20071126 Zombie Skill: Play Dead

D4rkness 00:10, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Skill
Zombie
I discussed this thoroughly with the folks on the Proboards UD forum, and we seem to agree this idea was worth suggesting. (Note: I'm not sure about the skill name. I'm open to new suggestions)

This would be part of the Memories of Life skill tree, and would cost 100XP. After getting this skill, a zombie may spend 5 AP to drop to the ground. They will become a dead body and be treated as such. The only difference is that they will keep the same amount of HP they had when using the skill, and will not be restored to full health when they stand up. Standing up again after using the skill will cost another 5 AP, unless they have Ankle Grab, in which case it will be the usual 1 AP. Also, the skill can only be used in squares where no survivors are present (similar to Ransack), and if the zombie is playing dead inside a building, any survivors that show up later can dump them outside.

(I realize many people will be reluctant to accept this next part, but try to keep an open mind. Just because most 'auto-attack' suggestions are unfair, that doesn't mean I haven't thought this one through. Give it a chance at least. If you think it's unfair, tell me why you feel that way.)

As a possible sub-skill, zombies could gain the ability to prepare a sneak attack for survivors. If a survivor enters or takes an action in the square where the zombie is playing dead, there is a % chance (half the zed's normal attack chance) that the survivor will be bit/mauled by the zombie. This will, however, reveal the zombie for what it is and leave it vulnerable to counter-attacks and/or headshots, so zombie players would have to weigh the risk. Also, a zombie can only prepare one attack at a time. They can't prepare another until they log back in, stand up and use the Play Dead skill again.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author vote. D4rkness 00:17, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Keep- I dunno, I think zeds need this boost.--Grigori 00:26, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Keep - If you want a surprise attack how about if you stand up you have the option of doing a sudden strike. Like 50% chance to do 1 damage, but it doesn't cost any additional AP. Unsigned vote. --Z. slay3r Talk  17:35, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep - Howabout the attack is only usable with ankle grab, and you cause 2 damage while standing up. UCFSD 17:34, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Keep/Change Good, just get rid of the Trap-Setting part... ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 04:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC) PS: Oh, and make the cost to do it obscene, like 5AP (thus cost 6 total if you have AG
  5. Keep - If you want a surprise attack how about if you stand up you have the option of doing a sudden strike. Like 50% chance to do 1 damage, but it doesn't cost any additional AP! That sounds good. UCFSD 15:17, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Would only be useful for lower level zombies hoping to avoid headshot (it's the same cost once you have Ankle Grab so why bother), and quite frankly; their XP would better be used on getting Ankle Grab. Also, the attack is useless. - Whitehouse 00:18, 27 November 2007 (UTC) PS: take it to Talk:Suggestions, maybe work something out there. - Whitehouse 00:23, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Kill As Whitehouse. --Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 01:02, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Kill/Change - No ankle grab benefits--Corndoghero 01:16, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Kill Not really useful to anybody, at all as even standing there would get the same benefit if not more, except for the auto-attack which for the most part are just bad.--Zach016 01:51, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Kill All this does is make newbie survivors unable to find zombies to attack and level up on. Ixnay on the vulnerabilityinay. --Jon Pyre 02:40, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. kill - Nerfs Headshot--Sur5or 03:52, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Kill - You forgot smoke bombs and katanas.--Cap'n Silly T/W/P/CAussieflag.JPG 06:04, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  8. Kill - i can see how this would be useful and benefit the zombie but if i walk into a building and a zombie is LOGGED OFF there should be no possiable way for it to attack me. A zombie ambush would be cool but seriously i don't want to walk into every building going "oh my god will there be a dead body, is it playing dead am i halousinating?" it just seems alittle to powerful, and alittle to smart for a zombie. it makes a usually vunerable zombie a deadly trap, the newbies gotta kill to. Anti Gorefest5 --anti gorefest5 06:11, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Kill - No hiding, and yes, a dupe. Somewhat like cheating. Unsigned vote struck --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 14:23, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  9. kill - i was in favour until you mentioned an auto-attack. why did you have to go do that??! and it nerf headshot? YES! what a great idea .... although, headshot ultimately hurts those babah zambahz nore than those who could afford this skill ... sadly. --WanYao 22:20, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - don't provide options in a suggestion. If you're not 100% sure it's finished product, the best place for it is here. Also as many of the comments below --Pavluk A! E! 00:14, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Spam - No options. No Ninja Zombies. This has also been suggested and spaminated previously, though i cant find a link. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 00:17, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Spam - Would allow the ability to create zombie ambushes.--SeventythreeTalk 00:19, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Could someone please tell me why that's a bad thing? Seriously? D4rkness 00:23, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Because what if all the zombies on the map could disappear when they wanted to? Would suck to be a zombie hunter then wouldn't it. The game is made in a way that hiding would ruin it for people, almost griefing. BTW: We should take this to the talk page. - Whitehouse 00:27, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Not Really Spam - But, apparently, should be taken to the talk pages for a couple of days. Interesting idea, though. --Private Mark 00:32, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Spam - Above, or something.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:39, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Spam - Not only does this allow hiding, but it's almost useless for that, given that when a survivor enters the square you're hiding in, there's a good chance your zombie will automatically jump up to inflict a single attack, and then just stand there for a headshot anyway. Hiding = bad. Auto-attack = bad. Auto-reveal = bad. Bad + bad + bad = mega-spam. There's been other play dead suggestions too, this one for example. -- boxytalk • 00:49 27 November 2007 (BST)
My apologies. I searched my brains out and didn't find any dupes, so I thought I was okay. Also, the auto-attack isn't supposed to be mandatory. Zeds would get the option of prepping an attack, so they'd get to weigh the reward vs. risk of being seen themselves. --D4rkness 02:04, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Spam - As above. --Steakfish 01:23, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  8. Spam - Nerfed into oblivion.--Karekmaps?! 01:45, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your intelligent input. I can see you really took the time to weigh the pros and cons of this suggestion. *rolls eyes* --D4rkness 02:04, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
You want input go to Talk:Suggestions, you want to be told when your shit stinks suggest it here. Either way your obviously unable to realize when your suggestions suck so it's probably best for you to stop before suggesting crap becomes a habit.--Karekmaps?! 04:42, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
  9. rejected - Kevin Says NO. Also, no auto attacks. doc crook 03:25, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  10. Spam – As Grim. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 05:20, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  11. Spam - This is also a Dupe, but I don't have the time to look. The inherent problem is that it makes invincible zombies. Yes, even at a cost of 5 AP. Zombie uses 49 AP then activates this and becomes unhurtable/unkillable until they next log on. Also, be aware of the rules. The only way a zombie can be targeted is if they stand so your "ambush" allows for 0 AP stand up.--Pesatyel 05:52, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  12. Spam - no Hiding, please --~~~~ [talk] 07:04, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  13. Spam - "Adding options to your suggestion is not good practice." Also, Hiding and an (optional) Auto attack. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 10:14, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  14. Look in Rejected next time. This was suggested many times before. And I'll give the same reason to you that I gave all the others. This allows zombies to create zombie ambush squads! --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 10:51, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  15. Cackapoopoo - ninja stealth zambahs FTW! --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 10:58, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  16. Spupe- I've seen something very similar to this but without the sneak attack. It's also an awful suggestion. Think multiply it by a billion- it means virtually no zombies to kill for exp.Studoku 14:22, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  17. Spam/Dupe - Boxy provided a link above. As for the suggestion itself... utterly ridiculous. --Ryiis 14:53, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  18. Spam - There is so much wrong with this, I don't know where to start. See above. --Pdeq 22:03, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
