20070730 Consumer Weapon

Suggestion type
Improvement
Suggestion scope
Consumers
Suggestion description
My suggestion is a simple one... Remove "Crowbars" from the weapons a consumer can start with. I just started a consumer, which is hard enough by itself, but using a crowbar... For those unfamiliar with base accuracies, you have a %5 chance to hit for 2 damage. Basically, every 20 attempts to hit, you will get 2 XP. That's 5 xp per a day. To get to 100 XP for another skill, 20 days. 20 days. I'd like to prevent this from happening to other people who are trying to have some fun with the consumer class.

Keep Votes
- Keep - As the Suggestion Do's and Don'ts: 'Make the game more fun, not less'. The games classes should be balanced.--CORN! 06:26, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep - because it looks like other voters even haven't read it >: --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 07:51, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Keepish - Your right to point out that starting with a crowbar is useless, but there are much better ways to earn XP that using any of the weapons a survivor gets. Truth told, the crowbar could be dropped from the game and not missed one bit. __Swiers___ 09:11, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I thought the Idea of a consumer starting with a random weopon was to reflect waking up one day, finding zombie have attacked and grabbing the first random thing that could be used as a weopon. So, seriously, how many people have a crowbar In their house?--Seventythree 13:05, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- KeepCrowbars are useless even for loosening barricades.Like CORN! said, its to make the game more intresting.otherwise people (who start as consumers) will just get bored and quit--Timo 1 13:45, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep Yeah, this suggestion is unneeded, huh? So is the wiki, the zoo, streets, gps, radios, generators, feeding drag, ransack, and your vote. This is worth Kevan's consideration, voting spam because it applies to survivors is immature.--Wooty 20:20, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep- Its not something that'll change the game drastically but will improve it so it think its fine to keep it--Someguy5031 00:09, 31 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I don't see any downside to this and its a needed change. --Thelightguy 01:32, 31 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep - As above. -- T 03:31, 31 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep - A small step toward fixing the currently broken Consumer class. --Pavluk 22:58, 10 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep- Good idea. The crowbar is useless, even for loosening barricades (your better with a fire axe). Perhaps another weapon could be useful. I disagree with those who say its easy to find a weapon. Consumer skills only apply to malls, and not anything else. A fireaxe is a small step up without skills to use it.--ToastrlordT TSA 00:42, 12 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep - All of the good points have been taken here. --Doctor R 9:47, 13 August 2007
Kill Votes
- Kiss My Bottom - Talk to a n00b zombie about this, and you'll get yer answer BoboTalkClown 03:49, 9 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Yeah, and Newbie Zombahs have it alot harder. --User:Axe27/Sig 02:32, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Hahahaha, don't pick a consumer, they bite, as they should. They're mall rats that can't even get into a mall The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talk • contribs) at 03:32 Monday July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - The other weapons aren't much better... and you're not going to get experience from fighting zombies as a consumer for a few levels anyways... let alone take out a zombie. --Vault 03:52, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Find a better weapon, or earn XP another way.--Pdeq 04:05, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- It's a randomly chosen weapon. How hard is it to find another?--Pesatyel 04:25, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- And for newbies who don't know where to find other weapons?--Labine50 MHG|MEMS 06:36, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Searching is a basic and fundamental aspect of the game, one of the first things newbies learn. It isn't that hard to find a weapon, even for those who don't know a lot about the game (ie. reading the wiki, etc.). What about the pool cue that can break all of a sudden?--
- And for newbies who don't know where to find other weapons?--Labine50 MHG|MEMS 06:36, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Non-combat classes shouldn't be good at combat, they also shouldn't be equipped for it, makes no sense. Oh and might I mention that crowbar makes sense because it is a means to de-barricade and get into the mall, although there are probably better choices, I don't know base item hit%s.--Karekmaps?! 09:49, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I 100% agree with Karek. Combat classes = Good @ combat. Non-combat classes = teh suxzor @ combat. Enjoy the challenge, or don't play a consumer. --Ryiis 22:02, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - It might not be the best weapon out there, but you're not a combat orientated class. crowbars have other uses as well. they're good for getting into places for example.-- Vista +1 22:39, 30 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Ok...guess your next suggestions will be about removing every other consumer weapon except the fire ax and the knife just because all other weapons sucks so much?--Sachaztan 09:27, 31 July 2007 (BST)
- Actually, no. If you took the time out of your no doubt busy schedule to check the Melee Weapons page, you will note that the crowbar is the only one with 5% accuracy. In fact, some "improvised weapons" (Not a knife or axe) have accuracies as high as 25%.--Labine50 MHG|MEMS 10:57, 31 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I agree with what other people have said about 'there are other ways to gain xp than combat'. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:11, 2 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill These are people who are desperately trying to survive a zombie infestation. They pick up the first thing they get. Wouldn't make much sense to leave this out, because then people would want to take out the sports equipment. They can go get a DNA Extractor or some FAKs and get the techs for useful weapons like everybody else. --Howard Bentley 05:00, 3 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill just kill it. there are other ways to gain xp. The fun of playing a consumer is in using some ingenuity(and prayer) to survive and level up. Dang, I almost want to vote spam - this is such an astonishingly half-witted suggestion. Jack13 14:45 Aug 3, 2007
- Re - Three problems there... 1- You can't just kill it with a crowbar, that's the point of the suggestion. 2- Ingenuity? This isn't a FPS where you can throw a smoke grenade into a 2nd story window of an abandoned office, at the same time setting off some C4 on the 3rd story to get the enemy to rush down the stairwell into your tripwire killing them all for the win. 3- Hey Mr. Witty, you time stamped wrong.--Labine50 MHG|MEMS 09:39, 5 August 2007 (BST)
- I had a consumer once...(That was when I had about 20+ characters)The best way to level them aren't fighting...it's getting into a hospital, grabbing sopme FAKs, and guessing who needs a heal. Pretty effective, but slow. Should take a week to level up, with a little luck that is. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 04:54, 7 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill As everyone's said, Consumers aren't supposed to be good at comabat; and panicky civilians pick up whatever crappy item is available and do there best to whack the rushing stiffs with it -- realistic and totally in-genre. --WanYao 23:24, 8 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill Consumers aren't supposed to be good at anything but consuming. As far as XP, a MEMS member of all people should know how to FAK their way up the ladder. At least my MEMS alt knows how to FAK. --Dipcup 01:33, 11 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill Too many new players focus on combat before they have the skills to be effective, leading to many suggestions about increasing accuracy. I've got a mid-level scientist that has NEVER engaged in combat, and I haven't had any trouble earning xp through FAKing, DNA sampling, and reviving (and a couple days spent in a library when I couldn't find any zombies). --Steakfish 19:51, 11 August 2007 (BST)
