Basic Info:

  • Malls are an excellent place to find a wide range of items; the only major items that cannot be found here are revivification syringes and fuel cans. As such, Malls are frequently used as safehouses and fortresses by survivors. Zombies often check inside (when they can get in), and organized zombie groups sometimes lay siege to them. They are listed as a Tactical Resource Point.
Ackland-mall-logo.jpg

Ackland Mall is a four-block shopping mall in the suburb of Havercroft and was the scene of the Battle of the Bear Pit, The Ides Of March, Second Siege of Ackland Mall, Black Christmas Siege and the most recent War of the North West Frontier. This is also the only shopping mall with a Goth Clothes store. Lastly, this mall is the location of the tomb of Ron Burgundy, leader of men and scourge of Wes Mantooth.

Nearby NecroTech Buildings

There are no NecroTech Buildings in Havercroft, nor are there any in the neighboring suburb of Lerwill Heights.

The NecroTech Buildings within ten blocks of the mall, listed from nearest to farthest, are:

  1. The Stagg Building in Lukinswood (26, 47; distance 6-7 W, 2-3 S)
  2. The Nix Building in Barrville (40, 43; distance 7-8 E, 1-2 N)
  3. The Brennand Building in Shore Hills (30, 52; distance 2-3 W, 8-9 S)
  4. The Daubeney Building in East Becktown (26, 35; distance 6-7 W, 9-10 N)
  5. The Eagan Building in Barrville (43, 46; distance 10-11 E, 1-2 S)

Communication

Maltel.gif

The radio frequency for Ackland Mall is 27.50 MHz.

The North-East corner of Ackland Mall contains the mobile phone mast for the suburb of Havercroft. It is important to note that of all of the Malls and Forts, this is the only one with a phone mast. Thusly, holding the NE corner of the building is of vital importance to humans. In this respect, only the Herman Building is similar in being of both strategic and tactical value.

Sadly, this tactical advice was invalidated with the large buildings update making malls one building 2x2 large and internal defense is nearly impossible.

To update the mast status, please update the Ackland Mall Danger Report and alter the mast_status line based on the condition of the North-East corner of the mall.

Ackland Mall is in total ruin. 100+ zombies inside, remaining survivors have been eaten. We've lost Ackland Mall, a valuable resource point in the middle of a danger zone. I'd like to thank all groups for standing against the undead menace. The seige lasted almost a month, 29 days. User: Leroy Jankens 11:31, 16 August 2008 (USA EST)

Ackland mall suffered a major attack less than 30 minutes ago. the barricades were down in the southwest corner, which is normal. but the barricades couldn't be repaired quickly enough and thus zombies were oozing into all corners of the mall. Refreshing the page in a period of 5 seconds, the number of zombies in each corner grew by 3-5. Another refresh and there were 3 dead. All quadrants have destroyed generators and transmitters. 2 out of the 4 are still at extremely heavily barricaded, but probably not for long. I am advising survivors to evacuate soon, I don't think we can hold out for the next few days. As of this edit, 10:00 PM USA EST time, there are 61 zombies inside, not outside, the mall. User: Leroy Jankens 15:23, 15 August 2008 (USA EST)

Today marks the 4th full week of the siege. There has been a considerable amount of resistance since the first day survivors siezed control of Ackland Mall on July 18th, and since then numbers of the zombie horde have reached upwords to 120. Members from the horde seem to be Feral, and recently spotted RRF members. The zombie guest of honor is none other than the creator himself, Kevan with zombie Bub ID #11. Breakins are frequent but survivor response is quick. All survivors are asked to ASSIST in helping the resistance against the zombie force during this epic battle. The size of the horde outside Ackland Mall continues to grow. Thus far survivors inside still outnumber the undead, though casualties are becoming more frequent as the zombified foe take advantage of coordinated attacks on the barricades. Various death cultist activities have also been noted, possibly in support of the siege. The Dunell Hills Police Department has joined the fray upon request from allies, and have also made contact with other friendly groups to swell the ranks of the defenders. Sketchy reports that 'Bub Sherman' has been sighted nearby in the horde are currently unverified, but not unlikely... Ezekiel UK 15:39, 14 August 2008 (BST)

Exactly 1 hour and 1 minute ago we received a distress call over a metagame medium alerting to a zombie break-in in spacial grid 32, 45, Ackland Mall Southwest Corner. Activating ourselves, we began to follow emergency combat revive procedures; these were ineffective, with limited AP. 16 zombies were inside, the number slowly growing and cades becoming impossible. The number of zombies totaled almost 100 outside and they are seeping inside. <zom>It's not going to be a skipper day for us all, wot wot, put away the kettle and bring out the weapons, looks like these ruffians have brought some friends from the south side of town. I say we give them whats-for, but I have a feeling they're going to be giving us a run for money. Straighten out your top hats, gents (available in the goth store, Southeast corner) and let's put on a good show!</zom>.

