Roftwood is a suburb of Malton and located in the east of the city center. It contains Hildebrand Mall as well a rich and abundant mix of Resource Buildings. It lies within District SE-2. Its proximity to Ridleybank (immediately northwest) does make it somewhat hostile territory, but the presence of Hildebrand Mall within the suburb, Woodroffe Mall in Tollyton to the south, Nichols Mall in Stanbury Village to the west, and a healthy portion of Tactical Resource Points make it easy to defend and rebuild during and after incursions.

Visitor's Guide

Welcome to Roftwood!

Greetings visitor, Roftwood has much to offer and we hope you enjoy your visit and hope you stay with us!

The bulk of the activity in Roftwood takes place at and around Hildebrand Mall, where you can find vital supplies such as firearms, ammunition, first-aid kits and generators and also hang out with fellow survivors with an ice-cold beer.

If you are injured, you are advised to go to either Eligius General Hospital or St. Ethelbert's Hospital, where you'll receive medical care from the doctors and surgeons there. Scientists will be able to manufacture revivification syringes, access the NecroTech database and find other useful NecroTech equipment inside both the Herbert Building and the Greenhow Building. Due to the large number of buildings in Roftwood, every resource building is accessible via a free-running lane.

Generators are best found at Hildebrand Mall's hardware store but there are also four factories in the Roftwood that can also be searched. Fuel and spray cans are more available at four Auto Repair shops, the main one of which is Maiden Auto Repair, located just one block northwest of the Herbert Building. Flak jackets and ammunition can be found at Rawlins Row Police Dept, adjacent to the southeast corner of the mall.

If you prefer somewhere quieter than the bustle of Hildebrand Mall and its surrounding complex then you should visit western Roftwood. Western Roftwood serves as Roftwood's defense line due to the three police departments located there, which are optimally spaced from each other. Western Roftwood also has The Greenhow Building (an NT facility) and has an easy access to Nichols Mall in the adjacent suburb of Stanbury Village. Note that the area is usually heavily barricaded and can only be accessed by free running and via specific safehouses and entryways such as Blunden Row School and the Whale Building.

Connecting west Roftwood to the Mall complex are the Summer Building, the Wrench Hotel and an abandoned factory. The Summer Building holds Roftwood's mobile phone mast and therefore is always kept heavily barricaded, however the factory serves as an entryway and should always be accessible by survivors. The Wrench Hotel is the only hotel in Roftwood. It is close to the major buildings in the suburb (only two steps away from Hildebrand Mall and Eligius General Hospital) but it is not a Tactical Resource Point, making it a low-priority target for zombies, and a safe and convenient place to spend the night in.

Things to do!

Meet the locals! - The community in Roftwood are incredibly friendly! They party on the streets all night long! So go on, literally lose your head!

Play barricades! - Build some barricades, and then let your zombie friends tear them down again! Hours of fun.

Eat the Hobos! - We offer you plenty of tasty treats! There is the basic 'Newbie burger', the exotic 'lone zombie ham' and the Sunday special 'survivor-recently-dragged-out-of-building-pie'! Enjoy!

July 10^th

Roftwood is still a battleground, with survivors facing overwhelming pressure from zombie forces, spearheaded by the Ridleybank Resistance Front. Groups associated with the Roftwood Coordination Center are fighting to recover ground, but with the Gore Corps bringing even more numbers into the suburb, the wave of destruction appears to be spreading out from Hildebrand Mall to the rest of the suburb. --LordMoloch (talk) 22:41, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

February 23^rd

The Northwest corner of Hildebrand Mall is presently under attack by a mob of 16 zombies. Intel gathered by the Roftwood Coordination Center concludes the mob is mostly feral, with a light mix of Ridleybank Resistance Front and The Scourge.

Aside from this action, Roftwood is enjoying peace after nearly 4 weeks of total war. It took the collective effort of local survivors, the Malton Medical Staff, the Roftwood Elite, ENVY, and the Malton Civil Defense Unit to keep The Scourge from dragging the suburb into complete ruin.

February 3^rd

Zombies again control all four corners of Hildebrand Mall. Survivors had briefly reclaimed the mall on the eve on January 31 in honor of the ten year anniversary of the famous Malton Medical Staff/Last Stand. They maintained authority until the later hours of last night. Tension had been building outside the SW corner for a couple days until finally a horde of ~25 zombies composed of both the Scourge and the Ridleybank Resistance Front busted in quickly laid ruin. The event has been the biggest of the new year for the suburb.

