  • After the Horrible Tragedy in Ridleybank on Oct 13/14 these protocols are more important than ever. The loss of a strong revive point/mall/away form home rally point will make our task even more difficult. Club Vagg vip status

The Imagine organization has taken up the management of Malton's premier lesbian nightclub, Club Vagg. This club has a history of putting counter-culture groups on its VIP list (regardless of gender) and the Imagine organization (always a supporter of the counter-culture) is happy to say we have extended VIP status at "The Vagg" to your group.

The Roftwood Coordination Center

Salvete! I come on behalf of the Roftwood Coordination Center with an invitation for your participation. The RCC is not a group. It's actually just a forum where the leaders of Roftwood various groups can get together and discuss defense, offense, the weather, or anything they like! Currently at the RCC we are trying to get Roftwood back on its feet by cranking out revives from Greenhow NT. Scattered survivors don't stand a chance, but together, great things can happen. You can find our forum here: [1]. --DragonRagnarok 20:45, 15 July 2007 (BST)

The Gore Corps

On behalf of my team, I want to thank Sir Fred and the librarians at Quartly for allowing us to say farewell to them in our "Salute To Literacy Through Squaredancing" event. With the combined efforts of RRF's Red Guards, AU10 and Gore Corps, and with the assistance and generosity of the Quartly Study Group, Operation Be There And Be Square (Dancing) was a success. A big BARHAH to all! --Goolina Gore Corps 20:55, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

The Philosophe Knights

The Philosophe Knights extend to you the Diplomatic Hand of friendship. As both of our respective groups strive for the growth and presevation of knowledge, and Centers of Learning, such as your Quartly Library, an opportunity for friendship and alliance is clearly visible. In addition, our Center of Learning Policy obligates us to protect libraries such as yours, and we feel inspired by your efforts to generate new knowledge and learning through your lectures, and we'd hate to see any conflict come between that. Naturally, we would not ask you to aid us in our efforts against the Ignorant, as we respect your peaceful nature, but if you ever feel the need to invite us to your Library, for tea and biscuits, or to aid against an enemy intent on book-burning, please do not hesitate to give us a call.

Also, I picked up a copy of Doctor Zhivago, which was stamped with the letters "Property of Quartly Library". I am currently on my way to return it.

Respectfully yours, -DT

Creedy Guerilla Raiders

Hello QSG! I was recently vacationig in your area and was given an invitation to your group. Sadly, I must decline as the responsibilities of the CGR are most prominent. I would however like to say hello and offer our services if you are ever in need of defence. Come by CGRHQ.tk if you ever need assistance.--Franz Molotov 03:53, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Prof. DreadHeadDead

Hello scholars of QSG. I was wondering how one would become a lecturer at your fine establishment.

-- DreadHeadDead GORE 07:58, 25 March 2007 (BST)

Yes, well the hordes have a tendency to do things of that nature. As my profile states, I am a Zombologist with my Ph.z, with a major in zombie psychology. I cover such topics as why zambahs gather in hordes. why we zambahs are 'not intelltelligent enough' to use weapons, and our constant need to use 'foul language' (Or so harmanz put it). If I were able to do this lecture (after you have sorted out all the messes and such) I would probably cover those topics (As well as answer any questions submitted to me before the lecture, after is not so good, because I have to write my lecture, and that means I have to think about AP and all that nonsense.)

Sincerelly -- DreadHeadDead GORE 22:02, 27 March 2007 (BST)

Malton Gazette

The Gazette couldn't miss Malton's premier intellectuals on its publicity tour. Revive yourself--with news! Malton Gazette published its first issue on 4/16. Please take a read now, and daily/weekly/monthly as often as you do or don’t want. We’re trying to be both useful and as entertaining as UD; also, there's a free classifieds section.

That said, it’s still in beta and could use some partners. Namely, contact maltongazette@gmail.com to draw/interview/help/advertise, but especially cover news.

Lastly, stuff like the QSG is why I'm in UD; if anything goes on there (much like this talent show?) write it up or just notify the maltongazette@gmail.com to get featured.

Thanks for your interest! Help use the Gazette! --Thegreathal 18:19, 27 April 2007 (BST), working on the Malton Gazette

The Batwing Brigade

The Batwing Brigade hereby invites any and all (living) Quartly Study Group patrons and members to attend our cultural celebration and party at Killingback Cinema (Danversbank [78,93]) on June 1st. The classic 1930's "Dracula" starring Bela Lugousi will be screened in its entirety (we have a generator and fuel to power the projector and sound system).
Revives can be provided by arrangement (several BB members are qualified and equipped revive tech's) as can healing. Live music and poetry / prose readings are welcome. Dancing and drinking are welcome- the sound system works well for music. Sorry, but we don't want zombies inside, and the building will be barricaded.
NTLA1 The Batwing Brigade ~~~~~

SAS Recon

We welcome all survivors into our Area of operations and understand what your policies allow for, but please do not remove our barricades. OUr numbers are as few as the buildings we maintain and lately we have not been online much. So I ask once again, please do not remove our defences (or at least replace them as you found them when your done) and you will always be welcome in our humble lodgings. - Coleor

Budhagazelle! During our campaign against the war criminals, the Blackhawk Nation, the corpse of one Dar Karyan yielded an overdue Library book from the Quartly Library! It was entitled The City of God by Saint Augustine, the Bishop of Hippo. Next time I get to the Library, I will be sure to return it though I must warn you, some of the pages are stained with the blood of the individual I found it upon. Changing the topic, is there another Library tour planned for this summer? --Hibernaculum 02:04, 13 April 2008 (BST)

Advice?

