A Hunt Involving Men
I'm thinking, about organising it. Thoughts so far are,
- 2 player teams
0r
- Sitting Ducks. That is random bonus characters are introduced every few days, person who kills them gets bonus points, plus it brings everyone closer together.
What you reckon?
--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:00, 1 October 2009 (BST)
- Sounds cool, how do we find random bonus characters? Are they involved in the hunt originally or randoms? Either way is good obvs, just wondering who will decide which randoms are the bonuses? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 17:01, 1 October 2009 (BST)
[1] thats how, the grand high commander creates them. 3 bonus points for whoever finds the bonus man in Vinetown --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:01, 1 October 2009 (BST)

Reorganize History
On your project page, you note the need to reorganize Category:History. What do you mean by that? Put it in chronological order? Sub-categorize it? also, congrats on the crat. --RahrahCome join the #party!21:32, 4 October 2009 (BST)~
- Category:History is currenlty a mixture of POV group history, events relevant to the game's history and also historical events made by Kevan. Some of us had some plans to fix it up. Rooster and I had the conversation here about it, I don't usually get around to recategorization because it's on the lower half of my list of to-do's on the wiki. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 02:01, 5 October 2009 (BST)
Questions
I want to make a page for my alt. I want to avoid all the confusion of VB related things, now do I have to create a User:Kalei page or do I have to create it as a User:DarkBlueHelmet/Kalei page? Thanks. --DBHT 02:05, 5 October 2009 (BST)
- It would be User:DarkBlueHelmet/Kalei, as there's no such user named "Kalei." Non-existant userpages are criteria for automatic moving, I forget which exactly. --Bob Boberton TF / DW 03:15, 5 October 2009 (BST)
- You have the page put at User:Dark Blue Helmet/Kalei. Look like it's already been done, good luck with the page. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 05:52, 5 October 2009 (BST)
Orphans
The no content ones will be up for deletions, any ones with a home base will be added to the history section of that building. Everything else? Not sure yet. But it gets them off the orphans list for now. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 12:09, 5 October 2009 (BST)

Sysop
As you said on Boxy's A/M case, there are currently only 3 active sysops. So, instead of applying as a sysop next month, as I had planned, I'm thinking I may well do it quite soon. Do you think I've made the necessary improvements before my application?--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 16:18, 11 October 2009 (BST)
- Think you fit the criteria? If so, try and work out what questions people will ask you of the process. Why do you want to be a sysop? What would you do with your sysop power? What are your achievements? That kind of thing. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:31, 11 October 2009 (BST)
- The only thing which I might not meet is indication of trust (which is why I've asked here, and asked on other sysop's talks before). I want to be a sysop to
- Help the wiki by taking some of the burden from the others sysops.
- Be able to deal with admin stuff while the other sysops are asleep or whatever (from what I can tell, Cyberbob, DDR and Boxy are all australian. As I'm on the other side of the globe, I'm likely to be online at different times.)
- If I had sysop powers, I'd really just keep on with what I'm doign now, except I'd also do more work on the admin pages, and use the powers I'd gain to help speed things up. As for my achievments, I archive all the suburb news every month (on the 12th actually, so I'll be doign that tomorrow), and I've started (and nearly completed) updating the suburbs with those little icon in the header things. I'm also an arbitrator, though I haven't one cases. Stuff like that.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 16:37, 11 October 2009 (BST)
- Don't forget the orphan stuff. Thats another admin thing. I'd come upwith a better reason than 1. Remember that a lot of bids and votes attract drama. Being a sysop means VB and misconduct, how you deal with these in a bid reflects how you would deal with them as s sop. If you are after more admin things why not try adding to this. Suburb/History#The_Record --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:54, 11 October 2009 (BST)
- Yeah, i've seen that before, but I can't do it because it doesn't fit on this screen. I guess I could fumble with adding screenshots together, but it's rather overtly ridiculous. And I'm aware of the a/vb and a/m thing, and I feel that I could handle it.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 16:57, 11 October 2009 (BST)

- To be frank, I'm looking for more in a sysop than just a queue handler, the admin chores never sit for more than a couple of hours, mostly thanks to Bob, so that's not in my priorities with new ops at the moment. It could change anytime, of course, but at the moment I want more strong willed people on the team. The truth is at the moment the only user in the community I would vouch is Rosslessness, when it comes to anyone else I'm just going to hear out the community's say more than anything else. I'm planning on writing a small article on tasks and things I think people should consider adopting if they want to help out the sysops, just in case people find themselves in your position working to become an op for the wiki. Obviously you don't have to wait for it.
- It doesn't hurt to have a promotion bid anyway even if you aren't going to get into the position, I did it, it lets users tell you straight and honestly what they want out of you as a sysop and in my experience it is the best critiquing tool, even if the bid itself fails horribly. I'd recommend it for sure. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 17:41, 11 October 2009 (BST)

