Suggestion description
Adds an item, called "Map". Findable in hotels/motels at a 6% base rate, libraries at a 4% base rate and outside at a 3% constant rate, with a 2% encumberance.

Whilst holding a map, any directional events observed (i.e. any event where a distance in blocks from the origin point is given) will show the name of the block where the event happened.

For example, instead of A flare was fired 2 blocks North and 6 blocks East, it would say A flare was fired 2 blocks North and 6 blocks East. Your map shows this location to be Caiger Mall

If the player also has Necrotech Employment and the flare came from a NT building, the message would be different still, reading A flare was fired 7 blocks South and 2 blocks West. Your map shows this to be the Whale building, a known NecroTech facility.

Standard stacking rules apply for the event.

Zombies would, unfortunately, not benefit from this item, as they lack the mental capacity for the calculations involved.

  10. Keep - A very easy way to figure out where signals come from instead of looking up coordinates on a metamap. --Bob Boberton TF / DW 17:06, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  11. Keep - I can't say I'd use it, but it would be quite useful to others. --Lois talk 10MFH 17:32, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  12. Keep - AWESOME! --OrangeGaf Talk! 21:17, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  13. Keep - That is good - player uses map anyway. You don't need to visit wiki so often. --Vissarion Belinski 22:25, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  14. There are already a couple of map ideas in Peer Review, this one is different enough to work. Less meta-gaming is always a good idea.--Pesatyel 02:17, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  15. Keep - As everyone above me. --Private Mark 02:27, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  16. Keep - What's the point in checking every single flare? I don't know whether it's important! But I don't know whether it's important until I know where it came from... quick! Check the map!--Ryvyoli Y R 08:22, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  17. Keep - It would help people who don't use the meta maps. --ZsL 15:36, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  18. keep - Works for me. The Mad Axeman 15:41, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  19. Keep - If you could implement that it opens into something similar like the actual malton map where we metagame this would additionally add realism and if you want to take it a notch farther allow it to be written on. This would however nerf the GPS which never really lived up to its full potential (in my books) Rogueboy 20:16, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  20. Keep - I'm all for sensible navigation aides that detract from meta-gaming/plugins --Kamikazie-Bunny 20:49, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  21. Keep - As above.--Kolechovski 23:23, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  22. keep - Usefull. --Turtleboy412 Talk! In game 00:54, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
  23. Keep - Useful, and won't unbalance the game as you can do the same by using the wiki. --ScaredPlayer 23:31, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
  24. Keep - makes sense i guess every town has a map somewhere or other --Sgt Gonnella 02:13, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
  25. Keep - Becomes a valuable item for all non-metagamers. ChainReaction01 00:58, 31 March 2009 (BST)
  26. Keep - Flavor is good. --Paddy DignamIS DEAD 23:31, 1 April 2009 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Pretty useful item so I would suggest more encumbrance. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 11:30, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
I was thinking about that, but I realised that maps aren't really heavy or bulky enough to warrant a large encumberance. --Blake Firedancer T E RNL? P.I.S.I.T. 06:42, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
  2. Kill - This isn't a bad or insincere idea, I just find it totally unnecessary. 1. I don't see how the exact location of a flare imparts meaningful information anyway (who cares if it came from Caiger or the local bank?) 2. It's very easy to just follow coordinates to groans 3. It's easy to have the malton suburb map bookmarked in your browser. The only benefit I see is flavor. --Giles Sednik CAPDSWA 22:27, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  3. Kill - As Giles. --Michalesonbadge.pngTCAPD(╯°□°)╯ ┻━┻ 21:51, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  4. I'm with whoever's above me. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:34, 1 April 2009 (BST)
