20070902 Flak Jacket Change/dead aim

El Rose 03:08, 2 September 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Change, skill

Suggestion scope
Flak Jackets

Suggestion description
Flak Jackets are overpowered, simple. Obviously I would prefer them be balanced or I wouldn't be suggesting this to balance it. Here's my idea

  • (News description) After having shot many zombie cops with flak jackets, survivors have now begun shooting towards the head and lower body. The veteran survivors have also developed a dead aim, increasing the frequency of not hitting the torso.
  • There is now a 20% chance to not shoot a flak jacket when firing a handgun on hit.
  • There is now a 10% chance to completely avoid hitting a flak jacket when firing a shotgun and a 15% chance to only hit part of it (The latter makes the shotgun hit for 9 damage)
  • There is now a 20% chance to not shoot a flak jacket when firing a flare gun (I believe that flak jackets shouldn't even protect from flare guns but then I would get a bunch of zomg nub rar tehz not equalz balanced and realism does not equal fun)
  • Skill: A skill called dead aim can be bought under the headshot tree of skills which increases all non-flak jacket hits by 5%. (Btw this costs 100 xp as usual)

To anyone who says realism does not equal fun, it wouldn't be fun for zombies if survivors had a uber ray beam of death now either would it? That's why this is a good balance, realism would be going right up to a zombie and blowing their head off from a shotgun blast.

P.S. sorry about not finishing up with that earlier suggestion page.

Note:This applies to pkers as well.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author vote --El Rose 03:09, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - This is actually a pretty good suggestion, well thought-out. I don't agree with the flare bit, and I'd lower the percentages to around 5-10%. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:23, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - I assume that means I can shoot people easier too, eh? ^-^ Neat. -- Bop 04:14, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - a couple things, first: I like the idea, it makes sense too, because a jacket only protects the torso, so it won't block bullets to, things like, the leg. secondly, I'd lower the pistol to %15 and raise the shotgun to 15% so the skill would make it be 10% for both, instead of 5% with the shotgun, and 15% with the pistol, which is a little unbalanced. Lastly, it wouldn't effect the flare gun at all, because that's minus 3 damage, and it would make the flare gun even worse (plus, it's a flare, now a bullet) -- Dane of the wolf 4:23, 2 September 2007
  5. keep - ah, ok --~~~~ [Talk] 10:57, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - Meh, it's not as bad as some of the nerfs out there that have been proposed. Nalikill 15:54, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - I'm not that fussed with humans using flack jackets. After all, they're more of a zombie item than a human Item. All a zombie has to do is ressurect, find a flack jacket (maybe a couple in case they accidentaly drop one) and then they've pretty much got a gaurunteed 20% damage reduction from most human attacks. Flack jackets are'nt actualy that usefull to humans, exept for defending againgst PKers. This might even things out a bit.--Seventythree 15:59, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep Waaah! Boo-hoo, a nerf for zombies! Get over it. Glenstone 04:14, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep YaY! I get to do more damage to greenies with my guns! Oh, wait... they're all empty... @#$%!!! --Driaquer 05:39, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  10. Yay - I', a zed, and i think it's nice! BoboTalkClown 23:58, 4 September 2007 (BST)
  11. Keep - I like it, especially the part about a new skill. I would like to see the skill have more of an effect though (like +15%), and balance this by lowering the initial chance to miss the flak jacket. --Pdeq 07:40, 11 September 2007 (BST)
  12. Keep- seems like a good idea, but lower the odds of missing the vest without the skill, keep skill the same.

Kill Votes

  1. KILL KILL DEATH - FlacJacks are not overpowered ffs its only one point, and you can attack another target if you dont like it. BTW Kevan has better things to be working on. Sockem 05:43, 2 September 2007 (BST)
Re: Rofl (Btw you can't switch targets when fighting zombies, if you could then people would) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rose (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.
  2. KILL - Why would the 2nd tier zombie hunter skill apply to pkers but not headshot itself?--Pestilent Nomad 10:21, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Flak Jackets are not overpowered, simple. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 10:57, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - just because you say something is overpowered doesn't mean it is. --Pestilent Bob 11:48, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - Don't mess with flack jackets, if I weren't lazy I'd vote dupe.--Karekmaps?! 13:42, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Flak Jackets are not overpowered. Saying something does not make it true. --Saluton 15:47, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - Have you ever stood outside a building as a zombie? Without a flak jacket, all the damn trechies come around and knock you down like it's nothing. DON'T NERF FLAK JACKETS! Zombies have it hard enough as it is. --Hhal 16:11, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  8. Very Strong Kill - Flak jackets are not overpowered. If anything, they are underpowered: they assist zombies only marginally (try playing one and find out what I mean) and do nothing for survivors, except protect against PKing -- and even that is, again, only a small defense. Do. Not. Nerf. My. Kevlar. Vest.--WanYao 18:06, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  9. Strong Kill - this has worked fine for two years. I don't think it needs changing.--Jorm 18:09, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - Flak jackets are not overpowered at all.--Nikitis 19:25, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - As Nikitis. Flak jackets don't need a nerf. --Anotherpongo 19:59, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  12. DIE DIE DIE! - Flak jackets are fine the way they are. --Steakfish 00:12, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - No. No no no no no. NO! --The Grimch U! 02:16, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  14. Kill - Flak Jackets aren't the problem that is overpowered, because killing Zeds isn't the solution. Learn how the game works before attempting to fix it. --Karlsbad 06:51, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  15. Kill - Flak jackets are fine as they are, especially as this suggestions aids pkers a lot.Studoku 01:02, 4 September 2007 (BST)
  16. Kill - Sorry, I still don't think it's a good idea. Both survivors and zombies benefit from flak jackets, this change would harm a lot of players. -- Pavluk 23:48, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  17. Fething Die FLAKs are fine as they are, kill it.--Doctor Oberman 02:26, 4 September 2007 (BST)
  18. Kill - Mheh. Flackjackets are fine.-- Vista  +1  13:13, 4 September 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Nerfs are bad. --Sonny Corleone RRF DORIS CRF pr0n 16:17, 2 September 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam So, basically you bitched and whined on the discussion page, but did you even BOTHER to listen to what the dicussion said?--Pesatyel 04:33, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Much more better Nerfs in Peer Rejected. Besides, this overall nerf Zombies and boost PKers.--ShadowScope 06:26, 3 September 2007 (BST) EDIT: Now I think about it...making it easier to kill Zeds can help in clearing buildings but it could be used for attacking innocents zeds standing outside of the street and boosting surivior XP gaining. Rather, the main effect of the change WOULD be boosting Death Cultists, the true threat to Harmanity.--ShadowScope 06:28, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Spam - Leave my flak jacket alone. -- John RubinT! ZG FER 11:25, 3 September 2007 (BST)
  5. Whaa... -Flak jackets are overpowered? Now where did I leave the number for the mental hospital... --AlexanderRM 01:52, 6 September 2007 (BST)
