Formatting

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else see the huge gap in between the introduction paragraph and the table of contents? And if it's not just me, might someone know how to fix it? - Goron40 00:14, 26 December 2006 (EST)

Also, if news gets updated they should be altered accordingly. If the mall is breached, just say it has been breached and remove whatever was said before. It just clogs the page if we have lots of "UPDATE: This was posted 5 minutes after previous edit". Try to keep it clean, the page is clogged as it is. --Gethsemani 06:38, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I see a concerted effort to suck any life out of the Wiki. Lots of updates are the last atmospheric thing left. I would kindly redirect you to a certain episode in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, where a live journal kept by the dwarves of Moria is the powerful witness of their ultimate demise. Welcome to learning that there are actual human beings playing your opponents - humans who also have just as much right to use wiki as you and your side/faction/group. It's a shared resource; best to keep it open and accessible to everyone. Could you please at least try to be civil? Thank you. As of atmosphere, this game is played by two factions which would gladly genocide the other one if they could. I'd rather see history through their eyes, and not through some dull lenses that suck out all the action and emotion. Your pick is the the latter (though a bit hypocritical, Barhah Mall & all), my choice is the former. I woud like to point out to Bluetigers that that is why you have a personal page and the ability to write journal pages here and on other sites on the internet. While I do agree with your sentiment that we should keep atmosphere, the wiki pages are not the place for that. These pages are meant to offer information about locations, groups, items and what not in the game and should be treated as serious attempts at conveying said information. At this point, there are around 300 zombies in the mall, i think its safe to say unless a co-ordinated strike happens to take it back, Caigar has fallen. Zerging complaints

What I would suggest, if you feel people are zerging is contact Kevan (he does listen sometimes, as long as it's serious) or you could always report them to Zerg Hunters Unlimited as they are dedicated to taking down people who are zergers. Don't just pick on level one newbies though! How would you feels as a level 1 charcter when people were going ZOMG ZERG with no proof except your next to another level 1 charcter who joined the day before. Peace out.   • To be fair, it's perfectly OK for people to play multiple characters in separate suburbs / quadrants of Malton. Of course, there are currently no penalties for playing multiple alts defensely: healing, reviving, barricading, etc. I doubt Caiger would be as tough if anti-zerging rules applied to both defenders and attackers. Some suggestions for surviving the siege

One thing I noticed at Bale, and something I'm noticing here, is that not everyone is on the same page about mall defense. I figure it would be a good idea to have a section in the article, or at least here on the discussion page, to lay down some suggestions for keeping the dead at bay. For the sake of example, here are a few of my own:

  • Your first priority is barricading. If the barricades are below Very Heavy at a minimum, shore them up before doing anything else--even before killing zombies already inside.
  • Don't bother leaving the mall to kill zombies. It takes almost a full day's AP to kill one zombie, which can stand up and attack again with no more than 15 AP and often only 1. Your AP are put to much better use healing survivors, reviving fallen comrades, and most importantly, barricading.
  • Let the entry points go. Survivors with free running can still use an entry point with open doors and 50 zombies inside. Those zombies still can't get in the mall.

Others can add their own, or remove mine if I'm dead wrong about something. This is mostly for the benefit of people who haven't been in a siege before. We could also use this space to log barricade strength, survivors inside, and zombies outside of each corner. X1M43 05:40, 30 Jan 2006 (GMT)

I also noticed that the front page says to combat revive. Why? If you do, you've just wasted a syringe and chances are that zombie is either a) going to jump out of a window and join back in the fight in a few minutes or b) free run inside and PK you. Never heard the song before myself, but like the lyrics. All in favor of it.

I'd like to suggest that, in addition to JT's proposal for "Official Mall Defence Theme Song" up there, we also have this little composition which I kinda made up myself, w/ a little help from the Beatles, as an "Unofficial Alternative Mall Defence Theme Song." While, sadly, I am not at present a Caiger defender myself at the moment, I feel this one could be used in the "lighter moments." Without further ado, here's my humble submission:

Praise it, criticize it, or whatever; I just thought I'd put it up for other people to take a look and see what they think. Question regarding entry points

Do we really need them? Why not just let the zombies take the warehouse and library, the cades will always be low that way and people will be able to use the building as entry pointd and we won't have to waste manpower on them (so we will have more people watching the mall)?