- Definitely a doozey. Read the archives of old user bids, successful bids of users that interest you. It helps you understand more about the community and the wiki as a whole- definitely a good thing to do on a rainy day, and something I think you'd be interested in Yonnua, given your epic narrative stuff about present day admin business. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 17:52, 11 October 2009 (BST)
- And if you don't get in find a project to do that puts a massive template on as many pages as possible in an admin type way.
- {{Group Active?}}
- {{orphan}}
- Does wonders if you want to raise your profile :). --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 18:08, 11 October 2009 (BST)
- I've actually already looked at loads of the old bids, funnily enough.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 18:23, 11 October 2009 (BST)
- In a nutshell my initial sentiment towards sysop-ready users is that they do our jobs for us; for example if they see something needing a move, like a noobs character page in the mainspace, move it over themselves, check for incoming links, change them, and then template:speedydelete the original page and put it up for A/SD, then notify the user of the change. Saves us the trouble of doing all of the above, and we instead have to just press one delete button rather than having to worry about everything else in the move. Something like that, for example, demonstrates that you know how the system works, you know how to do you job properly and you also work tightly with the community and new users. Proactive stuff like that can mean alot to some people. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 00:02, 12 October 2009 (BST)

It was more of a challenge. You have a lot of people chiming in on misconduct, but very few sysops. Combined with your "only 3 active comment" I thought It might nudge people towards a promotion bid or two. I reckon that at least 3 users who should put in bids before the end of the year, and 1 or 2 of them will be successful. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 18:03, 11 October 2009 (BST)

Earletown Barricade Plan
Currently there are two conflicting barricade plans for Earletown. There is BOW's plan, and there is another plan I think the latter one makes no sense, with all hospitals heavily barricaded and inaccessible to newbies, but it's the one put on the suburb page. However, the page Earletown Barricade Plan redirect to BOW's page. This is extremely confusing.
Since you're the one who make latest edits and redirects on those two plans a few days ago, I have to ask you this: which plan is the real barricade plan which was reviewed on October 10, 2009? I'm inclined to switch the plan to BOW's one, since it looks better. But I believe asking people who reviewed it is a better idea. Thank you. -- Kittithaj 21:59, 19 October 2009 (BST)
- I didn't actually review it, I was just working on both the pages to move a category over, so I've never actually seen the content. Template:Earletown Barricade Plan's image is 2 years more recent to BOW's version, but since there are not really any preferences over who has the "official" barricade plan (a cade plan is only as official as however well a group enforces it), it's up to guys like you, regulars in the suburb, at leased I assume you are, to choose which one is more appropriate. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 01:23, 20 October 2009 (BST)
- I can answer that question, since I am conducting the recent string of reviews for UBP compliance. The plan that was reviewed was the template. If the BOW plan is the one more commonly used throughout the suburb, let me know on the UBP page and I will re-review the suburb later this week. Either way, locals will want to decide on one plan and remove the other, or at least request that the link to it from the suburb page be removed. --Maverick Talk - OBR 404 09:24, 20 October 2009 (BST)
Noone cares about the Earletown Barricade Plan .xoxo 09:34, 20 October 2009 (BST)
- You see, here's the problem: I'm not one of the suburb's regulars. I'm just a passerby who is staying temporarily, and not going to stay longer than a month. Looking at this inconsistency, and the nonsensical of the current barricade plan is giving me headaches. I posted a similar question on both the suburb talk page and BOW's. I think I'm going to leave the decision to them. And if no one cares, it's their loss. -- Kittithaj 19:56, 20 October 2009 (BST)

Lexicon
You need to make a citation for round 1 of the Lexicon. The articles still requiring citations are marked. (They are marked here. You also need to write your article for the second round. 00:22, 29 October 2009 (UTC)) --RahrahCome join the #party!23:37, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- Done. Can't go past a sex-oriented citation. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 09:45, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

