'''Kill or Change''' Look, I like the base idea that survivors can really screw up when hauling an axe around, but 3% is way WAY to high. You can hurt yourself by missing your mark or being careless/tired (I have a scar to prove it) but you aren't going to take 2 or 3 damage from throwing a shoulder, it hurts but it's not bad 1 damage for stuff like that. Please for the love of kevan take this to Developing suggestions, it has potential, just not where it is now. -[[User:Devorac|Devorac]] 08:06, 26 August 2009 (BST) | |||

Suggestion description
At the moment, survivors outnumber zombies by a pretty big margin, and only heavy planning and organization can overcome even a few inexperienced survivors with fire axes. To balance this, my suggestion is to add a factor of uncertainty to attacking with melee weapons (or fists)- a 3 percent chance to critically miss and damage yourself in the process.
One must assume that, in combat, novices will try moves they think will work, things they've seen out of action movies, generally stupid stuff: Only after the proper training will they be able to hit properly, and more importantly, not injure themselves. Until you take Hand to Hand Combat, there is a three percent chance that you will miss and injure yourself 1-3 damage (chosen by a random roll). This could (admittedly slightly) limit human character zerging and help the zombies a little bit.
As for Axe Proficiency: I think that knowing how to use an axe =/= knowing how to kill with an axe. My solution is to keep the accuracy, add the crit. miss chance, and be done with it.
Flavor text: Swinging your weapon a bit too hard, you miss and throw out your shoulder for x damage.
You miss, in the process your arm bends akwardly for x damage.
etc.
Note: I'm not too sure about the percentages; if its too high, or too small, just tell me. Thanks.

- Kill - While I appreciate the sentiment, making early game harder for either side probably isn't the way to do it. We should focus on zombie buffs, rather than survivor nerfs. Besides, 3% is still a very high chance, seeing that you don't only swing once and leave it be. And especially if you can't hit due to low accuracy, you'll swing even more, meaning the chance to hurt yourself increases exponentially. RinKou 02:49, 25 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill - Needless self-injury. Survivor success rates are already tinkered with to try and keep balance, or something. --Bob Boberton TF / DW 03:52, 25 August 2009 (BST)
- Kill/neutral I'm not big on the idea, but it sounds intresting... needs soem work though... try DS. --Gat 04:19, 25 August 2009 (BST)
- You doomed yourself with your "note". If YOUR not sure about the percentages, why should we, as the voters, be? You can still pull this before any spam votes show up and take it to Discussion.--Pesatyel 04:25, 25 August 2009 (BST)