Never before in recent history have both zombie groups smashed the mall simultaneously nor have so many survivor groups banded together in defense of the SW corner of the mall. Both survivor and zombie factions had great turn out for what looks to be just another round in a series of ongoing "struggles for hildebrand mall". Records from this event are presently being compiled by the participants at the Roftwood Coordination Center, which is largely sponsored through the efforts of the Malton Medical Staff and Quartly Study Group, and will be released soon! --ZombGG (talk) 20:17, 3 February 2018 (UTC)

January

January 18^th

Hildebrand Mall's north east and south west have been broken into and the doors have been ripped off, two zeds inside and much more outside. It seems they attacked from both sides as they have been reported in the masses outside Eligius General Hospital as well making me think that it will be there next building to fall in their conquest in Roftwood. Good luck survivors and allow strength of the gods be with you. Hildebrand Mall cannot fall!

January 17^th

Roftwood is now unstable. From both the East and now the West there are zombies... Just overnight the famous long standing Herbert Building fell to the zombies spreading an increasing feel of distress within the district. With the regular raids in the East of Roftwood (mostly aimed at the hospitals) and now this new attack many of the residences have grown concerned for the numbers of zeds attacking in this area and whether there will be much more.

With Roftwood seemingly being attacked from both sides a great deal of the live population have found refuge in Hildebrand Mall because of it's high cades and resources... they know that they cannot allow it to fall they depend on it for food, shelter basic requirements as well as power.

Also today the Blackmore Bastard Brigade made their appearance on the Central Malton Radio statementing their intentions of pushing back the Ridleybank Resistance Front, which could give us some leeway here in Roftwood.

January 11^th

Roftwood has peace in the east and war in the west. Zombie leakage from the ruined neighboring suburb of Stanbury Village and it's Nichols Mall are causing chaos and destruction for western Roftwood, particularly centered around the Greenhow Building.

Survivors in the east are rallying at the Herbert Building and dutifully maintaining the revive point at Swansborough Park. The Hildebrand Mall has been under a minor siege since this past Christmas. Survivors are holding onto the mall making quick disposal of any zombie.

The Malton Medical Staff, Quartly Study Group, and Ridleybank Resistance Front are all quite active in Roftwood and are doing a wonderful job making this suburb a fun and interesting place to be.

Revive Points

Roftwood has two NecroTech facilities:

• The Herbert Building
• The Greenhow Building

Roftwood doesn't actually have any cemeteries, however there are monitored revive points in Roftwood:

• Turpin Road (61, 51), which is one block west of the Greenhow Building NT in northwest Roftwood;
• Swansborough Park (68,53), one block north of the Herbert NT.

Radio and Cell Phone

The transmitter for the Maltel cell-phone network is located in the Summer Building, which should be kept powered and at EHB at all times. Access is via Forward Cinema one block east and two blocks south, which is a designated entry point kept at VSB+2.

Roftwood radio. Survivors in Roftwood are welcome and encouraged to use radio transmit information on the whereabouts of zeds, the locations where break ins have occurred, where they require first aid assistance as well as just about anything else.

The frequencies to tune into when in Roftwood are 26.63MHz and 26.03MHz (which is more commonly used as it covers a wider area.

Keeping Information Transmission Equipment (ITEs) operational in the district is a priority due to the instability in the region (because of the regular attacks from the western zed acclaimed capital Ridlybank).

Notable Events

The Last Stand at St. Ethelbert's Hospital

• January 10^th 2008 - January 31^st 2008

The Last stand of Roftwood was a battle between the Malton Medical Staff (MMS), Upper Left Corner (ULC) and remaining survivors of Roftwood against the RRF and ferals. After systematically levelling the suburb building by building, the final building left was St. Ethelbert's Hospital, which came to be known as "That damn Hospital that just wont fall". Though the battle was small, the conversation and comedy of the MMS and ULC was what made the event memorable.

Zombie Lectures

• November 15^th 2006 - Mar 19^th 2007

In the spacious Quartly Library zombies and survivors debated things like zombie spies, strike teams and even love. After months of discussion, the zambahz had taught the harmanz about barhah, and fought for their safehouse like any survivor should.

Ricky Martin Concert

• January 21^st 2006

The first ever Ricky Martin concert in Malton took place. The concert began on January 21^st at Floyd Stadium in Barrville, according to several fliers and advertisements sprayed on various buildings.

The Survivor Zone

Roftwood is an Eastern district in the SSZ and is one of the main suburbs within the Survivor Security Zone, the SSZ is an area incorporating most of central Malton and was setup to ensure and establish communication between the groups of survivors living in the region to come together to coordinate plans of attacks, campaigns in the hopes of unifying central Malton by working with the individual survivor groups to ensure the protection of the populates as well as a fighting force against the dead. However as of late there has been little conversation making the SSZ initiative seemingly dormant.

Barricade Plan

The Roftwood Barricade Plan is stabilized and is non-UBP compliant. Due to Roftwood's proximity to Ridleybank, overbarricading is common in practice, and some other special cases, such as dark EPs, are commonplace. Please try and rectify any breeches in the barricade plan you encounter (raising and lowering barricades appropriately), unless otherwise indicated because of attack.