I agree. Even this guy agrees with me (which should be the other way round ;) ). Holding Pagram is nothing more than a constant bleeding of AP and defenders which are needed more on the mall itself. Plus, you are simply not able to reach VS+2 like recommended. All players in there are active, everyone baricades up, and so they are at heavy every now and then. The fact that the baricades are supposed to be at VS is a very heavy burden for the defenders of Pagram (and other so-called entrance points), because the zeds can bring them down quicker and thus easier unnoticed by some to many of the defenders. The Mall Defence Manifesto is a very sensible paper, and simply too good to ignore. And in it it says "let the entry points go". We only need the Mall and the NT building (forgot its name) for defence. Everything else is just too costly, especially when the numbers of attackers come close to those of defenders. -- Quacki, 7 Feb 2006

Caiger Mall desperately needs entry points, that is, buildings that are not heavily barricaded. Official entryways to Caiger Mall should be kept Wide Open. An official Caiger Mall Entryway should be WIDE OPEN. Not lightly barricaded, not very strongly barricaded, not VS+2, but WIDE OPEN. If you barricade an entryway, even a little bit, a newbie or exhausted character dashes in there to sleep. Pretty soon a dozen naives are sleeping in there, and it is barricaded up. The spraypaint changes. Now it's an ego thing -- defend our house! When the horde attacks, a dozen barricaders click into action at once, and now the entryway is at Extremely Heavily Barricaded. Stop the dying!
The official entryway should be wide open. Declare one useless building to be zombie party central. Shatter its barricades into nothing. DNA-scan the zombies as they gnaw on furniture. Mall-shoppers run harmlessly past them. When the Free Running entryway is kept Wide Open, the only people who can block your character are death cultists or griefers, and they'll have to work hard and waste a lot of AP to do so.

Zombies with brain rot. taking them out quicker with a list of them?

Can we Set up a zombie's around caigar mall with brain rot system? you CAN attack certain Zombies with brain rot by just adding them to your contact. then revive or kill them. so if you find one with brain rot you intention is to kill it. it will make revive's easier. question is. if you DNA Scan or try to revive a brain rotter those it give the link to it's profile? because then we can set up a list of brain rotters and make revive's a dead lot easier!

Retake RiddleyBank

If and When we win the siege, we will hae amassed the larget group of survivors in one place. I propose we take the fight to the zombies. March into RiddleyBank and drive them out. Show the Zombies who runs this town. I leave the floor open to discussion on this idea.

