Vinetown is a suburb of Malton, located in the southeast of the city.
One of Malton’s lower-middle, working-class neighborhoods, Vinetown had fallen on hard times in the mid-1980s, when layoffs and shutdowns at local factories pushed it into an era of extreme poverty; with crime, joblessness and poverty hitting all-time highs. A slow turnaround had begun by the early ‘90s and, prior to the outbreak, Vinetown was undergoing a massive period of urban renewal.
Vinetown was named for a small but highly-regarded winemaking operation that flourished in the region in the early 20th Century, established under the auspices of a group called the Priory of St. Armand – based at St. John's Cathedral. Colwill Grove Select was prized by wine experts and a solid money-maker for the church’s charitable efforts before production was abandoned during World War II. St. John’s was one of two buildings that dominated the landscape of Vinetown in the days before the outbreak.
To the south, Mitchem Mall, built in the late ‘70s, adapted quickly to the region’s economic downturn – filling its vacated storefronts with space for local vendors. Catering to local artisans (alongside cheap rents) helped create a thriving arts and music community despite the area’s impoverished status. (It’s rumored that singer-songwriter Tom Waits wrote much of the material for his 1980 album “Heart Attack and Vine” while staying at the The Pilyer Hotel, located on Malton’s Vine Street, during a run of shows at Club Izzard and Club Quarman – which then catered to live music audiences.)

Contrary to popular belief, none of the groups listed as dead are in fact dead. Reinstating things to status quo now...--Dedling 13:31, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Most resource buildings powered and barricaded. Some particularly tenacious zeds continue gnawing on the lumber, and break-ins are being reported. But, while not at its peak, Vinetown is seeing survivors repopulate the area, hunkering down for what promises to be a lovely St. Valentine's Day. Downgrading to "moderate."--Damon Delacroix 06:17, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

As the RRF horde moves on, Vinetown is very rapidly repopulating with survivors. Multiple safehouses are barricaded, revive points are down to single digits and there are even a scattered few resource buildings powered. As was noted in the Feb. 7 military report, even when the horde was still in Vinetown, several buildings remained powered. All of that, and the number of zeds on the streets, definitely do not qualify for "very dangerous." Conservatively downgrading to "dangerous," as the horde in Pegton still may pose a threat to survivors the northern reaches of the suburb.--Damon Delacroix 04:50, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

25.96 MHz: "... can see nearly a hundred on the streets of Vinetown ... mostly just small groups ... several buildings with power ... most of the buildings are ruined ... Mitchem Mall is looking wrecked ..."--Ryan Green 00:01, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

As a result of the unexpected popularity of the new spring collections at Mitchem Mall, large queues of shoppers killed in the crush have formed at Bhore Monument. Partially consumed consumers are advised to head to Pegton if they wish to have their bodies (and store card credit) reactivated.--Mallrat 15:23, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

The vanguard of the RRF's Gore Corps, including Lord Moloch, briefly broke into the Mitchem Mall's SE corner but was ejected after flagrant contravention of the Mall's House Rules against brain consumption in public places. Bloodstains are still in evidence and power is down in this section, but the rest of the Mall is open for business as usual. Shoppers are asked to be alert in case Gore Corps members attempt to vandalise the Mall or damage generators while in a revived state. Zombies are welcome to window-shop but are politely requested to refrain from killing and eating other patrons.--Mallrat 15:16, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Casual shoppers visiting Mitchem Mall from other suburbs should be aware that there has been a marked increase in violent crimes committed by survivors against other survivors. Keep your handbag or rucksack secure, hold on tight to your shotgun, and note that strict anti-flatulence Mall by-laws are being enforced by the Clean Air Reclamators.--Mallrat 14:46, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
