Car Alarms

Dragon fang 06:42, 6 June 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type Flavor

Suggestion scope Everyone

Suggestion description I've been playing the game for some time and I've noticed something. If theres still humans in the city, wouldn't their cars be on the streets? I was thinking that there could be a random chance, say 5% maybe, of a human or zombie tripping on rubble (or shambling into) and bumping into a car with a weak but still working car alarm. There could be different text for humans and zombies. For humans maybe something like "As you walk along you trip on some loose rubble and bump into a car, tripping its alarm for a few moments before it slowly dies". For zombies it'd be changed to "You shamble into a car, tripping the alarm. You moan and swipe at the car as the alarm slowly dies". And it'd happen using the same AP that was used to move to that block. The alarm would be strong enough to only be heard on the same block as itself. This is my first idea but I'm ready for what you guys have to say about it.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep I'm able to make one vote after all --Dragon fang 06:49, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep Ok, I like it on one condition. You can set the settings to Ignore it if you wish. Oh, and if you put a hash (#) symbol at the very start of your vote then all the votes appear in number.--Seventythree 07:43, 6 June 2007 (BST)
RE: Good point about ignoring it. Forgot about that. And thanks for the quick tip for next time --Dragon fang 09:06, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Change Perhaps drop the alarm and, where the building description is, put "There is a broken down car/truck/motorcycle here." -- Secruss 21:55, 6 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill There's interesting flavor and then there's pointless flavor. If the cars are still there, why haven't they been looted/stolen/used by survivors? --Magentaine 08:01, 6 June 2007 (BST)
RE: Not many people leave useful stuff in a car and odds are not many humans know how to hotwire a car. --Dragon fang 09:06, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  2. It doesn't seem to add to the flavour in a zombie apocalypse kind of way -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 09:27, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - as boxy. --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 10:57, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - Adds absolutely nothing to the game. - BzAli 11:23, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  5. This does what to the game now? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 13:56, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Useless flavor. --Saluton 14:34, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - Above, up or before. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 15:35, 6 June 2007 (BST)
RE: LOL, well it didn't seem that bad when i wrote it. Always best just to post and see i guess--Dragon fang 05:48, 7 June 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill Oh yay, spam. --karek 04:22, 7 June 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill - You have to think about the batteries man. After sitting for 2 years they'd be pretty dead. A dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 09:24, 7 June 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - doesn't actually do anymething. Nice flavor though if somewhat spammy.-- Vista  +1  13:22, 7 June 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - After two years of quarantine, the car batteries are all dead by now. Any new car batteries (junkyards, auto repair shops, hardware stores) would have been scrounged to power the lights somewhere and I have to question whether the government would airdrop new car batteries instead of guns, ammo, food, and medical supplies. --Uncle Bill 19:12, 7 June 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - Other than as an early warning system, how does this help? Just for flavor? Besides, as Uncle Bill said, batteries are well and dead by now. Blinkin the Gremlin RRF AU10 T RR GC 19:40, 7 June 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - "Just flavour" changes have to be very good for me to vote keep. This one isn't. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 03:17, 10 June 2007 (BST)
  14. Kill - Not a good flavor to add. And as what Uncle Bill said, it's impossible. --JudeMaverick W! TJ! Talk Zzz... P! Nuts! 10:52, 14 June 2007 (BST)
  15. Kill - There's interesting flavour and there's boring flavour, as Magentaine said. This is definitely flavour of the boring kind. --Anotherpongo 18:04, 15 June 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - its ad dead as a car battery that's been sitting for 2 years- which is really dead, even if the lights were not turned on by somebody who broke into the car at night. --Seb_Wiers Imagine 23:58, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam Same as above. --Casthewiz 14:12, 7 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam Might have been interesting as flavour if cars were in the game at all, including in block descriptions. Please, no car flavours unless we have cars in the game. armareum 04:55, 22 June 2007 (BST)
