FAQ

  • What is a Bureaucrat?
    • A Bureaucrat (sometimes called a crat) is a user with the special ability to promote and demote users to and from administrative roles (i.e. Bureaucrat and System Operator) on Urban Dead Wiki.
    • Like other administrative roles on the wiki, Bureaucrats do not have any control over the game or its operation. Their responsibilities are strictly related to the wiki.
  • Who gets to be a Bureaucrat?
    • System Operators (usually called sysops) who are elected by the community can become Bureaucrats. For more information on how to become a sysop, read the Promotions page.
    • The wiki maintains two Bureaucrats at all times, with elections occurring every six months or in response to the demotion of a sitting Bureaucrat.
    • A sitting Bureaucrat can run for re-election, provided they meet all eligibility requirements (e.g. they're not inactive), with no limits on how many terms they can serve.
  • Who can vote?
    • All wiki users are allowed to vote. Users are eligible for one vote per seat that is up for election.
    • Sysops running in the election are allowed to vote for themselves.

Rules

Rules concerning the election.
  1. An election is started immediately upon the resignation or demotion of a sitting Bureaucrat.
  2. Both Bureaucrat seats are up for election every six months, on June 1st and December 1st.
  3. The election ends after two weeks, counting from the when the election is started.
  4. The candidates with the most and second-most votes win the election.
  5. In the event of a tied vote the currently sitting bureaucrats will decide between the tied candidates.
Rules concerning candidates.
  1. All active users with the sysops status are automatically declared candidates for any vacant Bureaucrat positions.
    • Users who are not eligible for automatic demotion by the Truly Inactive Sysops policy are considered "active" for purposes of the election.
  2. The Bureaucrats whose positions come up for election if said election is started under rule 2 of Rules concerning the election are automatically declared candidates.
    • Unless said otherwise, a Bureaucrat who is demoted due to inactivity is not eligible in the ensuing election to fill their seat.
  3. A candidate can retract their own candidacy at any time.
Rules concerning voting.
  1. All users have only one vote per Bureaucrat position to be filled.
    • This means that, in regular elections started under rule 2 of Rules concerning the election, each user has two votes. In unscheduled elections started under rule 1, each user has only one vote.
  2. Users vote for a candidate by signing under the preferred candidate's name.
    • Users cannot cast more than one vote per candidate.
  3. Users may change their votes for a candidate as long as the election has not ended.
    • Multiple votes at the same time will be struck.
  4. Sockpuppetry is considered vandalism.

Election Space

May the (twenty)-fourth be with you when Boxy's seat comes up. -- Spiderzed 20:14, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

I'm preemptively withdrawing myself from consideration in the upcoming 'crat election since I anticipate being offline from the 23rd to the 27th. I'll cast my vote when I get back, depending on who's still in the running. Aichon 20:40, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
If I go for sysops RIGHT now I will still have 3 days to win the crat election. A ZOMBIE ANT 09:24, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

I am away from the wiki for a day, and no one else can be bothered to kick off an already prepped election. Oh well.

Start Time: 23:02, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
Finish Time: 23:02, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

No, Spiderzed gets to pick iirc.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 05:11, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

This rule has actually seen use already back in 2013 when Bob Moncrief and I tied and Ross as other crat had to toss his coin. - Speaking of coins, I would probably literally flip one if it would end up in a tie. There is not one candidate who I think would do a bad job, especially as low traffic as PM, RE and Demotions are these days. -- Spiderzed 19:16, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
have fun --hagnat 19:38, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

promote them all --hagnat 12:44, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
  2. Because I bumped into him in-game recently, so I know he still plays the game. In fact, there were three active sysops there. Quite unusual. The last time I saw 3+ active sysops in the same block was Blackmore 4(04). Aichon 01:14, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
  3. Back in my day Hagant would have been warned for shitting up an admin page, leading to plenty of unnecessary drama. Linkthewindow  Talk  09:19, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
warned ? might as well add a week ban or two in there --hagnat 00:14, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
He said his day, not back in your day Hagz A ZOMBIE ANT 10:50, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
For goodness sake DDR, stop shitting up admin pages. --RosslessnessWant to complete a dangerous mission? 19:05, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
Back in my day we had Grim's around... i think it would be a lot worse than a week ban then --hagnat 20:17, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
Lol. Touche. A ZOMBIE ANT 02:15, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Still not interested. Being a 'crat only convinced me all the more that I don't want the seat. 20:40, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