You should probably stop trying to speak to him, before you pop a blood vessel. Everyone knows that you a user needs to know what an edit should be when they go to make an edit, but he doesn't. He also doesn't seem to understand that he is alone in thinking that the edit boxy made is worse than what was before, and still hasn't provided a precise explanation as to why (unless I am missing). Here's a tactic: don't bother. (ok I know that says personal attacks, but you get the idea, though his posts are now past any substance). -- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 02:14, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Yonnua
I find it hilarious that you say "Look what you've started". Also, that you accuse me of going and accusing Boxy of anything, and "not reading the whole situation". Look back at Boxy's talk, and you'll see that I went and asked him politely, and he gave a polite answer, which was completely acceptable, and would've prompted me going back to Iscariot and asking more. Then, someone else turned up and started screamign the place down, actually starting an argument with Iscariot. Oh wait, that was you. Now, I'm not saying that you did it alone, Iscariot definitely helped, but you did cause a major amount of the issue. you have no place telling me that I'm the one who caused the problem.
- Now, as we can see from the fact that it's caused such an uproar again, it's a major problem on the wiki. I was just trying to solve it, so that Iscariot wouldn't constantly be trying to get one over on Boxy and the rest of you, and to try and stop him creating an A/A case, which it's pretty obvious he's about to do. I've always found you to be impartial in this sort of thing, but this has even got you stirred up. All I wanted was to try and fix the situation.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 11:40, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- I persisted in defending Boxy's actions because you so successfully managed to get Iscariot worked up on his own talk page, while (as usual) forming no independent opinion of your own. It would have exploded regardless of whether I instigated it or not. Look at how snivelingly pathetic your initial comment was on Boxy's talk. And I'm not just saying that for the sake of it; it is the entire point of my attitude towards the part you played in starting this. "Would it be that much trouble for the edit to be changed back to how it was before, at least until the data is made how it should be?" Of course it would be too much trouble, because attaining what it should be is impossible, because it involves reversing 6 days worth of ban-time that Iscariot unacceptably incurred. If you'd have done a background check on the entire affair, you would have understood that.
- The lesson I want you to learn is that we are not incapable retards and the A/VD situation is fucked up for a reason, and will never be perfect, and Boxy did a mighty fine job of fixing it up considering the circumstances, and until Iscariot actually proves that there is a better method to be had (which, I think you'll have gathered by now, we have done nothing other than offer him to share it to no avail), Boxy's version is that which should stay. This is further demonstrated by the fact no one has kicked up a stink but Iscariot himself. All I could have asked in the first place is that you actually had gone and looked at the situation and made your own opinion, and that was the main point of my comment. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 11:57, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, part of making my own opinion was to see what the two people involved, Boxy and Iscariot, said about it. And why don't we just say that the next 6 days of ban time he gets are discounted, because he's already served them? Arguably, that does mean he can perform vandalism "for free", but that could at least minimalise the issue. Could it? I don't know. It depends upon him acting like a dick, which he always seems to do. Part of this was me hoping that he wouldn't be so immature and aggressive, and that he would cool down and try to resolve it through communication.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 12:16, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Of course that's the easiest solution, something we'd unanimously support to the extent that it never even needed to be spoken bar when Boxy announced it on Talk:A/VD. But it isn't that simple because it isn't hard to just use "credit" as a way of saying sorry, or simply saying we were wrong. And Nubis was already demoted by this point so any sort of corrective action was futile. And there's always the fact that it all happened under our noses and no one managed to pick it up. You see now why I don't take it lightly? Anyways, it's been done, let's move on. I think I've managed to prove (through my own poor form) that this isn't going to go anywhere despite Iscariot's claims. I'm ready to pass this by. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 12:27, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. The situation got way too far out of hand, and it would be best to leave it.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 12:33, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Arb Case
I see you have archived the arb case. I was planning on doing that myself until Iscaridiot decided that he disputed the ruling and thus the case. Ah well, it's your problem now, so good luck with dealing with his stupidity. I will look out for your misconduct case, for protecting a disputed case in which your involved, or whatever other nonsense he'll make up. --Thadeous Oakley 13:45, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Iscariot is more reasonable than you think. The case wasn't disputed because all involved parties accepted and he has absolutely no authority over the outcome over the case unless an arbitrator sanctions him with it, which one one will. Don't worry, but thanks for the concern. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 13:47, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm thinking of running
for sysop, but wanted some input. Do you think I'm qualified for the position? With Ross and Rorybob's recent applications, is it too early to run?
Here is my resume, if you're interested in contribution background (over 4000 edits). Specifically, I was the driving force behind completing the BIC (as documented here), and partially behind the recent revival in demerging locations pages (as evidenced in the prior link, as well as the previous three month's A/SD records). I often follow A/SD, A/PT, and A/MR, although as a regular user I am unable to really do anything on those pages. So far as I can tell, I have made no enemies, and am polite and professional in my appearance.
So, what do you think? Am I ready?
Thank you in advance,
--~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 23:37, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Other applicants do not matter when it comes to running. We all should be looking at your contributions anyway, not basing it off of how many people we have oping. What's probably going to be your biggest downfall is you aren't seen enough, and we don't know how you'd react in a hostile environment, since you've had no enemies. We also don't know how you'd react and how active you'd be in A/VB and A/M. Stuff like that.-- SA 23:58, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- No. (I'll let DDR explain why) --Thadeous Oakley 00:00, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
