The Profile Police/Historical Group Voting
The Profile Police Historical Group Voting
The Profile Police are officially no more, but their reign of educational terror should be noted in the historical groups.
I'm unsure if it's appropriate for me to lobby in this venue for inclusion, but I'm going to do it anyway. The Profile Police were not a large group. However, even Vista himself [noted] that the The Profile Police wiki page was the most often vandalized. This was not because The Profile Police were making friends and influencing people, but because they were causing more of an uproar than any similarly sized group.
I dismiss the votes against where the simple reason is that they were a PK'er group. They were a PK'er group that caused a Peace Group to declare war on them. They were the subject of daily hunting party's by torch wielding masses. In a city overrun by zombies, one corner was more concerned with half a dozen educators wielding shotguns. This is the hallmark of a PK'er group that made an impact. It was brief, but it was notable, and the Profile Police should hold their place in the history of Malton.
Don't judge them just because you weren't there at the time.
I've never visited the Upper Left Corner but that doesn't mean they are not legitimate. Let the people who played in Lockettside and South Blythville at the time weigh in.

- Didn't approve of what they did, but got to admit they're historical. Even if it's for being one of the first profile-Nazi groups. -- Pavluk 23:19, 15 August 2007 (BST)
Retired?? When the need is so great! --WanYao 00:18, 16 August 2007 (BST)(voted changed to NO, can I do that?)--WanYao 16:17, 28 August 2007 (BST)- Yes! By far the most entertaining group of PKers in the game. I wish they would have stayed around a little longer and continued to further the cause for literacy. --Mrite 00:26, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- They may have been unoriginal, they may have been hypocrites, and they may have been absolutely tiny, but they had a lot of, um, passion. That's one word for it, anyway.--Lachryma☭ 03:13, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- These guys killed more than one of my alts because of not caring enough to give them a description. They are also the reason you see some level 41 characters too afraid to set a description. Good Pkers, trying to enforce sanity in a text-based game. Sir Fred of Etruria 03:44, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- Sure, why the heck not. --Ruby Tuesday 04:50, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- Huzzah! I'm all for them being voted as historical. Shame about their discontinuation. --Finn Delaney 09:18, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- I had an alt in Tompson when they were educating there. Didn't agree with how they operated, but heaven knows we could do with some better grammar in Malton. I've seen worse reasons to be a PKer. I think they should be historical for these reasons, but mainly because they managed to anger so many people so quickly. Including the Valkyries, who are supposed to be a peaceful group. --James Ennis 18:55, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- James, Police Officers are peace officers, there to protect the community and keep the peace. Sometimes they have to shoot the bad guys....ExperimentalCorpse 01:47, 17 August 2007 (BST)
- I say absolutely. During their short reign they were all the talk of Malton. People who say they don't know them, weren't playing or were never near a radio at the time. They were short lived, but had a large impact while they did. The 'no's' below seem more about being anti-PK'er groups in general, than denying the impact of this group. The fact that there is such strong emotion in some of the below posts speaks to my point.--Squid Boy 21:31, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- Definatly a group I will never forget as a group I hunted regularly and was killed by them more often than I killed them I personaly Love the Profile Police for there ability to wind people up and run and hide the people who voted no Obviously cannot appretiate the Chaos they brought to a peaceful community and exitment to a game this is why the Profile police are a Historical group if voted yes or no everyone in the SW corner knew and feard the PP and dread the day they decide come back Blood red Bread Blood red Bread
- My Alt, Matthew Tucker, was born and raised in Lockettside. Though I was never their victim, I often had to witness their atrocities firsthand. Though they were small and hated, they were definitely a strong historical influence in the area and should be treated as such.--Grumio 05:47, 18 August 2007 (BST)