Recent reports from our allies indicate there are 99 dead bodies outside, with a large percentage recognized as allies in the Ackland Mall defense coalition. End report. AnonBorgTech001 18:33, 13 August 2008 (BST)

August 12th

It was an average morning at Ackland Mall. Axes High were at the mall hardware shop sharpening their blades, Crimson Clan were at the pizza parlor debating tatics and /zom/ were enjoying glasses of scotch around the tomb of Ron Burgundy. Everything seemed fine and dandy until around 10:00 AM (PST)

Local AMS member Tarumigan Gistarai was patroling the South West side of the mall when he heard some suspicious noises from the barricades. He was in shock as the sound of breaking wood echoed throughout Ackland mall and several zombies simoutaneously burst inside. Quickly he barked over his radio, "We need reinforcements at the SW of the mall now!. It seems some zed's have gotten smart and are using X:00 tactics, looks like members from the The Ridleybank Resistance Front." The game was afoot and the survivors sprung into action. It was a glorious battle as the survivors fought dearly for their mall and lives. Axes were swung, shotguns were unloaded, tophats were bloodied and Speels stabbed a guy with a trident! In the aftermath among the many zombie and human corpses, Ackland stood strong. The barricades were brought back to full and the wounded tended to. --Karec 23:30, 12 August 2008 (BST)

August 1st

It's the dawn of a new month, and the Ackland survivors are still holding the mall strong and sturdy against a horde of over a hundred. All mall quads lit and EHB most of the time, likewise for its adjacent buildings. --Aeon17x 13:12, 1 August 2008 (BST)

Less than 80 zombies outside the SW quad now. Break-ins are becoming a less frequent occurrence, as a newly sprayed message appeared on the walls outside the targeted quad saying "CHANGE OF PLAN: Go to Tompson mall - The Dead". --Aeon17x 04:47, 2 August 2008 (BST)

There are around 65 zeds in the SW corner of Ackland Mall, when I was there today. The lights are still on. Some of the surrounding buildings are ruined, with a few zombies wondering around. I am unsure of the conditions inside. -- Samiam112 10:23 (GMT), 24 2008

There are 29 zeds inside the NE corner of Ackland Mall, according to this fellow. He encourages his comrades with allegiance to the undead to feast heartily upon the gray matter of those inside who consider breathing oxygen integral to their continued survival.--10:16, 10 July 2008 (BST)

As of now, only the SW Corner remains standing. -- Mordac the Refuser 16:16, 10 July 2008 (BST)
The mall is completely ruined thanks to the Ridleybank Resistance Front and many other of my fellow undead comrades. The whole building will be ruined within the hour or so...This is a bad day for survivors and a good day for those zombas that feasted upon the bra!nz of those tasty survivors that were helpless against the oncoming horde. I ate heavily and so did many other of my fellow comrades. VIVA LA ZOMBAS! --Barney Hellfax 18:53, 10 July 2008 (BST)
The whole mall is now officially ruined. -- Mordac the Refuser 19:31, 10 July 2008 (BST)

July 8th

Mall shoppers are warned that 60+ zombies have gathered outside the barricades. While no official action has been taken, survivors might like to stock up on syringes for a fight, or get ready to evacuate the suburb. Zombies might want to get ready for a meal, or get ready to chase some fast food. --Russell Oakley 01:43, 9 July 2008 (BST)

Lights are out inside the mall, courtesy of what looks like zombie spies. Considering that the surrounding area is crawling with the undead and that attacks on barricades have resumed, it seems that Ackland may be in for another fight. Curly the Stooge 9:15, 1 July 2008 (CST)

June 10th

"Fight for our home, yo!" might become the ironic and humorous commentary of this battle (it was spraypainted on one of the walls inside Ackland Mall by a survivor refusing to retreat). The effort by AMS and the Crimson Clan to evacuate the Mall failed miserably despite the fact that the Mallgoers had two full days to make good an escape to a more defensible position. Confusion was spread on the radio waves by death-cultists and by survivors who simply had no idea what a LUE assault is like. In the end, the majority remained obediently in mall and were eaten as they slept. The battle was over before it had even begun. Tarumigan 2:06, 10 June 2008 (EST)

  • At 2:49 P.M. EST, the final survivor in Ackland fell to the LUE horde, bringing the mall completely into their hands. Not long later, the final quadrant was ruined. JoJoTrue 20:15, 10 June 2008 (BST)

LUE has arrived, ruining the NW quad of Ackland in about ten minutes. The sweet smell of barhah fills the air. Or maybe that's just my air freshener.--Panthera 01:31, 10 June 2008 (BST)

The majority of Ackland's population failed to heed the evacuation warnings posted two days ago and have paid with their lives.--Tarumigan 08:39, 10 June 2008 (BST)

