Vinetown is a suburb of Malton, located in the southeast of the city.
One of Malton’s lower-middle, working-class neighborhoods, Vinetown had fallen on hard times in the mid-1980s, when layoffs and shutdowns at local factories pushed it into an era of extreme poverty; with crime, joblessness and poverty hitting all-time highs. A slow turnaround had begun by the early ‘90s and, prior to the outbreak, Vinetown was undergoing a massive period of urban renewal.
Vinetown was named for a small but highly-regarded winemaking operation that flourished in the region in the early 20th Century, established under the auspices of a group called the Priory of St. Armand – based at St. John's Cathedral. Colwill Grove Select was prized by wine experts and a solid money-maker for the church’s charitable efforts before production was abandoned during World War II. St. John’s was one of two buildings that dominated the landscape of Vinetown in the days before the outbreak.
To the south, Mitchem Mall, built in the late ‘70s, adapted quickly to the region’s economic downturn – filling its vacated storefronts with space for local vendors. Catering to local artisans (alongside cheap rents) helped create a thriving arts and music community despite the area’s impoverished status. (It’s rumored that singer-songwriter Tom Waits wrote much of the material for his 1980 album “Heart Attack and Vine” while staying at the The Pilyer Hotel, located on Malton’s Vine Street, during a run of shows at Club Izzard and Club Quarman – which then catered to live music audiences.)

Mitchem Mall still holds against the horde. NW corner is breached, but not ruined, with a group of survivors standing in the corner to prevent a ransacking. Many more survivors in the other corners of the mall -- the MOB and friends are striking hard, but there are enough survivors to turn the tide if they move into the northwest to fight and defend the sector with their bodies. ----Damon Delacroix 14:12, 24 October 2008 (BST)
- NW corner of Mitchem Mall is ruined. Thank you the those last few breathers that were there, you were tasty. --Jczak 15:39, 24 October 2008 (BST)
The Northwest Corner of the Mall seems to be under constant siege. They broke in and took some of us down. Need urgent backup as there are over a dozen zombies outside and about 50 dead bodies, and the doors are only secured! Oh, and please be careful about the Bhore monument as a lot of zombies there are looking for revives and are not hostile. --Ragriav 12:07, 24 October 2008 (BST)
Update: Northwest corner is gone, with 32 zombies inside. The southwest corner has 1 zed in it, The northeast corner has 2 and the southeast has 1. There are atleast 50 humans inside, they look tasty...:) --Angusburger 16:57, 24 October 2008 (BST)
WE NEED URGENT BACKUP IN THE MALL! DO NOT RETREAT! WE HUMANS CAN STILL WIN!--Ragriav 22:03, 24 October 2008 (BST)

The Order of Barbah attack has begun Mitchem Mall. They've reduced the barriers to zero on the yapp building [86,63] the Club Quarman [87, 67] and have broken into the Mitchen Mall. They are feeding like crazy and are retreating back to the bhore monument for renewed attacks later. Time to strike at zombies there... --Bob 2008-10-23 19:00 (BST)
- --No. Bhore is a revive point. Please don't strike there unless you ID a zombie as a queue-clogging rotter. Better you use your energy maintaining the barricades in the mall. --Father Mayfield 21:40, 23 October 2008 (BST)
- --The zombies in Mitchem Mall have been repelled, but there are ten (well, nine and one which I just recently made a dead body =D ) outside the NW section of the mall
- The Militant Order of Barhah cannot be given entire credit for the break-ins and havoc created in Vinetown in the last 24 hours. There are at least two other zombie groups that have members that are attacking as well, with the Feral Undead among them.-- FLZ (MOB)
- --More zombies breaking in, NW corner looks down...10 zeds inside, they have taken down some gens/transmitters too. Rugh 04:44, 24 October 2008 (BST)

Just got a report that the Order of Barbah will attack Mitchem Mall. Requesting as much support as possible please. On other news, there are at least 20 zombies at the Bhore monument, most probably waiting for revives. --Ragriav 03:58, 23 October 2008 (BST)

Weekly scouting of all buildings complete (Check location pages for details). The MOB is now in Houldenbank, so vinetown is probably in for some serious conflict. Only the southernmost factory is currently ruined. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:26, 21 October 2008 (BST)

One zombie inside the SW corner of Mitchem Mall. Two zombies outside the NE corner of Mitchem Mall. Penny Heights has turned into a Red section, so we probably should expect more fighting in the coming days from overflowing in the South. However, please stick to the barricade plan :) --Ragriav 16:36, 18 October 2008 (BST)
October 16th
Please stop over-barricading the buildings. There are barely any zombies around, so there is no need for extremely heavy barricading everywhere. In fact, this works contrary to the survivor cause because the few zombies that ARE there attack those survivors who get stuck outside (like me!) because those inside over-cade! Even more buildings are in the "heavily barricaded" area than what it's supposed to be in the barricade plan, so that is not an excuse. --Ragriav 22:11, 16 October 2008 (BST)
- I fully agree. People over-barricade either to be funny (which its not), or because the survivors believe most of the false reports of combat in the surrounding areas, so they over-barricade. Please follow the Vinetown/Barricade Plan. It is here for a reason.--Omega360 04:58, 17 October 2008 (BST)

Every building now manually scouted. In addition to the ruination around Monck auto repair, Club Atthill and Club Threadgould are ruined. Check individual locations for their barricade satus, and fuel requirements. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:19, 14 October 2008 (BST)

In depth scouting shows that the far North East of the suburb is being ruined by a few zombies in the area around Monck Auto Repair. Apart from this the main problems facing vinetown are its vast number of unfueled gennies, and the bhore RP filling up with casualties from the MOB's attack to the south. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 17:42, 13 October 2008 (BST)

The Suburb is looking great at the moment. Both RP's are up and running, about 85% of the buildings have power and are 'Caded, and the Mall is at EHB on all corners. Didn't see any zeds on the streets, which may or may not be a good thing. Other than that, Vinetown is in great shape.--Omega360 01:52, 13 October 2008 (BST)

Approximately 1 zombie on the streets. Mitchem Mall and 7 of the 9 remaining Tactical Resource Points are fully powered, alongside most of the suburb. A single Police Dept. and Auto Repair were without power. Safe. --Funt Solo QT 16:58, 26 September 2008 (BST)
September 24th
Vinetown continues to look largely free and clear from big zed hits. Fighting over in Crowbank has centered around the Mydleham NT/Burt Square Police Department area. Vinetown and Four Corners-based groups including M.E.R.C.Y., M.D.K and the 41st reported active in a back-and-forth fight for the area.--Damon Delacroix 16:17, 24 September 2008 (BST)
September 14th
Little to no organized undead activity. RP's clear. Resource buildings all under survivor control, with power restored to a good portion of the suburb. Some intermittent undead activity still noted in The Four Corners area, just over the border in Crowbank and Edgecombe around Peter General Hospital and the Maver Building(though even this seems to be diminishing).--Sister Rita 17:22, 14 September 2008 (BST)
September 7th
Light zed activity, but zed scouts regularly sitting on Mitchem Mall for the past few days. --TeknoMerk 03:23, 8 September 2008 (BST)