- I vote yes, it's people like these who keep the game fun. They are an inspiration to us all and that's what this wiki should be all about. Inspiration, and good spelling. Lord Rutherford 10:35, 19 August 2007 (BST)
- They seemed to be a good example of a small group making waves. Short-lived or not, I've read a few of their rants/kills, and they are pretty funny. I vote 'em up. --Donathin 16:22, 21 August 2007 (BST)

- No impact or evidence of "legendary interaction" with anybody that I can see. Really Turban Dead did this schtick a lot better and had greater ranks. Groups that PK because they're "smarter than you" can find better rep in something like the Philosophe Knights.--The Envoy 18:41, 17 August 2007 (BST)
- no, no, no. i actually witnessed one of "their" last "attacks", banal, trite, and just not very good as it was supposed to be a group and it was clearly only one person, who i refuse to name. oh yes, and the previous complaints about their own bad spelling and grammar? absolutely true. you want to "police" bad grammar and spelling, i suggest you take a course in remedial english first. copycats!! --eugenie de franval 8:39 a.m.,17 August 2007 (PST)
- If you're gonna make an accusation, make it. If that's all you've got is a backhanded reference about "clearly only one person", I suggest you keep it to yourself. It only exposes you as gutless.--8 Bucks 02:44, 19 August 2007 (BST)
- Really bad Philosophe Knights imitators. Oh, hell no. --McTrout 21:59, 18 August 2007 (BST)
- Wow!You killed people in a Mall! In a green suburb! You definetly need to be Historical! --User:Axe27/Sig 00:13, 19 August 2007 (BST)
- what Kamden said. killing a dozen or so people in a green suburb is hardly a noteworthy achievement.--Ropponmatsu 00:16, 19 August 2007 (BST)
- I don't know who came up with the number, "a dozen or so", but Barf Chunk was the last to join the Profile Police and killed at least a dozen in his 3 or so weeks as a member. I witnessed ate least another dozen prior to joining the group. SGT Jaw was wildly effective. --8 Bucks 02:44, 19 August 2007 (BST)
- Wow, you killed people in the SW. I don't think that's happened before. Also, before you go on about how smart you are, learn wiki code. I fixed your RE comments for you.--Labine50 MHG|MEMS 06:35, 19 August 2007 (BST)
- I'm hard pressed to conceive of a more TRIVIAL activity than critiquing the spelling and grammar people use in their profiles. PKing rarely has any larger game impact. Unimportant motive, unimportant results, hence an unimportant group. Swiers 18:25, 19 August 2007 (BST)
- In a game where absolutely nothing that is done by a character or group has any permanence whatsoever, I'm challenged to come up with the single event, group, or otherwise that would fit any definition of "important", other than having fun. And the Profile Police had fun. Did the various sieges of Caiger Mall land the mall in zed hands forever? Have the survivors managed to keep the mall forever? The entire thing is trivial, I'd love to hear a better argument than "this group was trivial", because that's just weak. --8 Bucks 19:14, 19 August 2007 (BST)
- I saw this group work and while yes they were effective i vote no along the lines of not having made a big impact. If they had spread out some, heck even tryed to teach the RRF some spelling(not to tick them off) then maybe as mush as i didn't like them i'd have said yes. But I do say to barf chunk, well played.--Dragon fang 05:39, 25 August 2007 (BST)
- Ran into them once and only remember them being trenchy and annoying (and PKing me despite no typos in my profile). For lack of consistency and lack of any true impact, I vote Nozies. -Shinosa 13:57, 28 August 2007 (BST)
- (Vote changed from YES to NO) While a spiffy idea, it doesn't seem to have been all that original, or to have a very large impact on the greater community. These things wouldn't matter if what they did was pulled off with brilliance and panache, but I'm not convinced that was the case... and convincing me is part of the voting process, soooooo ... --WanYao 16:21, 28 August 2007 (BST)
My group operates in the central part of malton, and we have had teams out on mission in as good as all suburbs. Only ONCE have we bumbed into the profile police. I'd say they havn't had more influence on UD than any random PKer.