June 08th

There are reports of LUE zombies attacking Auston Auto Repair. If the reports are true looks like the first of the are starting to arrive. Anyone wishing to evacuate may need to get a move on.--Doctor Oberman 15:49, 9 June 2008 (BST)

Hello to you too.--Doctor Oberman 01:28, 10 June 2008 (BST)

June 07th

Ackland Mall Security confirms the evacuation order for Ackland Mall and all surrounding structures. We take this action in light of the sudden and catastrophic destruction of Caiger Mall in the north by the LUE zombie horde. AMS and allied detachments are already in motion to secure a secure place to bunker down. Evacuate to Pittman NT in Shore Hills as dictated on the radio. Tarumigan

Also a note to anyone listening to radio broadcasts. DO NOT listen to anyone telling you to stay and defend the mall. They are attempting to sabotage our best chance at fighting LUE. Just get to Pittman immediately and restock from the nearby resoruce buildings around it. LUE could be here today or tomorrow.--Doctor Oberman 16:12, 8 June 2008 (BST)
Unfortunately, some of the broadcasts asking the residents not to leave are coming from zombie deathcultists. One made just such a broadcast right in front of me and was affiliated with the Undeadites. Others are being made by trenchcoaters who appear to have never fought LUE before. It seems to have worked. Virtually no humans appear to have evacuated the Mall. If LUE strikes Ackland, there will be a massive slaughter. We'd like to remind those who are currently taking potshots at AMS and other groups that we didn't call an evacuation on a whim. LUE took out Caiger Mall in a single lightning strike. They ARE in our neighborhood, and if some survivors believe they can fight a good defense from a four-room building against a two-hundred strong zombie horde that attacks as one group, then they're welcome to show the world how the big boys do battle. I won't hold my breath. --Tarumigan 12:25, 9 June 2008 (EST)

There is now one zed inside the NW part of the mall, the cades are at HB and there is lot of people inside. The zed should be "dead" soon.--Jamie Cantwel3 Talk 17:12, 12 May 2008 (BST)

There is an eerie quiet as all that can be heard is the survivors inside. There are no major zombie threats with the suburb. Is this the lull before the storm. .--Backlash13 Talk 17:55 12 May 2008 (GMT)

May 9th

Drawn by Ron Burgundy's latest Cunning Plan, the forces of humanity have arrived at Ackland in glory and power for an amazing show of class. Some twits, however, are impersonating the Crimson Clan and trying to get the survivors to shoot at each other instead of Uncle Zeddy. --Tarumigan 6:56, 9 May 2008 (BST)

May 8th

Ackland Mall is back in survivor hands, and the war-banners of many groups flutter above the barricades. As we wish to document this for posterity, chime in. Ackland Mall Security is still alive and kicking, and inside. --Tarumigan 11:23, 8 May 2008 (BST)

This is Tarumigan Gistarai, local on-site commander. All forces, it's every man for himself! Get the hell out of here, any way you can, as quick as you can! Fall back from the Mall! Fall back! Guerrilla warfare tactics! --Tarumigan 11:23, 2 May 2008 (BST)

May 1th

The Dead have returned to pummel Ackland AGAIN, making this...what? The second or third visit in a month? Oh, and the on-scene AMS Commander was first attacked by a The Dead deathcultist and then again by zombies. It shows how effective we are! --Tarumigan 08:21, 1 May 2008 (BST)

Don't think it will be safe for long, tried to cade with now luck and even killed a zed. The malls got like 5 or more zeds inside; I could be held if the kids who run the place get home from school in time to save it. I don't think they will.--Jamie Cantwel3 Talk 15:38, 1 May 2008 (BST)

It's actually kind of intriguing. I know for a fact that other Malls have larger populations and present better targets. Some of them are relatively close to us. Yet The Dead keep hammering this particular Mall as soon as it shows any signs of life whatsoever. --Tarumigan 11:41, 1 May 2008 (BST)

Unfortunately, the Mall may not remain in the hands of the Acklanders for very long. Drawn by the MIC report that Ackland was retaken, The Dead have arrived with over a hundred other zombies and have placed Ackland under siege. --Tarumigan 4:24, 25 April 2008 (EST)

Ackland Mall was reclaimed on April 19 by a coalition consisting of Ackland Mall Security, the DEM, the MCDU, the Crimson Clan, and the U.S. Army Infantry. Advance elements of the Crimson and AMS forces arrived in Havercroft before the fall of Marven. --Tarumigan 11:37, 21 April 2008 (EST)

The four quads of Ackland have been reclaimed by the living and are powered...it is unknown at this point by whom, and there are a few zombies still pathetically knocking on the doors wanting goth clothing. --Mort Vulpis 09:31, 21 April 2008 (BST)
