Official Rules of The 2008 Inaugural Player Killer Olympiad
The Process:
- Each week, a certain number of events will be announced, with accompanying parameters for each event.
- Choose the event(s) in which you wish to compete
- Equip and prepare yourself for the competition.
- Perform the tasks required for the event – e.g. Kill people.
- Take the required iWitness* reports or screenshots of you performing the event
- Submit the iWitness reports or screenshots to the PKOC for evaluation
- Await your rank based on all submission
- Accept medal if appropriate.
Individual events will take place within specific windows of time. During the time window, you will need to decide which events you care to participate in, and equip yourself appropriately. The windows will be devised in hopes that the largest possible number of people will have the ability to perform to their highest potential, given adequate time to prepare and execute a submission for medals.
Team events will take place at scheduled times, determined to work best for the majority of players. A team that does not show up to a scheduled team event with the required number of players, will forfeit that game.
'*The 2008 Inaugural Player Killer Olympics will accepting iWitness reports AND screenshots for the verification of event performance. iWitness reports include time stamps critical for verification. If for some reason you cannot take iWitness reports or screenshots yourself, find a friend who can, or you will be able to request the assistance of an official PKO Observer. Thanks to Swiers for creating iWitness, without which this process would be a major pain in the ass.
The PKO Athlete's Oath
"In the name of all competitors, I promise I shall take part in these Player Killer Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them, committing ourselves to a sport without cheating in any form, in the spirit of true sportsmanship, for the glory of sport, murder, and the honor of myself and my team."
General Rules
By submitting for a medal, or participating in a group event you agree to abide by the rules and conduct set forth by the 2008 Player Killer Olympic Committee (PKOC). It is also assumed that you have read and taken the PKO Athlete's Oath.
Yes, that’s pronounced: Peacock.
Conduct:
- The Player Killer Olympic Games are just that – games. Please enjoy the competition, take it seriously, but don’t lose perspective.
- The decisions of PKOC on all things in every area of these games are final. There will be no review processes.
- Make every attempt to adhere to the Honor Among Thieves Policy during the Player Killer Olympics. Do not target other PK’ers in an attempt to prevent them from competing.
- If a situation arises that requires a new rule or judgment, the PKOC will add or make them on the fly, and they will be equally binding to any rule in this document. The PKOC will make every effort to publicize rule changes during the games.
- No Doping – as in don’t make dopes out of us and yourselves by trying to cheat. The idea is FUN, and just like in the real world, sports suck when people cheat at them.
- Please kill lots and lots of survivors.
Use of Alternate Players
- You may submit with any of your alts, so long as you follow the accepted rules against alt abuse.
- For team events, you will need to have an available substitute should you wind up facing yourself in a game in the medal competition. While probably being physically impossible, it is also officially against the rules for anyone to have a player PLAYING in any team event. If you plan to play the same team event with more than one character, make arrangements in advance in case both of you teams wind up facing each other. Substitutes should be registered IN ADVANCE of your first game in such cases.
Medal Eligibility
In order to submit for a medal in any competition:
- You must provide your own UDID, and any group you are playing with if you want that group to receive overall medal race credit.
- You must submit the UDID for every target you kill
- All targets for all events must begin with at least 50 Hit Points. This must be verified by an iWitness BEFORE you begin each kill for your event, as well as an iWitness or screenshot documenting each kill.
- iWitness reports and screenshots will be the only acceptable form of evidence for medal submissions. Many events will require multiple iWitness reports or screenshots (before, after, etc.).
- Any attempt to falsify iWitness reports, screenshots, or cheat in any way will result in forfeiture of all medals received, expulsion from the games, and every PK’er in Malton knowing you’re a cheaty cheat cheater. Don’t do it.
- You may submit for the same event multiple times. The best entry will be added to the standings, and will bump any prior entries.
Rules for individual and team events can be found on the Events Page.
