20070822 Escape/deletion

 Savant  Chit-Chat  12:06, 22 August 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Charachter deletion

Suggestion scope
All UD players

Suggestion description
We all know that Malton is in quarantine and that entering/exiting Malton is impossible in game (in any way). This option will not make that you can "escape" Malton, it is more like "Charahter deletion". If you get bored of the game, if you cross over of some rules, or you just didn't like the game, you go to the preferences, and click on the "Charachter deletion", enter the password, you get a pop-up that says "Are you sure you want to delete your charachter? If you do, your charachter will permanently leave Malton." If you click yes your charachter will leave Malton, and the last message you will see is "You throw away your things and go over the border. You are outside Malton. This is a one-way trip. There is no more coming back" and you are deleted from the system. All masive multiplayer games have it, beacuse of security purposes or any else reasons. I think implementing these could be useful

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - "You go to the border of Malton and jump the barriers. You are cut down in a hail of automatic gunfire, your body collected and removed to a quarantined science facility for experimentation and disposal The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talkcontribs) at 12:23 22 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - I don't care if it's a dupe, this would free up some names at least. Leave the ID numbers alone. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 12:56, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Author Keep -oooops.--  Savant  Chit-Chat  13:15, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Not a dupe - The flavor is better than that one. I like it. BoboTalkClown 15:14, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - Not a bad idea, but there is the possibility of major griefing, as per Sonny's comment. Perhaps email validation would be needed to delete as well? Also - if the players are too apathetic to bother deleting, these option becomes pointless. Keep nonetheless. --the one, the only, sushiknight (talk contribs HARD E.N.D.) 16:50, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - Makes sense to me. Sockem 20:22, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - I like the idea, Simply because my younger brother likes to try and play the game so every few days he decides too make a new account and after he uses up his ap, he decides that the game is stupid, he does this every few days leaving derilict accounts all over malton and I think that screws up my combat cause the server thinks i'm cheating. Am I the only one who has that problem.User:John Basil/sig} 19:24, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep - Only if Kevan wants to sacrifice some security, of course. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 07:30, 23 August 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep - Yes. I have old disposed of character, and I would like to get rid of it. --Vortexx 18:22, 23 August 2007 (BST)
  10. Keep - I was gonna suggest this! We need a way to get rid of those characters that we screwed up on, so that newer players can use the names that we already took, but no longer want. --Vkkhamul 20:28, 24 August 2007 (BST)
  11. Keep - I too have wanted to do this to some of my alts. I started as a scout, which is quite useless, but still I end up playing if my main is out of AP. Also, I totally agree with Boxy, the message should be "You go to the border of Malton and jump the barriers. You are cut down in a hail of automatic gunfire, your body collected and removed to a quarantined science facility for experimentation and disposal" and not some unrealistic escaping thing. Lord Rutherford 12:43, 25 August 2007 (BST)
  12. Keep I originally created an account, found I didn't have the time to play, and idled out. Then, when I went to play again, I decided I should start fresh. My three idled accounts deserve to become lab-rats for men in white coats that have nothing better to do outside the quarantine. (*hits head* stupid! Furgot to sign!) --Driaquer 05:28, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  13. Keep I created one once and wanted to delete him, however i kept him and now he's my best. But still, i think this is a good suggestion. -MikhailA 13:51, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  14. Keep When I started i made about 13 yes 13 characters.I didn't know about the zerging rule and most of them were close to one of another character of mine.--Timo 1 09:51, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  15. Keep I think its a great idea. Id like to get rid of some dead weight myself. I have some charecters I dont play as anymore and I keep away from sertain areas of the map as if they were land mines.--Scout 2107 04:38, 10 September 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Change - Require email validation. ("If you really want to delete this character, enter this code/go to this url. The character will be permenantly deleted from the database with no hope of recovery. The name will become free again.") --Anotherpongo 19:11, 22 August 2007 (BST) - On second thoughts, that wouldn't help. --Anotherpongo 19:12, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - Because i don't want to go source a link to vote spam/dupe. See Druuuuu 's vote. --Jack13 20:24, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill/Change - I actually like this suggestion, but it needs email validation to make it work. --Sonofagun18 10:38, 23 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - If you want to stop playing, then just stop. There's no reason your own account, this would only influence hackers --Ju Ju Master 21:58, 31 August 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Dupe - I quite like the flavour, but the bare mechanics are pretty much the same as this. -- Pavluk 12:39, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - Whats a Charachter? --DonTickles 16:05, 22 August 2007 (BST)
HAHAHAHA, you noticed that too, eh? --Jack13 20:24, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - Back in my day if someone hacked an account they'd just buy them brain rot to grief them. And you want to give them an option to delete the account? --Sonny Corleone RRF CoL DORIS CRF pr0n 16:23, 22 August 2007 (BST)
    I don't see a reason why not--  Savant  Chit-Chat  18:00, 22 August 2007 (BST)
Because this would be the ultimate way to grief someone. Kevan doesn't allow password changes so that people cannot hack into accounts and change the password. Giving people the option to hack into an account and then delete it is insane. --Sonny Corleone RRF CoL DORIS CRF pr0n 18:03, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Dupe - Functionally this is exactly the same, only the flavour's different. --Midianian 18:27, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam - As Sonny. Not to mention, in flavor terms, no one would be able to leave Malton. It is, after all, a quarantine. --Druuuuu 19:16, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Spupe - The spam/dupe combo. I actually submitted an idea almost the same as this a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately I also didn't think about the hacking/griefing potential until after the first few spam votes came in. I spammed my own idea. Aside from hacking, being able to instantly delete a character would make zerging and other forms of alt-abuse much easier. --Steakfish 23:50, 22 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Spam As above.--Pesatyel 02:43, 23 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Spam - For atrocious spelling of "character" and also there is no need for this. If you dont want to play a character anymore, just stop playing him. He will idle out. Theres no limit to how many characters you can have, so just let him idle. Also, from a historical point of veiw, its nice to have the profiles still around in case someone wants to see how your character did. Just plain fucking no. Oh, and what sonny said. --The Grimch Mod-U! 04:12, 23 August 2007 (BST)
And now we all have to notice me on my grammar failures. I'm not english. I got grammar failures too. And it is not nice to do that. Hell, it is stupid. And i'd least expect it from a sysop.--  Savant  Chit-Chat  09:40, 23 August 2007 (BST)
  9. Spam - As Grim, minus the misspelling of view. This has come up before and been shot down by powers higher than myself.--Karekmaps?! 23:28, 24 August 2007 (BST)
  10. DIE DIE DIE! -Anyone who votes keep has clearly never felt the unrivaled bliss of having the password to the Vampires! account you've been playing the last 6 months or so suddenly change into something you don't know. --AlexanderRM 13:04, 29 August 2007 (BST)
  11. Argh! Dupe! Kill! - Wasn't the same thing suggested just a couple of days ago, sheeeesh??? READ THE GORRAM FAQ as to why character deletion will never happen. Gaaaaaad.... --WanYao 18:36, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  12. Spam IT IS SPELLED, "CHARACTER"! How can you not know how to spell that? -Downinflames 21:47, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  13. Dupe - as pavluk-- Vista  +1  11:16, 4 September 2007 (BST)
  14. Dupe away, fellas! (Link given. Look at first vote.) --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:37, 5 September 2007 (BST)
  15. Spam - Fuck no. I grief other peoples accounts all the time, so I know from experience what kind of shit I could cause with this.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 16:13, 9 September 2007 (BST)
