.--Gage 16:58, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
The effort was not to discourage alt abuse. The effort was to suggest a bug fix. If folks don't think it is a bug, or if folks don't feel this is the way to fix it, then so be it. --Ev933n / Talk PPGC 18:14, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  3. As Shadow. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 17:08, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
  4. Spam -- If you believe this is a bug then this is not the place to deal with it. That's what the Bug Reports page is for. --Matt Scott 9 13:19, 26 March 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill -- A noble idea, however, it could be used to "undo" a ransack. Just zerg your way to making a location searchable again.--Bassander 10:28, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