What, why wait until we win? We've got alts, don't we? They're not going to be doing much good in the mall, thanks to the new anti-zerg system, so why not send them en-mass to Ridleybank? The Gingerbread Men, at less than 30 strong, managed to barricade the whole suburb up to EH in just a couple days (granted, the zeds managed to debarricade down to wide open and kill them all in about the same amount of time). They never took ridley, they just barricaded it. The thing you harmanz have to understand is that you can't "evict" zambahs, you can only tire them, or bore them until they leave. It's unlikely that the RRF will ever leave so it's pointless. Also the RRF is on excursion right now so we couldn't care less about Ridley/barhahville until we've finished our tour. Hey, there ARE zergers in the mall. I have been in the mall and have seen them. The mall people have frequently been clashing with these cheaters. They have told them to leave and a few have ejected the ones that were 100% proven zergers. I understand you guys wanting proof and I do agree that there needs to be proof before saying these people are absolutely zergers. However, you must know that a lot of discussion goes on in the UD Forums; this is a good place to gather more information. Proof does go both ways though. Saying you can vouch for someone doesn't mean they are in the clear. Also note, they are not loosing. You may want to make that more clear as I didn't take your comments that way. I took them as you can "confirm" that those two individuals were not zergers, yet there was no more information regarding as to the reasons for your confirmation. That is pretty much all I have to say. I don't visit the Wiki much and just happened to get to this page because of the zerging issue. Murphalicious and MurphaliciousFP are classic Zergs, very similiar names, created 95 minutes apart. That is interesting that the guy that Flaunted "confirmed" as a non-zerger was in fact zerging. The guy confessed and I find it very interesting. While I certainly don't condone zerging at all (and if I had the ammo and AP to spare, I'd be shooting those accounts myself), I daresay it's a little unrealistic to think that out of the 500+ zombies attacking the mall, NONE of them are zerg accounts. I play the characters Haly and Hally and apologize for the "zerging" at Caiger Mall. I've only been playing since a couple weeks before the seige and didn't realize the practice was against the etiquette of the game. Hally will be moved across the city ASAP, but Haly will stay and help with the defense of Caiger. I humbly suggest that other folks who are using slight variations of the same name and "zerging" may also be unaware that they are doing something wrong. Most of us are probably at least clever enough to realize that we should pick completely different names if we're planning to violate the spirit of the game. Xenomrph, with the new anti zerging countermeasures, Zombie zergs are all but completely useless. Not so with human barricade drones, and since each one can waste around 250 zombie ap on average, and close potentially large breaches (like the Murphalicious zergs did), i would suggest that human zerging is the bigger threat. Haly, there is a section in the FAQ dealing with Zerging, so you cannot claim ignorance. Do not have your characters interact. Zombies do read profiles, and we can put two and two together.
Cheaters are not welcome at the mall, and typically all accounts of the cheater in question are evicted (Sometimes with an execution coming in first, if the person doesnt get out fast enough). I would ask you to remove your Haly account from the mall, as you cheated, and as such have no right to continue there. --Grim s 23:26, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Care to elaborate as exactly where to find a detailed description of the anti zerging measures, and how do they affect primarely the zombies? Because, as far as I know, the only real measure implemented is the 160 hit limit, and I just can't see how that would affect the zombies more than the humans. --Coco 04:22, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)
The new anti-zerging measures are described in, of all places, the Bugs section, here. Basically, characters operating within a certain (unspecified) distance of one another will find their hit percentages dropping. It's all been speculated that the "Bad FAKs" some characters have been encountering are a similar anti-cooperation measure. Now, zombie zergs attacking the barricades would suffer from the reduction to hit chances, but since barricading at low levels never fails, human barricade drones would not be penalized particularly.

ok.. now im bewing pked... which isnt supposed to be fucking happening. i am only atacking caiger because peopel call it invincible. i want the peopel who sepnd all there tiem there to prove that they cna call it invincibl;e without help from alot of groups.

There are, at this time, 94 Zombies in the NW Corner, with cades unknown. There are also 2 Zombies in the SE Corner with cades at QSB. Zombie incursions have been regular today, but as of this point have all been repulsed. Over 300 Zombies continue to stand outside the mall itself. I have found the solution to everybody's problems. Brace yourselves, and take cover zeds. you cannot defeat the assault that is coming for you. It will be everlasting and the answer to all our problems and end all zerging across Darvall Heights and Chudleyton. The answer is River Tactics Zmobies have no use for "territory". Whatever will they do with a mall? Now, i understand the need to retake Caiger Mall as a Survivors Will Live Forever, so until we can retake it, we must employ River Tactics.   • I don't see any other suggestions for application of River Tactics. And at the time I wrote that, the mall was crumbling under the weight of the zmobies, not to mention when I arrived there were less than 50 survivors, all of which were reported to be inactive. Let's not forget the Survivor trait of "surviving by not retreating", which worked wonders. Didn't it? River Tactics could have worked, had we had another day, a little luck, some quick feet and quick responses to it. Sadly, we didn't have any of those.   • A Little graffiti goes a long way. In fact, the only way I heard about this was when I got on to my account this morning, who was at Bale Mall and I read the radio, and it was screaming Caiger has fallen and Goatsniper was all like "zmobies winning because they are dancing and having fun, not worrying about living." There are already several survivor groups on the case, and many more are considering helping out. Caiger will rise again, it is as much a symbol of what survivors can accomplish as it is an attractive stronghold. Remember, for over year, Caiger was uncontested as a Human Stronghold. But just like the rulers of Gondor, the defenders grew weak, they began questioning if the zombie threat was real and then shacknews struck. When the defenders slumbered and dreamt of the future. Caiger shall rise again! We owe it to all those who held it for over a year, we owe it to every single survivor in Malton to once more erect the bastion of hope!
