20071208 New Strain

Heretic144 18:33, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion type
A zombie buff

Suggestion scope
Zombies

Suggestion description
All viruses mutate, for better or for worse. Those mutations that prove beneficial end up becoming more successful and multiplying. The zombie virus is no different.

Some zombies have begun carrying a more potent strain of virus that is much harder to treat.

Mechanics

This skill would require Infectious Bite as a prerequisite.

After successfully biting a survivor, the option to "bite harder" (or more appropriate flavor text) would appear. This option would cost 5 more AP. (This option would appear in the same way that "revive this specimen" is currently used for reviving)

The result would be a normal infection, except that it could not be cured except in a powered hospital by a survivor with Surgery. Mind you, normal healing could still restore HP, but would not remove the infection.

Possible Inplications

This suggestion would greatly increase the tactical value of Hospitals, since they are the only places the new strain of infection could be treated. Meanwhile, survivors with such an infection could still survive, by finding FAKs and temporarily staying alive that way. Zombies would experience a resurgence, bringing us closer to a 50/50 population split.

Keep Votes

  1. Author Keep --Heretic144 18:34, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Keep Just to be different. - Pardus 02:41, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep Overpowered in favor of zombies for a change. - Grant 01:24, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Overpowered, especially considering the time taken to get from a revive point to hospital. Also permanantly cripples anyone without free running.Studoku 18:52, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Kill - I just don't like it. It would be overpowering (Think of a mall raid with this), and- Ya know? That reason is good enough. I'm gonna go do something else. --Druuuuu Ocular 20:10, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
How overpowered, I can now infect 8 people instead of 50, but wait, they have to go 3 blocks to a powered hospital, what a horrendous fate.--Karekmaps?! 23:17, 8 December 2007 (UTC) Non-author RE struck. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 19:52, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Weak Kill - Makes surgery more interesting, but would disrupt the game too much. If you made it so that a FAK used in any powered building could cure it, or gave field FAKs a certain chance to cure it (say, 40%), or both, that'd be very workable. Neat idea though. --Pgunn 20:20, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  4. Kill - Too powerful. I can imagine one or two zombies using this wouldn't be too much of a problem, but, say, a whole mall raid? It'd be over in minutes. --Shrapnelwolf 20:22, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  5. Kill- As above. --Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 20:56, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  6. Kill - As with all the other kill voters, it is too overpowered! --Waterspark2 04:59 p.m., 8 December 2007 (EST)
  7. Kill - Overpowered. Overdone, too, but not worthy of spam. --Private Mark 22:05, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  8. Kill - Survivors would fall like a plague. All the zeds need to do then after infecting mall after mall is to go for hospitals and NT's. Malton would soon be theirs! --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 22:07, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  9. Kill - Overpowered. --Howard Bentley 23:12, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  10. kill - Underpowered, as Karek. --TriPolar 00:18, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  11. Kill - If Urban Dead made me choose only a few skills, this would not be one of them. Underpowered. Not a bad suggestion, it just needs to be stronger. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:24, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  12. Kill - sorry, the limit to hospitals and someone with surgery happening to be there with an fak would just suck hard. To elboarate, the hospitals in your suburb are ruined, your a new player. Well now your ethier completly screwed, or you stop playing until they are fixed. No it can easily become almost an autokill in many situations, and the boost to ruining hospitals would be overwhelming.--Zach016 01:14, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  13. Kill The goal is to make Zs more fun so people keep playing, not make more Survivors dead... And besides, the whole "Infection Cured by Other Survivor with Surgery in Powered Hospital" has been suggested many a time before... ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 04:41, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  14. Kill - Don't require special skills or buildings to get rid of infections. Hospitals are already important because they have lots of FAKs. Human/Zombie ratio does not need to be exactly 50/50 for the game to be fun. --Ms.Panes 10:08, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  15. Kill - Inappropriate, considering that killed survivors can still revive at points. It just makes it more frustrating for them. Unless one day there is a game mechanic for zeds to directly benefit from infecting, I don't see where this can go. –Ariedartin Talk 06:09, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
  16. Kill - Something like this has been suggested before, but I'm too lazy to find a link. See below for other justifications that I agree with. --Ryiis 16:25, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
  17. Kill - Whenever "it could not be cured" appears anywhere it is a bad thing. Overpowered. --Vandurn 14:35, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
  18. Kill - Both underpowered and overpowered. Biting takes too much AP and being curable only in a powered hospital by a player with surgery is too restrictive. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 19:47, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - absurdly weak, everyone that's saying overpowered is a brain dead idiot, 5 AP to infect when it can be cured with 1 is overpowered in surivors favor, infection that takes 10 AP to deal 10 damage that a survivor can heal in 1 AP is overpowered in the survivors favor, and getting into a building to infect a survivor which takes over 60AP and can be cured with 1-5AP is overpowered in the survivors favor. If you get killed by infection you either don't have free running or deserve death, all this form of infection would do is make it cost 5 times as much for a zombie to do nothing. Oh yes, and all those bitching about it requiring a hospital, learn to play the game and get out of your malls once in a while, resource buildings are there for a reason.--Karekmaps?! 23:13, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Spam - stupid numbers. And you used the zombie:survivor ratio as an argument. It's always going to be uneven in favour of survivors. When you watch the movies - which one do you want to be? The mindless zombie or the gun-toting survivor? --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 09:33, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn't call zombies mindless, they seem to be intellegent enough to outsmart the guntoting survivors in most zombie movies...remember day of the dead? Bob the zombie killed a human with a gun!!! Dawn of the Dead remake? The zombies took advantage of the fact that the mall dwellers where morons! Night of the living dead? The humans turned on eachother, the zombies didnt even need to do that much! But, however, I agree with your point, therefore: --Happy doodle 10:10, 9 December 2007 (UTC) Non-author RE struck. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 19:52, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Spam Stupid idea --Happy doodle 10:10, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  4. Spam - As Karek. --Nikitis 12:24, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  5. Spam/Dupe - although it was called otherways, there was already a "infection that only surgery heals" suggestion. i might look for link later. anyways it's spammy --~~~~ [talk] 15:08, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  6. Spam - as above. --Pavluk A! E! 22:17, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
  7. Above...and keep going until you reach the first kill vote. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 11:22, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
