20071122 Fun at the Movies v2.0
Darth LumisT! A! E! 19:20, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Suggestion type
mmmm... Flavor!
Suggestion scope
Lit cinemas only.
Suggestion description
Reels of film can be found in cinemas (20%). They have 1% encumburance, and can be used to change the film that is playing.
In a powered cinema, you can change the movie that is currently playing. There will be a button labeled "Change film." When the button is clicked (1 AP), the following text appears: You replace the reel of film, and (insert movie description here) is now playing on the screen. The building description will then show the new movie being played after you change the film. A list of descriptions can be found here.
Cinemas that played black and white movies before this can play only black and white movies. Same for recent films. Quoting John Rubin: "E.g. in movies that show black and white horror movies with Bela Lugosi you can only see black and white horror movies with Bela Lugosi - it has reels with Dracula, White Zombie, Mark of the Vampire, etc."
The previous version can be found here: Suggestion:20071121_Fun_at_the_Movies

Keep Votes
- Weak Keep Much better than this boring Dracula movie being played again and again....I used to love this before it started playing so reptetively...--KoronofHearts 01:06, 5 December 2007 (UTC)KoronofHearts
- Keep- What shall we watch tonight? --Darth LumisT! A! E! 19:20, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I like it. --| scrapped | 20:12, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Forget what the kill voters said. This ADDS flavour. Seriously, I find it quite boring to see the same darn movie over and over again. I hope this gets a lot of keep votes. --Waterspark2 3:43, 22 November 2007 (EST)
- Keep I might actulay go to a cinema.--SeventythreeTalk 21:00, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep Currently the less genericness of it's just not noticable in the first place so why not.--Zach016 21:17, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep! I like this suggestion. It could spark new movie clubs, which lead to Cinema Defenders, defending their theater from all who might dare to put on Adam Sandler. --The Trichloroethane Potato SGP E! RQ! Winner 1! 22:39, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - That would be pretty cool, especially if after watching the movie for say 2 hours you got some XP "you watched Dawn Of The Dead, this new information has given you useful experiance on how to kill zombies +2 XP" or whatever, nice idea Anti gorefest5 Talk--anti gorefest5 22:42, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep I like the flavor of this suggestion. CharonX 23:41, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Another thing to PK over. BoboTalkClown 02:41, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- "Keep I think it would be cool to be able to change the movie it adds something to actually be able to do in the game. I could watch a comedy while shooting zombies that break into the theater--Leader 02:58, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I still like it. --Pdeq 03:11, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - you'd be better off with fictional names that sound like real names, but otherwise I like it. I'd not bother with the whole "cinema can only play certain films" angle - that's just pandering to players who've got a bit previous over their roleplay. --Funt Solo QT 08:50, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Let there be lips --Pgunn 09:16, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Goodo! The theme and genre of the cinema stays the same, thus keeping consistency. Love it. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 09:51, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Why not? As for it removing flavor, I don't think so. If you're able to see what type of reel it is, then can't you coordinate certain films on certain days? I predict a group that operates out of a cinema, playing different films on different nights. --O'Sheehy 23:27, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I hat flavor killers. Yes. Hat. They don't deserve to have the "e". Glenstone 02:42, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- I make hats out of flavor killers. (I also hate them, and want them to die in a fire. One made up out of very tasty spices.) Besides, what if I'm sick and tired of the art-house films playing at So-And-So Cinema and want to watch, oh, I dunno, Dawn of the Dead? --Sgt. John TaggartUNIT 11/5 WCDZ TJ! 19:17, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep -Why not?--Kolechovski 23:04, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Weak-Keep as above, adds flavor, makes the game that little bit more interesting Michael ruppe 05:58, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Kill Votes
- Kill you have killed any point of this by bowing to the overloud noise of the voters trying to defend their building flavour. If they care so much they can change the film to keep it playing their chosen theme. If you really feel the urge to pander to them include the ability to notice who changes the films, then they can kill him/her and get back to watching whatever the hell they like!--Honestmistake 19:30, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- If I did that, everyone would be screaming OH NOES MOAR SPAM ON MAH SCREEN!!--Darth LumisT! A! E! 19:31, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - I like cinemas as they are. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 19:46, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - This is 99% the same as the old version. Therefore I say 99% the same as I said last time: this REMOVES flavour, instead of adding it. Cinemas are among the few buildings that are not totally generic within their class, i.e. all hospitals are ultimately the same, all NTs are the same, etc. etc., just different names. Some cinemas have an in-game history because of the movies they specialise in, please dont fuck with that. Some extra, superficially different useless item types =/= better flavour. --WanYao 20:17, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- RE: additional annoying issue: potential copyright infringement using real movie titles. if you are so keen on showing real movies, why not just spray a tinyurl to a YouTube video? I know it is not quite the same thing, but... --WanYao 20:24, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - i don't like it. Also WanYao has some good points --~~~~ [talk] 21:18, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - I'm with WanYao. -J. A. 22:36, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - It's amazing, WanYao and Grim always bring up smart and useful points... I'm with them... even though grim didn't bring up any point this time... --/~WOOT~\ 23:43, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