Greetings! I know of you through some common acquaintances and friends and I'm trying to run my motel as something of a No Kill Zone, much like your library (though I'm not as liberal about zombies, but then again, I don't offer anything zombies would want, outside of my body and that's rather spoken for.)
Ahem.
ANYway, since you and yours seem to have been at this a bit longer, I have some questions:

  • Is it just me, or can the "bad guys" read (largely), while the "good guys" can't? I've had RedRummers, psychopaths and just plain bastards as long term guests and they have respected my house rules about killing. Some bounty hunters, the ones I can call by first name, also do, but it seems that many of the would-be righteous are the ones who have the hardest time understanding the concept.
    • Random PKers (bad guys) seldom target low profile establishments. The saviors of Malton (the self-righteous bounty-hunter) seldom acknowledge rules other than their specific forum's methods. I recommend contacting the Rogues Gallery in advance.
      • I don't, like... want to contradict Fred, because he really knows stuff, man. But I will add that, like, the big problem is mostly that PKers will use your motel to hide, right? They'll go there and pretty much say "Olly-olly-oxen-free" and hide out because the rules say, like, no killing. Bounty hunters, though, will totally ignore this sometimes, because they don't really, like, believe in harboring criminals. I'm not saying it's right or anything, because it's totally harsh, but it, like... it is what it is. People could just be groovy dudes, but they get all upset and stuff about stuff, and they want their revenge. You've got to be careful that the PKers aren't just totally taking advantage of your good nature and hiding behind you to avoid taking their medicine, man.
  • I noticed you have your On Notice list. What does that mean for those who are on it? How often do you warn? Do you do an "eye for an eye" thing, or is it more moderated than that?
    • Mostly what I've noticed is that, like, other people read the list, and they totally watch for the people who are harshing on other people. If you go On Notice, you've totally got to know that, like, all eyes are on you if you step on the premises, you know? If PKers are frequenting your place, they'll sometimes act like bouncers, and they'll put a few bullets in misbehavers as warning shots and tell them not to act up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, because you get, like... griefers, you know?
  • Have you found, shall we say, corporal punishment more effective than doggedly reviving and going about your business? Or is it the other way around?
    • As literates we always try to discuss the violations of our rules before any violence. I feel that shooting somebody to get them to stop killing is somewhat ridiculous, but as Malton has no other form of punishment... It may become necessary. Our list is for people who have had more than enough chances.
      • Like Fred says, it's totally the environment that, like, dictates the mood. A lot of people get that it's not really funny to attack others when a place is all about peace. Mostly killing is effective just for disciplining zombies, you know? It's like... "Bad zed! Don't, like, bite!" For PKers and other knockaround guys, you've got to be more disapproving than violent.
  • What have I gotten myself into?
    • You've discovered the most difficult aspect of Malton... trying to enforce an open minded atmosphere in a black and white world.
      • Oh, plus, you've turned your place into a hangout for weirdos. You should, like... be forewarned, man.

Any advice or help you could give would be quite... helpful. --Queen Mum 19:32, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

The BBC

Less Nessman of the BBC has written a short retrospective of your tour homecoming. Enjoy! QSG Homecoming

Comedy & Such

When we, like, finally get the Library up and running again soon, I think I'll be performing more regularly as a sort of humor lecturer, man. It's easy enough to do bits now and again, man, and who knows? It may even bring in more people, and pacify some of the, like... rowdier zombies. If Asshole Doctor doesn't like my stuff, he can, like... shelve with headphones on, man.

Oh, and we'd have to serve drinks, I think. It just... like, wouldn't be right without them. Maybe have drinks in return for, like, book donations. If anyone else wants to do it, we could have, like, an Open Mic night. Maybe even allow music, poetry, short performance art, and like... stuff like that. Thoughts, guys? The Culture Tour 2008

Dearest Librarians of Quartly,

Soon, the Culture Tour shall pass through your suburb. However, given the status of your wonderful location I would like to avoid Quartly on this pass, and instead (with your permission of course) nominate Quartly as my final stop for the tour. This would mean that the tour would be completed at Quartly, and brings the distinct possibility of of celebration and even cake.

Does this meet with your approval?

Yours,

The Dead

totally out of character mode, but it seems liek it's needed right now This is a list of The Dead I've compiled so far:

There are more. Many, many more. I will post as I see them.

The Dead originate from the Something Awful forum. Goons tend to be very well coordinated and will likely never communicate in game or on any of the other gaming forums. They like to use anonymity and horde tactics. I can't say if they will eventually get bored with the Library or not, but you can pretty much assume they will not ever become library loving zombies. I'll do what I can on both sides of the death divide to at least keep some of them busy with me.

Frank N Style will likely try to piñata the building once everyone else is dead and should likely be killed as soon as possible. If no one in the QSG wants to do to, revive me. I don't mind taking the PK hit, obviously.

Just realize that this is not anything personal. It's just the SA crew like to pick something and mess with it. Chin up and just keep smiling. -- SiIIyLiIIyPiIIy 16:58, 31 May 2008 (BST)
