20100507 Change to Barricade Attacks Numbers When Inside

Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 11:25, 7 May 2010 (BST)

Suggestion type
Barricade change

Suggestion scope
Everyone

Suggestion description
Barricades should be infinitely easier to remove when inside a building--because that is where they are being set up, and they are made to keep things from coming in, not from going out.

Flavour aside, here is the nitty gritty:

  • Zombies do not suffer the normal 50% penalty for attacking barricades when INSIDE a building.
  • Survivors only suffer a 25% penalty for attacking barricades when INSIDE a building.

The latter is to preserve the balance of zombies being better at removing barricades than survivors, which I believe is a good balance to have regardless of circumstance.

This would make no change to attacking barricades from outside a building.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author vote. Because I like my own suggestion. --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 11:26, 7 May 2010 (BST)
  2. Keep Helps zombies, death cultists and survivors trying to maintain entry points. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:35, 7 May 2010 (BST)
  3. Keep - Definitely shouldn't be infinitely easier, but removing the penalty for zombies while keeping a modest one for survivors would be a good improvement. It's a slight buff to zombies that would be very welcome. Aichon 12:03, 7 May 2010 (BST)
  4. Keep - this almost broke my "anything for zombies" suggestion voting policy because it adds further to the problem that Kevan made for the game two years ago when he introduced ruins and then cade-blocking, but it's still a good improvement on the current circumstances so I am more than happy to vote for it. -- 13:29, 7 May 2010 (BST)
  5. Keep - Helps barricade-plan aware survivors and cooperative zombies, so we have here a clear win-win situation. -- Spiderzed 14:41, 7 May 2010 (BST)
  6. Keep - According to well excepted theory, the most entertaining game mechanics possible encourage players to do things that are realistic, risky, and complex. This of encourages:
    Parachuting, which is:
Perfectly realistic - At least some of the recently deceased should bite, rather than line up for drugs.
Quite Risky - You could end up wasting a days AP if you can't find a good target.
The Most Complex Zombie Tactic In Use - How are you gonna do it? Infection? Cooperation? ?rise? There's many options, and there all situation dependent.
    Beachhead Tactics, which is:
Slightly unrealistic - Barricades aren't exactly delicious...
Very Risky - Either guarantee a kill or give your friends a chance to ruin.
Moderately Complex - You have to know how many zombies are outside, how many are coming, and how many assume the attack to be hopeless in order to make the best decision.

  11. Keep - Logical. Demonsul 16:30, 14 May 2010 (BST)
  12. keep even with interference it is still far easier for survivors to lock zeds out! --Honestmistake 00:24, 15 May 2010 (BST)
  13. Keep - parachuting. It's the cost of CRAP -- boxy talkteh rulz 02:48 15 May 2010 (BST)
  14. Kepp - it makes a lot of sense that barricades would be easier to destroy from the inside. -- Emot-argh.gif 22:43, 18 May 2010 (BST)
  15. Keep - makes sense Sage|Carr Cobra 20:59, 20 May 2010 (BST)
  1. Keep - Good idea. Colette Hart 06:36, 22 May 2010 (BST) after voting end

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - This would make it absurdly easy for 2 death cultists or 1 zerger to parachute and bring down the cades using little AP, rendering survivors' best defense useless and AP ineffecient.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 11:43, 7 May 2010 (BST)
  2. Kill ParachuTING AS usual I see. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 22:17, 7 May 2010 (BST)
  3. Kill - This buffs Death Cultists too much. BoboTalkClown 16:02, 8 May 2010 (BST)
  4. Kill/Change - I would vote keep if survivors did not get a de-cading bonus indoors; it should be zombies that get bonuses for anti-survivor behavior only, not other survivors.--CorndogheroT-S-Z 17:19, 8 May 2010 (BST)
Change that; the points made about parachuting made me realize that I think I should just vote kill without condition--CorndogheroT-S-Z 12:15, 15 May 2010 (BST)
  5. Parachuting. - User:Whitehouse 21:11, 8 May 2010 (BST)
  6. Kill - Parachuting. --Umbrella-White.pngThadeous OakleyUmbrella-White.png 20:40, 9 May 2010 (BST)
  7. Kill - parachuting. -- Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 00:02, 12 May 2010 (BST)
  8. Kill - ditto, to easy to abuse --V darkstar 21:58, 12 May 2010 (BST)
  9. Very, very weak Kill - In the canonical movies barricades are often nailed into place. Therefore they wouldn't be that much easier to remove from the inside. And as per everyone above, but not as strongly. --WanYao 21:56, 18 May 2010 (BST)
